As employee creativity is an important source of organizational innovation and competitive advantage, organizations are increasingly seeking to foster individual creativity. In addition, with teamwork common in many organizations, individual creativity is often enacted in this context. Consistent with these trends, researchers have shown increasing interest in individual and team creativity. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of risk-taking orientation on individual and team creativity. We proposed that team risk-taking orientation associated with team creativity through team conflict. This study conducted multi-level analysis considering individual and team level simultaneously when team characteristics are composed of individual characteristics. To test our hypotheses, we collected survey-based data from diverse industries 411 employees and 95 teams in South Korea and utilized multilevel structural equation modeling. Also we used Monte Carlo Method for assessing mediation effect. The results revealed that risk-taking orientation was positively associated with individual creativity, but team risk-taking orientation was positively related to team conflict and that team conflict negatively related to team creativity. Moreover, the indirect effect of team risk-taking orientation through team conflict on team creativity. Based on these results, we discuss the theoretical and managerial implications of the study and suggest directions for future research on creativity

Mental Health and Welfare Act provides 3 types of involuntary hospitalization: hospitalization upon request from family members(Type 1), hospitalization by mayor(Type 2), and emergency hospitalization. The former two have 3 stages each: hospitalization for diagnosis, hospitalization for treatment, and renewal of hospitalization. One of the 5 Screening Committees for Hospital Admission reviews the regularity and necessity of hospitalization. Mayors are responsible for the renewal of hospitalization, but it is not until a preliminary examination is carried out by a Mental Health Examination Committee that the decisions are made. Admission of patients by medical institution(Type 1) or by mayor(Type 2) and renewal of each hospitalization are deemed administrative decisions subject to the Administrative Procedure Act. They are also deemed compulsory measures subject to the warrant requirement principle stipulated in the Art. 12 of the Constitution, or at least, the procedural guarantees equivalent to the requirement. The review of the Screening Committee and the decision on the renewal of the Type 1 hospitalization are not compulsory measures but, as they fall into the category of administrative decisions, they also are subject to the Administrative Procedure Act. Although Mental Health and Welfare Act provides some procedural guarantees to the patients, at some stages they fall short of the standard set up by the Administrative Procedure Act and the Constitution. This is even more the case with the following: There should be an advance notice and hearing procedure for hospitalizations for treatment and for renewal of hospitalization, but neither the Mental Health and Welfare Act provides such a procedure nor is the relevant provision of the Administrative Procedure Act applied in administrative practices. Screening Committees for Hospital Admission work as reviewing bodies and mayors, with the help of Mental Health Examination Committees, play a role of deciding bodies concerning the renewal of hospitalization, but they do not guarantee the kind of fairness and promptness that is the essence of the warrant requirement. In short, the present involuntary hospitalization system still needs procedural improvement as some parts of the system do not take into account the fact that each stage of the procedure can be analysed as an administrative decision or a compulsory measure or both.     Temperature effects on the propagation and Landau damping of the dust surface waves

    The integral of the kinetic electrostatic surface wave dispersion relation is evaluated to determine the wave frequency and the corresponding Landau damping rate for the surface mode of dust ion-acoustic waves including the effect of ion temperature by using the general perturbation and the transverse truncation methods. It is demonstrated that the increase in ion temperature enhances the wave frequency. The effect of ion temperature is more prominent in the range of large wave numbers, and the wave frequency increases in proportion to a quarter power of the ion temperature in the realm of large wave number. The Landau damping of the dust ion-acoustic surface wave is found to be suppressed as the ion temperature increases. However, the effect of ion temperature becomes negligible as the wave number increases. The effects of dust charge and electron density on the Landau damping rate are also presented in this work.     An Ecological Approach to Smart Homes for Health Care Services: Conceptual Framework of a Smart Servicescape Wheel

    Background: Smart homes are considered effective solutions for home health care for the elderly, as smart home technologies can reduce care costs and improve elderly residents' independence. To develop a greater understanding of smart homes for health care services (SHHSs), this study accentuated the necessity of ecological approaches with an emphasis on environmental constraints. This study was based on 2 rationales: (1) users are inclined to perceive the service quality and service experience from environments (ie, servicescape) owing to the intangibility of health care and the pervasiveness of smart home technologies, and (2) both service domains are complex adaptive systems in which diversified and undefined service experiences-not only a few intended service flows-can be generated by complex combinations of servicescape elements. Objective: This study proposed the conceptual framework of a Smart Servicescape Wheel (SSW) as an ecological approach delineating the extensive spectrum of environmental constraints in SHHSs. Methods: The SSW framework was established based on a literature review. Results: Generally divided by perceptible and imperceptible servicescapes, the SSW consists of the perceptible Physical scape (ie, hardware components, environmental cues, and human states) and Social scape (ie, service relationships and social relationships) as well as the imperceptible Datascape (ie, computing intelligence, databases, and communication networks). Following the ecological approach, each category of the SSW is subdivided and defined at the level of components or functions. Conclusions: The SSW's strengths lie in the various application opportunities for SHHSs. In terms of service planning and development, the SSW can be utilized to (1) establish the requirements for SHHS development, (2) associate with work domain analysis by defining component layers, and (3) understand the real contexts of SHHSs for the enhanced prediction of diverse service experiences. The research on the organizational culture has emphasized the importance of a unique and strong organizational characteristics to propel their innovation activities. Yet, an individual cognitive characteristic and its influence on co-working networks and innovation performance has not been highlighted. Note that the individuals might create their own cognitive bias in the perception of names. This implicit characteristics could be one of the implicit factors which can form a organizational sub-culture. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of cognitive bias on the innovation activities using the data from the networks of the US patent. We collected 32,874,742 patent inventor database from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) between 1976 and 2017 and selected the names of the 12 Apostles, which might contain a strong influence of cognitive bias in the western culture. We investigated the cognitive bias of the inventor's name, the network patterns of co-inventors, and the relevance of specific technical achievements by name.     Joule heating-induced sp2-restoration in graphene fibers

