Realizing multiculturalism and social integration in Banuroja community
There have been many studies concerning Banuroja; however, there is always something novelty in creating a role model for village-based character education where the aim is to create a multicultural society into a multicultural community. This study examines community activities related to the national character values that embody multiculturalism and social integration in the Banuroja community. The method was qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data were obtained from observations, interviews, and documentation carried out during 2019-2020. The validity of the data used triangulation, member checks, prolonged time, and peer debriefing. While the data analysis technique used ethnographic data analysis, namely describing, analyzing, and interpreting. The result shows that the realization of multiculturalism and social integration in the Banuroja community is carried out using three ways of assimilation, tolerance in beliefs/religions, appreciating other ethnic/religious activities by attending, and mutual cooperation. Guidance is also carried out through national and religious activities in the community, advice from parents in the family, and civic education in the schools, exemplary by community leaders, including ethnic, religious, and youth leaders
Implementation of Switching Algorithm for SVPWM Inverter in Induction Motor Drive System on Electric Vehicle Applications
Electric cars are the way to reduce global warming and fuel shortages. Performance variable speed drive is needed for various drive electric vehicle applications. Unfortunately, high performance is still being investigated with a variety of drive systems. This paper presents a design, analysis, and implementation of the SV-PWM inverter motor drive system. The SV-PWM algorithm in design using Matlab, to analyze the system include signal response, THD-V, THD-I. All algorithms are embedded in STM32F4, as the main controller. The hardware uses a 3-phase motor control Steval power module. Response speed and output signal inverters are shown in chart form for analysi
A Comparison of K-Means and Agglomerative Clustering for Users Segmentation based on Question Answerer Reputation in Brainly Platform
Brainly is a question and answer (Q&A) site that students can use as a media for questions and answers. Students can also use Brainly to find and share educational information that helps students solve their homework problems. In Brainly, users can answer questions according to their interests. However, it could be that the interest is not necessarily following the competencies possessed. It causes many answers to the questions given not to have a high rating because the answers given are of low quality to be prioritized as the main answer. This study aims to apply the K-Means and Agglomerative Clustering methods to segment users based on the reputation of the answerers by conducting clustering based on track records in answering questions on mathematics subjects. This study used the number of the brightest scores and the number of answers that did not get a rating as the basic features for clustering. The comparison between the two methods used is based on the Silhouette Score, representing the quality of the clustering results, calculated by applying the Silhouette Coefficient method. This study result indicates that the K-Means method gives better results than the Agglomerative Clustering. The Silhouette Score generated by the K-Means method is higher at 0.9081 than the Agglomerative Clustering method, which is 0.8990, which produces two clusters or two segments
Realizing the demand-driven paradigm in vocational education: A case study on vocational high school teaching-industry partnership program
The teaching-industry partnership program between schools and industry could be a good alternative to be implemented in vocational education. This research aims to describe the collaboration pattern between Vocational High School (VHS) and its industry partner. This research was conducted using the case study qualitative research method. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants were teachers, the head of the motorcycle-technician department, trainers from the industry, and senior technicians of the motorcycle maintenance workshop selected based on purposive sampling. The results show that in order to operate well, the program requires: 1.) A close relationship between the school and the industry; 2.) Agreement to share knowledge, skills, equipment, and funding between the two parties; and 3.) The willingness of the school to integrate industrial specificity into the learning system. This study also finds that the program just partially aligned with the demand-driven paradigm. Conformity has been realized in terms of preparing graduates\u27 competence following the industry\u27s need, but not yet in terms of the number of graduates required by the company. Any method in increasing the conformity between the labor demand and supply still needs further stud
Embedding Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) into English for specific purposes curriculum for vocational high school
English is agreed upon as the standard language of communication throughout the world, including Indonesia. With this, teaching and learning English should be an integral part of the national education system in Indonesia because of the importance of English globally. One of the curricula in Indonesia that focuses on teaching English for Vocational High Schools (VHS) is English for Specific Purposes (ESP), where students learn English according to their needs and fields of interest. With the existence of this ESP as well as a variety of teaching methods and approaches, there is one approach that is considered truly effective in teaching this ESP program, namely the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach. This study aims to explore a set of literature to clarify the CLIL approach and determine if the evidence shows benefits in implementing the approach into the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum. The paper took a literature review approach and explored ten articles selected with specific criteria of being published within 2014-2020. The literature shows that the implementation of CLIL does have a positive output toward the teaching and learning process, especially for those who take English for specific purposes, such as in vocational high schools. The approach improves the linguistics aspects and the non-linguistic aspect or the students\u27 soft skills, such as high order thinking skills, problem-solving, enhanced communication, intercultural awareness, and motivation in learning. However, to meet the success of the implementation of CLIL in the ESP curriculum, some considerations and special requirements are needed. The two distinctive preparation are the syllabus for the curriculum and the readiness of human resources; the teachers. Before applying the CLIL, the two factors mentioned need mechanisms that will support the success of CLIL for the ESP curriculum in vocational high schools. The writer proposes a model to be implemented if the curriculum for vocational high schools is going to apply CLIL. Yet, it needs more researches in the future to make sure whether the model works well or needs more improvements
Implementation of electro-pneumatic practices learning model based on troubleshooting to improve students\u27 creativity
This study aimed to develop students\u27 creativity through troubleshooting learning models in practical electro-pneumatic. This study was conducted during the Covid 19 pandemic where learning was carried out online. This troubleshooting practice learning is applied to simulation applications so that it can be a solution in implementing learning that cannot be carried out directly. This study used a quasi-experimental researched method with a controlled group pretest-posttest design pattern. The sample consisted of 60 students majoring in mechanical engineering, State University of Semarang was divided into two classes. The experimental class applies the troubleshooting-based practical learned model, while the controlled class implements practice learned without using the troubleshooting learned model. Based on the research result, the pretest mean value in the experimental group was 76.26 with a standard deviation of 11.97, while the pretest mean value in the control group was 74.53 with a standard deviation of 10.31. Meanwhile, the posttest mean score in the experimental group was 77.5 with a standard deviation of 7.62, while the posttest mean score in the control group was 64 with a standard deviation of 8.84. The average post-test score in the experimental group is higher than the control group so it can be concluded that the learning outcomes of the experimental class using a troubleshooting-based practical learning model are higher than the control class where troubleshooting learning models are not implemented in electro-pneumatic practic
