Comparison of Convolutional Neural Network Architecture on Detection of Helmet Use by Humans
The helmet is one of the protective equipment for the head when driving. Although it is a protector, some criminals misuse helmets to disguise their identities, such as robbery at ATMs. Some places have put a sticker not to wear a helmet in the ATM room. However, this advice is often violated. The research adopted the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm to identify humans who use helmets and do not use helmets based on digital images. Several CNN models, such as MobileNet-V2, ResNet-50, and VGG-16, were compared in performance. The experiment was carried out using a dataset consisting of 3,207 images which were divided into two classes. The first class is used for classifying human images using helmets with 1,603 images. At the same time, the second class is for images of humans who do not use helmets, with a total of 1,604 images. The test results show that the architecture with the highest accuracy value is ResNet-50, 97.81%. At the same time, the mobileNet-V2 architecture obtained a lower accuracy value of 96.36% and the VGG-16 architecture of 52.25%
Salt Sales Prediction Using the Moving Average Method (A Case Study of Madura-Indonesia Salt)
Forecasting is a term used to forecast or predict the business that we run to see the direction in the future which uses historical data as the main reference. An appropriate strategy is needed to manage the production of salt raw materials properly, namely through sales forecasting. This study aims to predict the exact amount of salt production in a certain period. The amount of data used is the period November 2020 - April 2021 as much as. The final result of this forecasting model is the best using predictions on day 6 for both AP salt and KC salt, with an MSE value of 290.71 for KC salt and an MSE value of 843.08 for AP sal
Gender discourse in Islamic online media, 2000-2021
The article examines the gender discourse channelled through Suara Aisyiyah magazine, which is part of Aisiyah, a women’s organization, with a focus on the gender perspective discourse presented via online media. However, representations of gender discourse vary across different spaces, times, agents, and contexts, as well as in the ways ideas about gender are channelled in alignment with the organization’s vision. To capture the evolution of gender discourse with online media, this study adopted a historical approach combined with discourse analysis. The discourse analysis method, which describes both text and context, was employed in data analysis. The research period begins in 2000 and extends to 2021 (the contemporary period). The digital platform is utilized to explore more broadly the progressive Islamic identity promoted by Suara Aisyiyah during this period. It is recognized that online media hosts numerous identities, allowing for both “crossing” and “collision” of ideas. The various discourses presented in the Suara Aisyiyah print newspaper vividly illustrate the visions of the Aisyiyah and Muhammadiyah organizations, including women’s positions in politics and their access to health and nutrition. Through social media preaching, Aisyiyah fosters a spirit of equality across all aspects of life, such as by advocating for the elimination of domestic violenc
Promoting Pancasila values through local culture: a case study of the Tengger festival of the karo ethnic group for ecotourism development
Currently, the role of tourism significantly influences the economy of Indonesia. Ecotourism is an environmentally conscious tourism activity that prioritizes the preservation of nature, and empowerment of the local community in terms of social, cultural, and economic aspects, as well as learning and education. In the village of Poncokusumo, the local cultural tradition known as Hari Raya Karo is still preserved to this day. Hari Raya Karo, or Yadnya Karo, is the second major festival after Kasada. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive methodology. The findings from field research encompass the entire series of Hari Raya Karo ceremonies, which can be sequentially described as follows: (1) opening ceremony, (2) sodoran, (3) puja sesanti, (4) andon mangan, and (5) sadranan and tari ojung. On the other hand, the Selamatan Desa ceremony follows the following order: (1) visiting graves, (2) ater tumpeng, (3) tandakan, (4) entertainment, and (5) sadranan. Observing the transition from Hari Raya Karo to Selamatan Desa, ritual changes have occurred. Hari Raya Karo is conducted by the entire Tengger community in the Bromo Mountain region, including those practicing Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity, both in Brang Wetan (Probolinggo and Lumajang Regencies) and Brang Kulon (Malang and Pasuruan Regencies). Conversely, the Selamatan Desa ceremony is explicitly carried out by the residents of Poncokusumo village
Land pawning practice in Semoyo Village, Patuk Sub-District, Gunungkidul Regency
This study utilizes a qualitative approach to examine the customary practice of land pawning in Semoyo Village. This practice is based on traditional institutions passed down for generations. It involves the direct transfer of land without the need for a written agreement, witnesses, or village officials. The spirit of togetherness and trust in neighbors and relatives facilitate this practice. The borrower surrenders possession of the land to the lender, who can redeem the land within an agreed-upon time frame. In reality, land pawning has been a common practice in Semoyo Village for decades, as landowners have been unable to redeem their land. While the land is under pawn, the borrower has the right to possession and use. However, the land pawning practice in Semoyo Village is susceptible to disputes and coercion, despite being regulated by Article 7 of Law Number 56 PRP of 1960. Nonetheless, Semoyo Village residents continue to practice land pawning for various reasons, such as urgent needs, avoiding selling their land, difficulty obtaining loans from banks, mutual assistance, and obtaining additional cultivation land. Land pawning is only conducted among close neighbors or trusted relatives whose character is well-known
The role of youth and scouting education in enhancing student character development
