Homoeopathic medicines modulate inflammatory functions and adhesion receptor expression in human blood cells: An in vitro study
Background: Homoeopathic medicines are used extensively for the treatment of many human diseases and are shown to affect immune cell functions. However, our understanding of the immunomodulatory effects of such medicines and associated mechanisms of action remains limited. Objectives: The present study aims to investigate the immunomodulatory effects of Arsenic album, Rhus toxicodendron, Hepar sulphuris and Bryonia alba on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced peripheral blood neutrophils and monocytes. Materials and Methods: In this work, neutrophils and monocytes were treated with different homoeopathic dilutions of 30C potency separately, followed by stimulation with the LPS, to examine the immunomodulatory effects of these medicines. Flow cytometry-based expression analysis of different surface markers was assessed, gene expression dynamics was determined using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and protein secretion was evaluated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: A significantly decreased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL-6) and tumour necrosis factor-α both at transcript levels as well as protein levels with reduced expression of the pathogen recognition receptors such as toll-like receptors (TLR)-2, and TLR-4 in LPS-stimulated neutrophils and monocytes were observed. Similarly, there was a reduction in reactive oxygen species production and expression of activation markers such as CD44, CD69 and CD62L in stimulated cells in the presence of the homoeopathic medicines. A differential level of expression of cell adhesion receptors (e.g., integrin β1, β3 and αv) which mediate migration of immune cells in the tissues was observed in stimulated cells. Conclusion: We found that homoeopathic medicines have a significant effect against LPS-induced inflammatory response in innate immune cells and provide empirical support for their beneficial effects
Bleeding nasal polyp in a child, treated with individualised homoeopathy: A case report
Introduction: A nasal polyp (NP) is a type of growth inside the nose or sinuses typically presenting with nasal congestion, nasal obstruction and anosmia or hyposmia. It is amenable to the individualised homoeopathic treatment. In this case, we present how an NP in a female child was successfully treated with individualised homoeopathy.
Case Summary: A case of NP in a 5-year-old female child presented to the outpatient department in November 2021. It was bleeding frequently, especially when hurt. It blocked the right nostril and was visible from the outside. Acidum nitricum (Acid-nit) was prescribed based on the totality of symptoms. After a few follow-ups, the patient started improving and the bleeding stopped. The size of the polyp also diminished gradually. Within 1 and ½ months of starting treatment, the polyp disappeared. This case is a testimony of the usefulness of homoeopathy in NPs. Further research could define the role of homoeopathy in the management of NPs

Homoeopathy in the management of generalised anxiety disorder: A case report
Introduction: Generalised anxiety disorder (G.A.D.) is characterised by excessive, pervasive and uncontrollable worry. G.A.D. is a chronic and recurrent disorder with a low rate of remission with a considerable impact on quality of life. There is a scarcity of literature published on homoeopathy on G.A.D. This case report illustrates an improvement without recurrence of a G.A.D. case treated exclusively with homoeopathic medicine.
Case Summary: A 36-year-old man presented with anxiety about least trifles, easily irritable, palpitation, gastric disturbances, tension, excessive sweating, sleep disturbances and difficulty in concentration. After thorough case-taking, homoeopathic treatment with Lycopodium 200C and Sulphur 1000C led to a remarkable improvement. He was free of symptoms from the 10th month of treatment. He was functionally and socially improved, as reflected in the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and there was no relapse for 8 months. Individualised homoeopathic treatment showed a positive result in the treatment of G.A.D. It brought about considerable improvement in the patient’s social, occupational and familial life without any adverse effects
Recognition of evidence-based traditional and complementary medicine (TCM) in G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration: Pointers for Homoeopathy
India just wrapped up its G20 presidency role, but not without key commitments for a promising future. It was, indeed, a heartening sight to see all twenty countries of the G20 group together on one platform, united to fight and address various global matters – with the theme ‘वसुधैव कुटुंबकम’, meaning ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ at the core of all discussions. The comprehensive document, G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration: Strengthening Global Health, and Implementing One Health Approach covers various aspects of global development and stability. Interestingly, under the subject ‘Strengthening Global Health and Implementing One Health Approach’, the strategic document talks of ‘Recognizing the potential role of evidence-based Traditional and Complementary Medicine (TCM) in health, and take note of international efforts in this direction, including WHO’s global and collaborating centres, and clinical trial registries’. This mention bears, in its essence, both the credit to the evidence-based TCM for its potential role in health, as well as a message for this pivotal sector in health – the message for moving further in this regard but not without clinical evidence or collaborations
Tinea cruris treated with individualised homoeopathic medicine – An evidence-based case report
Introduction: Tinea cruris, also commonly known as jock itch, is a skin infection caused by dermatophytes which are pathogenic fungi affecting genital, pubic, perineal and perianal areas. Tinea cruris more commonly affects men and affects adults more than children. Conventional management involves the use of topical antifungal agents and oral therapy in extensive cases. Case Summary: A case of tinea cruris in a 30-year-old male patient is reported, which was effectively treated with individualised homoeopathic medicine. Based on the totality of symptoms, the homoeopathic medicine Natrum muriaticum in 200C potency was prescribed as the first dose and improvement was observed in subsequent follow-ups. In this case, the causal attribution to the prescribed medicine was established by the Modified Naranjo Criteria Score. This evidenced-based case suggests that tinea cruris can be successfully managed with individualised homoeopathic treatment
