A combination of split jumps and short sprints to increase the volleyball athletes\u27 leg muscle power and agility
pplying the right training methods can lead to optimal athlete performance. The use of one training method is common, and the use of a combination of two training methods is something new in training. The purpose of this study was to reveal the effectiveness of the combination of split jump training as a plyometric exercise with short sprint training on the leg muscle power capacity and agility of volleyball players. The research method in this research is a quasi experiment involving 40 samples (age: 20.85 ± 0.89 years, height: 178.69 ± 6.51 cm, and weight: 72.47 ± 8.02 kg). This study used a modified randomized pre-test and post-test design without a control group. The population of this study were volleyball players at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha). Purposive sampling was chosen to determine the sample, namely 40 male student players.The sample was given training combining split jumps with short sprints for 4 weeks with details of 12 training sessions (3 times a week). The Jumpa DF and agility t-test were chosen as instruments to measure leg muscle power and agility. The collected data was analyzed using a paired t-test with a significance level of 5%. Before testing the hypothesis, start by testing the normality of the data using the Kolmogorov-Smirnova test and the homogeneity of the data using Levene\u27s with the help of SPSS 16.0. The results achieved show that there is a significant influence on the leg muscle power (sig \u3c0.05) and agility (sig \u3c0.05) of volleyball players. Based on the results of this data analysis, it can be concluded that the combination of split jump and short sprint training for 4 weeks has a significant effect on the results of leg muscle power and agility in male volleyball players. Seeing the findings above, it is hoped that volleyball coaches can apply this training method, specifically in the pre-competition phase, which requires a short time to improve leg muscle strength and agility at the same time
The impact of modified walking exercise incorporating intensity variations on increasing aerobic endurance
The aim of this study was to the effect of modified forms of exercise on increasing VO2Max in college students. In particular, This study focuses on assessing the effectiveness of interval training modifications, particularly in the form of walking exercises, in increasing VO2Max in college students. This study followed a quantitative approach, using an experimental design known as the one-group pre-test and post-test design. Cooper\u27s test is used as a research instrument in this study. The study was undertaken with participants from the Department of Sports Development, Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The findings of this study can be used as a reference for implementing a modified form of interval training, especially using walking patterns, to increase VO2Max in college students. Data analysis technique using Paired Sample t Test. The treatment group that underwent walking exercise experienced a significant increase in VO2Max, although the level of significance varied. In particular, the walking treatment group showed a significant increase with a significance value of 0.000
Media coverage of DeepFake disinformation: An analysis of three South-Asian countries
A lot of people are concerned about DeepFakes in modern society. Despite its wide range of uses, DeepFakes has gotten little public recognition. The main goal of this research is to analyze DeepFakes and their originators, as well as their potential and risks. We analyzed 203 news articles from 16 media outlets in Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan to achieve our goal. The extracted news had been categorized under threat, prevention, and entertainment centric news. It has been revealed after analyzing DeepFake-related news from the leading English daily of these countries that more than 50% news of Pakistani newspapers related to DeepFake was on the threat of this heinous technology. On the other hand, one-third news of Indian and Bangladeshi newspapers was in this regard. The widespread broadcast of misleading information through media outlets might boost their legitimacy and reception for a short time but slowly and steadily smear their good name. Which internet content is often used and influenced behavior? A phenomenology about students in senior high school
At present, most students in the world, as well as Indonesia, especially senior high school students, have used the Internet for various purposes. Internet content presented on different platforms can now be accessed easily. Consciously or not, this media content influences their behavior. There is a lot of freely submitted content, which is worth knowing the impact. The question related to this study is which internet content is often used and affects high school students’ behavior. Qualitative methods with phenomenology have informants from the western, central, and eastern parts of Indonesia. Data were collected using observation, Google Forms, and interviews for the selected. It uses a sampling technique of 39 informants. The validity of the research used is source triangulation in the next stage, namely analyzing data with Milles & Huberman interactive analysis. Data analysis carried out is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Content often used is entertainment and educational content, while content that can influence behavior is entertainment, education, health, food and cuisine, religious, beauty, motivational, art, and game content. The content is accessed through various platforms such as social media: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, podcasts, etc
