Literature review: nutrition supplementation for muscle fatigue in athletes

    No full text
The use of natural or conventional-based supplementation has become a popular strategy among athletes seeking to reduce oxidative stress, improve recovery, and enhance athletic performance. This literature review searched four reputable international electronic databases, including PubMed, MedRxiv, Cochrane, and Clinical Trial.gov until December 2021, using Boolean operators with keywords and Mesh methods. The keywords used were Supplementation , AND Muscle Fatigue Recovery , AND Athletes , which yielded 24 articles as study findings. The literature review found that exhaustive exercise can induce a neutrophil antioxidant response by increasing antioxidant enzymes. Nutritional supplements, specifically antioxidant supplements, Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA), citrulline, omega-3, and caffeine, have been scientifically proven to reduce oxidative damage, which can block signaling pathways related to muscle hypertrophy. In order to combat muscle fatigue in athletes based on this research (literature review), natural ingredients and synthetic nutritional supplements have been utilized as dietary interventions. This literature review identified numerous natural micronutrients and synthetic supplements used in sports that possess anti-fatigue properties, decrease oxidative stress and enhance athletes\u27 endurance capacity. The effectiveness of nutritional supplements in addressing muscle fatigue may vary based on the various ingredients in the supplements. However, natural-based supplements have become a preferred option among athletes and coaches currently

This study aims to determine the effect of strength training using the standing bench press method on shot put ability. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The total population is 110 students at SMK Negeri 5 Konawe Selatan, with 50 male students and 60 female students. Samples were drawn using purposive sampling techniques or considerations with the male sex and those who had good and correct shot put technique skills so that 30 students were found as samples in the study. The exercise was carried out using the standing bench press method for 16 exercises with the intensity used, namely 70% moderate, 80% heavy, and 60% light. The research instrument is using a shot put ability test. From the results and analysis of the research on the pretest or before the implementation of the exercise with an average of 7.21, while the posttest after the implementation of the exercise with an average of 8.79 from these results there is an increase in shot put ability. Based on the results of the paired samples test or the t-test at a significance of 0.000 \u3e 0.05, it means that the effect of strength training using the standing bench press method on shot put ability is significant. The results of the study show that strength training using the standing bench press method can improve shot put ability with maximum result

This study aim to determineeffect of barrier hops and bench jumping exercises on increasing Inkado athletes\u27 speed in mawashi geri. This study employed an experimental method with a two groups pretest-posttest design. The research population was athletes form Inkado Tanjungpinang City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with the criteria that (1) attendance was at least 75% (actively participating in training). (2) sampel were athletes who participated in training at Dojo Inkado Tanjungpinang City with an age range of 9-19 years, (3) gender male and female. (4) the length of the training period is at least 6 months. Based on these criteria, there were 24 people. Tthe barrier hops hypothesis test with a significant value of 0.000, jumping up and down the bench is 0.000, and the corparison of the two experiments is 0.119. The results showed that based on the T test found a significant value of 0.119 greater than 0.05. These results explain that there is no significant difference between the Posttest Barrier Hops Exercise and Bench Jump Exercises for Mawashi Geri in Karate. The Posttest average of the Barrier Hops group was 72.83 and the group Jumping Up and Down the Benc had an average of 74.00. seen from the difference in the posttest value of barrier hop and jumoing up and down the banch is 1.167. Thus the duffereence in the posttest shows that jumping up and down the bench is better than barrier hops exercise to improve mawashi geri in karate

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of weight training using circuit methods on aerobic fitness, body fat percentage, muscle mass percentage, and hand grip strength. This study is a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study with a sample of the elderly gymnastics group Sehat Bugar Ceria in Karanganyar Regency, Indonesia. Twenty-seven study subjects aged 60-75 participated in the exercise for 12 meetings. All research subjects can take all pretests and posttests in the form of a six-minute walk test, a hand grip strength test using a handgrip dynamometer, and body composition testing using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Changes that occurred before and after exercise were analyzed using paired t-tests. This study showed that aerobic fitness increased significantly (p = 0.001), body fat percentage decreased significantly (p = 0.008), but there was no significant change in the percentage of muscle mass (p \u3e 0.05) or hand grip strength (p \u3e 0.05). The results of this study showed that weight training using circuit methods can improve aerobic fitness and reduce body fat percentage in the elderly group
