Analysis of students\u27 perceptions on the Freedom of Learning - Independent Campus (MBKM) program at Chemistry study program of Ma Chung University
Considering that Indonesian education has gone through such a long journey from 1922 to 2022 now, it is necessary to have an educational program that is able to meet the demands of workers\u27 needs in this era of globalization. In the end, the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology designed an education policy system in the realm of higher education, namely Freedom of Learning - Independent Campus , as an accurate strategy for optimizing academics in today\u27s Indonesia. In this study, a survey was aimed at 40 undergraduate students of the Chemistry Study Program at Ma Chung University. Data analysis were made by quantitative approach of the nine questions succcessfully answered by students who filled out questionnaires in the online multiple choice questionnaire with a dependency test by nonparametric statistical methods. As a result, the majority of students of the Chemistry Study Program were quite enthusiastic about this new educational policy, although it was necessary to optimize all internal strategies of the study program curriculum, so that it could be in accordance with the activities designed in the Freedom of Learning - Independent Campus Program
The effectiveness of item parceling to increase the model fit: A case study of PAPs
The impact of item parceling to improve model fit indexes in confirmatory factor analysis has been on debate amongst psychometricians. In this study, the effectiveness of item parceling was examined using Tes Potensi Akademik Pascasarjana (PAPS) or Postgraduate Academic Potential Test in Universitas Gadjah Mada. Item parceling approach, second-order approach, and item-based approach of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used for examination. Data were collected from a sample of 1374 postgraduate candidates in 2017. The result found that model fit indices such as the chi-squared test, comparative fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, and standardized root mean square residual were improved in the item parceling approach when compared to item based approach. Interestingly, the root mean square error of approximation were deteriorating in the item parceling approach. The finding of this study suggested that model dimensionality and sample size should be carefully considered when using the item parceling approach
The Flipped-Classroom Instructional Procedure Development and Its Implementation Effectiveness in Improving Procedural Knowledge Learning Outcomes at Vocational High Schools
The students\u27 number limitation in a classroom and the compression of face-to-face time challenge teachers to present practical learning scenarios to achieve learning objectives. This study aims to develop student learning procedures with the flipped classroom (FC) instructional model and determine its use in improving student learning outcomes. The research was conducted at a public information technology vocational high school in Malang, East Java Province, Indonesia. The FC instructional procedure development approach is based on the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) phase. The FC instructional procedure was developed in conjunction with a constructivist instructional strategy, consisting of five primary stages: (1) perception, (2) exploration, (3) restructuring, (4) implementation, and (5) review and evaluation. FC instructional procedure effectiveness was tested using the Randomized Pre-test and Post-test Control Group Design research design. The control and experimental groups consist of 30 students with randomization. The research found that the learning outcomes of the experimental group (EGLO = 70.00) were greater than those of the control group (CGLO = 64.30). The normalized gain index of the experimental groups (g = 0.50) was more significant than the control groups (g = 0.41). The conclusion is that the FC procedures with a constructivist approach have proven more effective in improving student learning outcomes
Visitor Decision System in Selection of Tourist Sites Based on Hybrid of Chi-Square And K-NN Methods
Madura Island is one of the islands with a lot of tourism spread over four districts, such as natural, religious, and cultural tourism. And every year, various visitors visit various tourist sites in Madura, so an increase in the number of visitors has been found in multiple places. This is influenced in addition to the type of tourist attraction but also changes in tourist behavior in making decisions to visit tourist objects. Most of the researchers have applied the right decision-making with intelligence-based measurement. However, the accuracy obtained has not yet reached the optimal solution. Therefore, this study uses the Chi-Square and K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN) methods to recommend tourist attraction locations based on visitor characteristics to increase visitor attractiveness in tourist attractions scattered in Bangkalan, Madura. Chi-Square is used to select features that affect tourist attraction visitor factors by testing the relationship between the variables involved. Meanwhile, K-NN is a method of classifying potential visitor attractions based on their characteristics by using the closest membership calculation, which is the largest from the test data. The calculation is carried out by the square of the Euclidian distance from each object, then sorted from the smallest to the largest value and looking for the value of k as the result of the decision. There are ten features used in the classification, such as tourism type, management services, facilities, gender, age, occupation, education, visitor status, ticket prices, and sales trends. There are three classes classified: low, medium, and high visitor attractiveness. The contribution of this study is to analyze the effect of the characteristics of tourist attraction visitors on increasing visitor attractiveness using the chi-square and K-NN methods. Based on the results of system testing using K-Fold Cross Validation with five folds from 315 datasets, it produces the highest accuracy at k-fold = 3 worth 84.12% with eight selected features
Employability skills and self-perception of diploma 3 graduates in the world of work