Social media usage and civic engagement among Indonesian digital natives: An Analysis
This study aims to identify the relationship between social media use and civic engagement among digital natives in Indonesia using the Grounded Theory method. The study involved 15 digital natives aged 18-24 who actively use social media, selected through a purposive sampling technique. The analysis in this study used NVivo version 12 Plus for MacBook. The study results show that social media use plays a vital role in the civic engagement of digital natives in Indonesia. The participants stated that social media use could help increase their awareness and knowledge about social and political issues in Indonesia and enable them to participate in related activities. In addition, the study also shows that social media use can facilitate interaction and discussion among individuals with different views, which ultimately can deepen their understanding and experience of social and political issues in Indonesia. However, this study also identifies some challenges and obstacles in using social media for civic engagement. One is the authenticity and credibility of information disseminated on social media, which can influence individuals\u27 views and opinions on an issue. Based on these findings, this study recommends improving digital literacy and information verification skills for digital natives in Indonesia
Students\u27 difficulties: mathematical creative thinking skill questions based on habits of mind
This study aims to describe the types of difficulties experienced by students in solving mathematics problems based on students\u27 mathematical creative thinking ability and habits of mind. This research included survey research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The subjects of the study were 519 students of State Junior High School and State Madrasah Tsanawiyah who came from ten schools with high, medium, and low accreditation categories in Kampar Regency, Riau, Indonesia. The sample in this study was determined by stratified proportional random sampling technique. The instruments used were a diagnostic test consisting of four mathematical problems based on mathematical creative thinking skills and a habits of mind questionnaire consisting of 40 statements referring to 16 habits of mind indicators. Students who obtained diagnostic test scores less than the KKM set by each school. Interviews were conducted with students who experienced difficulties to clarify the types and locations of difficulties experienced by students. The results of the study showed that; 35.26% have difficulties in understanding the problems, 53.76% in transforming problems, 54.38% in the mathematical process, and 54.82% in determining the final answer, and judging from the habits of mind, the very high category is 38.42%, the high category by 44.91%, the medium category by 50.74%, the low category by 53.06%, and the very low category by 52.45%. Students still have difficulty in solving math problems so making the teacher an active facilitator of students can help students understand and determine what steps to take towards difficulties in solving problems
Classification of Corn Seed Quality using Residual Network with Transfer Learning Weight
Corn is one of the main ingredients in farm animal feed. Currently, corn is preferable because widely available and cheaper in the market than others. However, it needs quality control on corn production. The company that manufactures animal feed has certain quality standards to receive corn material. On the other hand, the quality of corn produced varies greatly. Thus, quality control when receiving corn from suppliers greatly affects the quality of animal feed. The quality of feed ingredients is classified into physical properties and analytical values. Physical properties are determined so that the resulting corn can be accepted or rejected, while the analytical value is used as the basis for formulating the diet. The physical properties of corn are determined by the human senses, such as sight and smell, while the analytical value is by chemical analysis. Physical quality control by relying on human senses is certainly limited and takes time. Based on these problems, it needs to make a classification system of corn seeds automatically. This study uses corn seed images as classification data. The system uses public data from Naagar which consists of four classes: pure, discolored, silk cut, and broken. Image classification uses a Convolutional Neural network (CNN) with ResNet152v2 architecture. The hyperparameters used consist of a learning rate of 0.001, a batch size of 512, and an epoch of 25. Adaptive Moment Estimation (Adam) for the optimizer. Percentage of data training vs validation 80:20. The validation results show an accuracy of 65%, precision of 66%, and recall of 64%
Using Discovery Learning and Problem-Based Learning to Increase Students\u27 Motivation for Accomplishment