This study investigates the role of Youth and Scouting Education (PGMK) in strengthening student character and identifying the driving and inhibiting factors affecting this process. The research utilized a descriptive approach with a qualitative method, conducted at Universitas Negeri Semarang, focusing on outbound learning for PGMK subjects. The data collection techniques used in this research included interviews, observations, and documentation, while the validity of the data was tested through informant review, member check, and triangulation. Data analysis was conducted interactively by collecting, reducing, displaying, and drawing conclusions from the data. The study found that PGMK played a significant role in developing the soft and hard skills necessary to strengthen participants\u27 character. However, this process was both encouraged and hindered by various factors such as the example of tutors, the curriculum design, the PGMK committee\u27s commitment, stakeholder support, equalization of perceptions among participants, conducive learning situations, learning models, tutors\u27 capacity building and competence, learning intensity and duration, internet connection, and the environment. These findings suggest the importance of considering these factors in designing and implementing effective character education programs for students
Revealing the characteristics of Indonesian language test used in the national-standardized school examinations
This study aimed to determine the characteristics of Indonesian language test used in the national standardized school examinations (Ujian Sekolah Berstandar Nasional, USBN). We used the response data of 218 students from a public senior high school in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, to the test consisting of two packages, A and B, in the 2018/2019 academic year to investigate the characteristics of the test and its items. Quantitative analysis using classical test theory (CTT) and one-parameter logistic item response theory (1-PL IRT) model was conducted to investigate the characteristics of the test and its items based on difficulty and discriminating power. The results of the study under the CTT showed that most test items in both package A and package B have difficulty in the easy category and the portion of items in the difficult category is no more than 10%. In addition, while the majority of test items in both test packages demonstrated good discriminating power, package B contained a high number of items with poor discriminating power (47.5%). Under 1-PL IRT, our study results indicated the dominance of items with difficulty level in the moderate category in both test packages. In addition to revealing the difficulty level of the test items, our study showed that the items in the difficult category under CTT and IRT were related to the topics of types of conjunction; spelling, grammar, and sentence structure; job application letter; and observation report text and its structure. The results of this study are expected to contribute to improving the quality of the Indonesian language test and the quality of learning on topics where students have difficulty based on test items in the difficult category
Enhancing the accreditation of Indonesian private universities through the integration of EduQual and accreditation standards of the BAN-PT
Higher education institutions in Indonesia are currently facing significant challenges in maintaining public trust, requiring them to uphold autonomy, transparency, accountability, and continuously meet standards for quality assurance and improvement. This research aims to identify and address the unmet quality aspects in education to elevate the accreditation of private universities from C/Good to B/Very Good or even A/Excellent. By integrating the EduQual model with certification requirements from the Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi, BAN-PT), the research is supported by comprehensive studies of university accreditation reports, questionnaires, focus group discussions (FGD), and expert judgment through interviews and consultations. The data analysis employs gap analysis, importance-performance analysis, and quality function deployment. The study identified twenty-one priority improvement points to enhance accreditation, with six key improvements prioritized from the ninety indicators examined based on customer needs analysis. In the accreditation of private universities, the unmet aspects of education quality lie in the dimension of physical facilities, particularly human resources, as well as in the dimension of personal development, especially in the criteria for research and community service. The study recommends prioritizing investments in human resource development and strengthening research and community service initiatives, as these are critical areas where private universities fall short in meeting accreditation standards and fulfilling educational quality expectations
Assessing the Effect of Project-Based Learning on Managerial Skills in Relation to Student Creativity
Enhancing managerial skills and creativity is crucial for students in technical fields in the rapidly evolving industry. This study explores the impact of project-based learning (PBL) on students\u27 managerial skills and creativity in CNC machining engineering. The research employs a factorial exposure design, focusing on three key variables: project-based learning as the independent variable, managerial skills as the dependent variable, and creativity as a mediating variable. Data were collected using a Likert scale and analyzed through linear regression techniques. The research involved two classes from grade 11 in the machining engineering department of SMK YPI Darussalam 1 Cerme, which engaged in PBL activities. The findings reveal that project-based learning significantly influences students\u27 managerial skills and creativity. While PBL\u27s effect on managerial skills remains substantial, even when creativity is considered a mediating variable, creativity itself does not significantly mediate this relationship. This suggests that while PBL effectively enhances managerial abilities, it also promotes creativity in students, contributing to a richer educational experience. These results highlight the effectiveness of PBL as a pedagogical approach in the CNC machining curriculum. Although creativity does not moderate the relationship between PBL and managerial skills, PBL is valuable in developing both technical skills and creative potential, thus preparing students to meet future industry challenges effectively