This study aims to determine the world\u27s perception of Diploma 3 graduates regarding work skills. The research used a questionnaire survey method on Diploma 3 graduates who had worked for 2-5 years. Measurement of work aspects includes individual qualities, basic skills, interpersonal skills, thinking skills, resource management, systems and technology, and information skills. The instrument\u27s validity in each aspect ranges from 0.416 to 0.683, with a reliability of 0.882. The research technique used simple random sampling with 109 respondents in this study. The results of the study stated that the self-perception of graduates are (1) an individual quality score of 85.5 with a very high interpretation; (2) basic skills get a score of 81.8 with a high interpretation; (3) an interpersonal score of 84.8 with a very high interpretation; (4) thinking skills get a score of 83.1 with a very high interpretation; (5) resource management obtained a score of 88.6 with a very high interpretation; (6) systems and technology got a score of 92.4 with a very high interpretation, and (7) information skills got a score of 85.1 with a very high interpretation. Thus, the average worldwide employment of Diploma 3 graduates is 85.9, with a high interpretation. This finding implies that the higher graduates\u27 employability skills, the higher their self-perception at work

Improving leg power and Dolyo Chagi kick speed in Taekwondo using plyometric, SAQ, and circuit training methods
This study aimed to determine the effect of giving three different exercise methods (Plyometric, SAQ, and Traning Circuit) on increasing leg muscle power and dolyo chagi kick speed in taekwondo athletes. The research design used pre and post design with a total of 18 Unesa student taekwondo athletes as research subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups (PLY, SAQ, and ST) consisting of 6 athletes each. The PLY group performs plyometric; The SAQ group performs Speed, Agility, and Quickness; and the ST Group performs circuit training. Interventions were given to each group with 18 meetings with a frequency of 3 times each week. Data analysis using manova test assisted with R studio software. The results of this study showed that the average value of the increase in leg power and kick speed was the highest in the SAQ group respectively 2.95±2.40 watts and 1.30±0.80 m/s. The manova test showed a p value of 0.1239 which means that there is no significant difference from the three training methods to leg power and kick speed. In conclusion, plyomeric training methods, SAQ, and training circuits can increase dolyo chagi leg power and kick speed in taekwondo athletes, but there is no significant difference in the improvement
Implementation of IMWR (Inspiring-Modeling-Writing-Reporting) scaffolding on students cognitive learning outcome in the stoichiometry topic
Stoichiometry is one of the essential chemistry topics that is an abstract concept, involves complex calculations, and is related to other chemical concepts. It can cause not a few students to have difficulty learning it. Scaffolding is needed in the learning process of stoichiometry concepts to help students understand concepts more easily and improve learning outcomes. This research aims to determine differences in students\u27 cognitive learning outcomes on the stoichiometry topic after implementing the IMWR scaffolding model. This research used experimental research with the one-group pretest-postest design. Respondents were 32 high school students who were determined by purposive sampling. The instrument test consisted of 32 items of essays that were valid and reliable. Data is collected and carried out through pretest and posttest. The differences in students\u27 cognitive learning outcomes were analyzed descriptively using the N-gain test and statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test. The paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (sig. \u3c0.05), meaning there were differences in student learning outcomes after implementing the IMWR Scaffolding learning model. However, the resulting difference is not significant and is in a low category (N-gain 0.27). Implementing IMWR scaffolding needs to be designed as best as possible by paying attention to students\u27 character to help students understand the concept using procedural knowledge, which impacts better learning outcomes
Develeopment e-modules based android in Newton\u27s law topic for senior high school
Developing android-based teaching materials is an initial step to follow the presence of the society 5.0 era in the learning system. This study aimed to know the feasibility and practicality of an Android-based e-module developed on Newton\u27s law material. This study is research and development using the 4D model from Thiagarajan with four stages of development: define, design, develop, and dissemination. The research instrument used is an expert validation sheet, students\u27 reliability questionnaire, interview guide sheet, and e-module prototype with research subjects consisting of 50 students. The research instruments used are expert validation sheets, student reliability questionnaires, interview guide sheets, and e-module prototypes. The research subjects are 10th-grade students. The data analysis technique is quantitative descriptive. Based on expert validation, the feasibility analysis results show 94.86% and 90.8%. Results of the practicality analysis show a percentage of 100% based on the test results, which means that the android-based e-module developed meets the feasibility and practical aspects of teaching materials on Newton\u27s law. The effective analysis results on the effective use of e-modules show N-gain 1,877 in the high category, which means that e-module developed is effective use as learning media in Newton\u27s law material
Utilizing social media in socioscientific issues discussion to improve argumentative skills and microbial literacy
Microbial literacy plays an essential role in understanding microbiology issues. Discussion of socioscientific issues is one way to improve microbial literacy and argumentative skills. Socioscientific issues discussion takes a long time if applied in an inadequate classroom. Thus, social media is used as a tool to discuss socioscientific issues. This study aims to utilize social media Facebook\u27 in discussing socioscientific issues. The research method used is quasi-experimental. The pre-post one group design was used to know the effect of socioscientific discussion on argumentation skills, and the pre and post-control group design was used to know the differences in microbiological literacy of students who discuss socioscientific issues and did not discuss socioscientific issues. Discussion of socioscientific issues is carried out through four steps: polemic, exploration, conclusion, and action. The results showed increased individual argumentation skills before and after discussing socioscientific issues via Facebook. Before the discussion there are 34.38% of students reached argumentation levels 4 to 5, after which 56.25% reached argumentation levels 4-5. Discussion of socioscientific issues through social media has made group argumentation skills reach higher performance (level 5). Microbiological literacy between groups discussing socioscientific issues and not discussing socioscientific issues showed no significant difference except for questions directly related to the topic of discussion, namely changes in perceptions of microbes.