According to initial observations made during the Basics of Computer Network Engineering and Telecommunications course in class X at TKJ SMK Negeri 5 Gorontalo, students were generally still passive and did not participate much in their education, preferring to listen to what their teachers said. This research aims to analyse: (1) the influence of the Problem Based Learning model on students\u27 achievement motivation; (2) the influence of the Discovery learning model on students\u27 achievement motivation; and (3) differences in achievement motivation between classes treated with Problem Based Learning. This study used a Non-equivalent Control Group Design research design in conjunction with a Quantitative Quasi-Experimental research method. This design consists of two groups that are not randomly selected, then given a pre-test to find out whether there are differences between the experimental group and the control group. The analytical test tool used in testing this research is the Paired Sample T-test with the following test results: (1) The Problem Based Learning model influences students\u27 achievement motivation as indicated by the Sig value; (2) the Discovery Learning model influences students\u27 achievement motivation as indicated by the Sig value (2-tailed) of 0.000 \u3c 0.05. These results show that there are differences in the average achievement motivation of students in classes given the Discovery Learning model; and (3) Apart from that, the independent t test showed that there was no difference in achievement motivation between classes given the Problem Based Learning model and classes given the Discovery Learning model
The Effectiveness of the PhET-Assisted Creative Problem Solving Model on Students\u27 Creative Thinking Abilities and Cognitive Learning Outcomes
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the PhET-assisted creative problem solving model on creative thinking abilities and student learning outcomes in vibration, wave and sound materials. In this research, the samples taken were determined based on the characteristics of the two classes which were almost the same (homogeneous). The characteristics used are the average UAS scores of two classes which are close to the same and the science teacher who teaches in the same class. The sample chosen was class VIII with class A as the control class and class B as the experimental class with a total of 16 students in each class. This research uses an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Data on students\u27 cognitive learning outcomes were taken using a test method in the form of 15 multiple choice questions, while students\u27 creative thinking abilities used a test method in the form of 5 descriptive questions which had been tested for validity and reliability with a significance level of 5%, resulting in rcount \u3e rtable. Research data was obtained from pretest-posttest scores and analyzed using the MANCOVA statistical test. The results of the multivariate analysis show that the sig value is \u3c0.05, namely 0.001 \u3c0.005, which means that there is a significant influence. The N-gain results show an increase in creative thinking abilities by 56.57% and an increase in students\u27 cognitive learning outcomes by 57.08% which is included in the medium category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the creative problem solving model assisted by PhET significantly increases students\u27 creative thinking abilities compared to conventional learning. In addition, there is a significant increase in the cognitive learning outcomes of students who use this model. The implementation of PhET as an interactive learning tool opens up opportunities for students to understand science concepts in a more in-depth and contextual way. Implications of these findings include increased student engagement, development of innovative learning models, and emphasis on problem-based learning. This research contributes to educational practitioners and researchers in understanding the potential of the PhET-assisted creative problem solving model as a practical approach to improving students\u27 learning outcomes and creative thinking abilities in the context of science learning
Divulging two decades of multimedia applications in biology education
Biology is an indispensable component of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. Accordingly, effective biology teaching necessitates multimedia to assist students in fathoming complex scientific themes. This study aims to scrutinise the bibliometrics of preceding publications on multimedia applications in biology education from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. This study explores descriptive publishing patterns and the emergence of academic discourse about multimedia applications in biology education using ScientoPy and VOSviewer. The results reveal publications on this topic have been volatile, with less than ten publications in both databases. The United States has bested others as the most noteworthy multimedia applications in biology education publication hubs. The top three keywords yielded by ScientoPy were biology education , visual literacy , and science education . The keywords active learning, science education, visual literacy, and anatomy diagrams generated by VOSviewer have been among the most employed keywords since 2016. In the abstract\u27s content analysis, the keywords visual representation and image have often been utilised. This study provides an overview of the applications of multimedia in biology education. It will aid researchers interested in advancing or discovering new knowledge in this domain and developing splendid biology education research ideas and practices
