Analysis of students\u27 thinking process in solving arithmetic sequence based on adversity quotient types
This descriptive qualitative study aimed at describing students\u27 thinking process in solving arithmetic sequence problems based on students\u27 adversity quotient (AQ). Two students who have camper type of AQ and two students who have transition from camper to climber type of AQ were involved in this study. We employed a questionnaire to identify the type of AQ that students have, a test to collect data on students\u27 problem-solving process, and an interview guideline to clarify students\u27 thinking process in problem-solving. The collected data were analyzed by following a process consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results revealed that the students who have camper type of AQ demonstrated an assimilation thinking process on the stage of understanding problem and devising a problem-solving plan, an accommodation-assimilation thinking process on the stage of devising a problem-solving plan, and an accommodation thinking process on the stage of looking back. As for students who have transition from camper to climber type of AQ, they have similar thinking process with that of the students who have camper type of AQ on the stage of understanding problem, devising a problem-solving plan, and executing the problem-solving plan, but these students demonstrated different thinking process on the stage of looking back. In the stage of looking back, the students who have transition from camper to climber type of AQ presented an accommodation-assimilation thinking process that can be found from their responses to the test and interview
Evaluating the implementation of the character education strengthening program of vocational high schools in Yogyakarta City
The research aims to evaluate the character education strengthening program (CESP) implementation in vocational high schools (VHS) throughout Yogyakarta City. The evaluation is done in the functions of (1) planning, (2) implementation, and (3) evaluation. In this descriptive qualitative research, the researchers collected information related to the implementation of CESP. The subjects are school principals, vice principals, and teachers determined using the snowball sampling technique in four vocational high schools in Yogyakarta City. The evaluation uses the discrepancy model, which looks for the gap between planning and implementation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, validated using the source and collection triangulation, and analyzed using a descriptive technique carried out during and after completing data collection within a certain period. The findings show that: (1) the CESP planning consists of elements of initial assessment, CESP socialization, vision and mission, policy design, and CESP design, with an average score of 2.74, meaning that it is good; (2) the CESP implementation consists of the elements including CESP development in learning, school culture development, community participation, and implementation of the CESP main values, with an average score of 2.98, meaning that it is in a good category; and (3) the CESP evaluation has an average score of 2.50, meaning that it is in a good category. The results of this study are recommended as consideration for mapping the CESP implementation, determining education policies related to character education, developing CESP models, reference for character research, and as materials for discussions regarding character education
Comparison of emotional and social intelligence assessment of students in state and private school during the pandemic
This study aims to determine differences in emotional and social intelligence assessment between public and private school students using Android-based PKES (Penilaian Kecerdasan Emosional-Sosial or Social-Emotional Intelligence Assessment) application in strengthening student character during the pandemic. This survey study with a quantitative approach was analyzed using a comparative model. The subjects were 120 parents and students of public and private elementary schools in Yogyakarta chosen by purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and Likert scale tests with the PKES application and analyzed by t-test. It reveals that state elementary school students\u27 emotional and social intelligence emphasizes the psychomotor aspect or good behavior with the habituation method. Meanwhile, private elementary school students emphasize the cognitive aspect of character knowledge through the lecture method. The affective aspect of social-emotional intelligence in public and private elementary schools is still low. Students have not been trained to feel the good character impact with various methods, so good behavior will not last until they are old because it has not been embedded in their hearts. Different tests with t-test obtained 0.378\u3e0.05, so the difference is insignificant. The emotional and social intelligence of public and private elementary school children during the pandemic is not much different. Because students study at home during the pandemic, their character is more influenced by parents than teachers. It implies that parents and teachers should more often train students to feel happy doing good deeds, so good character is embedded in the heart and lasts for a long time

Forensic literacy models in online learning in a pandemic period: Learning effectiveness and its response
Abstract: Research on the Implementation of online learning using the forensic literacy (FL) model has been carried out on the reaction kinetics material of basic chemistry courses. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness and response of students. This study was designed in a one-group pretest and posttest, with a sample of 31 students from the chemistry education study program, FKIP, Khairun University, Ternate. The method to determine the effectiveness of online learning with FL used the data analysis technique paired sample t-test. Student activity, literature traceability, and the student of the relevance of argumentation in this study were analyzed using the observation method. Meanwhile, student responses related to resource availability, learning process, learning motivation, literacy activities, and student opinions were analyzed using a questionnaire. Based on the analysis of learning outcomes data, it shows that there was an influence between online learning using the FL model and student learning outcomes. Student responses related to the learning process also showed a positive response and were able to increase student motivation, especially in literacy activities. Student literacy activities in this study also showed a positive trend with an indication of the high percentage of student activity in arguing
An evaluation of the Petty Officer Training program of the Republic of Indonesia police using the Kirkpatrick model
This study aims to evaluate the Petty Officer Training Program Noken to determine the program\u27s success based on predetermined character values.