    Joule heating can instantaneously achieve high temperatures (>2000���°C) by applying electrical current on a resistive material. This ohmic heating by the passage of an electric current through a conducting domain may effectively heal the defective sites (i.e., vacancies, structural defects, and sp3 oxygen groups) of graphene oxide (GO) and revert them into sp2 domains. Indeed, the direction of electric field controls the texture of GO with preferential alignment, which significantly affects the transport properties along the fiber axis. Here we present electrical current-induced manipulation of resistive domain (i.e. Joule heating) as an effective healing method for the defect sites in GO fibers (GOFs). Systematic control of input current restores the sp2 lattice structures within fibers in a well-controlled manner. Structural evolution mechanism is proposed for multilayer stacked graphitic structures as well as graphene sheet plane under the reduction process. This defect-healing principle is rapid, environmentally benign and energy efficient, compared to other defect restoration methods, and yields tailored-aligned fibers with a high current-carrying capability and facile charge transport, which is potentially beneficial for power cables and other relevant applications.The authors would like to acknowledge the support from BM Holdings ONE.     Effect of calcination temperature on the association between free NiO species and catalytic activity of Ni-Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 deoxygenation catalysts for biodiesel production

    In this study, a series of Ni−Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 catalysts, which were synthesized by co-precipitation followed by calcination at different temperatures, were applied for the deoxygenation of oleic acid. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), H2 chemisorption, H2 temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR), NH3 temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The Ni−Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 catalyst calcined at 300���°C exhibited the highest conversion for oleic acid as well as selectivity for diesel-range compounds. It is predominantly related to the highest amount of free NiO species. This study analyzed population, employment, housing, and transit factors using U.S. census data in 2000 and 2016 to identify changes and status in the metropolitan areas and their central cities. T-test and regression analysis were employed as the analysis method. The analysis result shows that the stereotyped images of suburbs and central cities have sustained as ever. However, the metropolitan areas, which encompass them, appeared to have somewhat ambiguous characters due to the spatial wideness and geographic hybridity. Currently, it is believed that both the suburbanization and the re-urbanization stages are underway in the U.S. metropolitan areas. The slogan of smart growth, even though it has been over 30 years, has not been fully seated yet. The inverse proportion between the percentage of whites and the travel time may be interpreted as a sign that whites are relatively inclined to seek their shelters near workplaces. This study identified that employment is the most important factor in urban growth. As with the overall decline of caucasian population in the U.S., the effects of racial quotients in metropolitan areas seem to be slightly weaker than in the past

    The usefulness of the status of extranodal tumor extension as a factor that can predict the recurrence of stage III colorectal cancer

    Background: Extranodal tumor extension (ENTE) is considered a poor prognostic factor in colorectal cancer (CRC). This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for recurrence according to ENTE status in stage III CRC. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 169 consecutive stage III CRC patients. All patients underwent a curative resection between 2005 and 2010. The presence or absence of ENTE was assessed in the resected lymph nodes. Results: ENTE was observed in 65 (38.5%). Recurrence occurred in 38 patients (22.5%) and was more frequent (p = .041) in the ENTE (+) group. Disease-free survival (p = .016) was significantly shorter in the ENTE (+) group than in the ENTE (−) group. In a univariable analysis, recurrence was associated with vascular invasion (p = .006), perforation (p = .024) in the ENTE (−) group and perforation (p = .048) in the ENTE (+) group. In a Cox’s regression test, vascular invasion (p = .014) and the higher ratio of metastatic lymph nodes/total removed lymph nodes (MLN/TLN) (0.009) in the ENTE (−) group and perforation (p = .025) in the ENTE (+) group were independent risk factors of recurrence. Conclusions: Vascular invasion and the higher ratio of MLN/TLN in ENTE (−) patients and perforation in ENTE (+) patients were independent risk factors of recurrence.We thank Professor Nam in the Biostatistical Consulting and Research Lab, Hanyang University for statistical help with this study

    Efficacy of the HLA-B*58:01 Screening Test in Preventing Allopurinol-Induced Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions in Patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency-A Prospective Study

    BACKGROUND: Thus far, human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B*58:01 has been recognized as the most important risk factor for allopurinol induced severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). OBJECTIVE: To determine the usefulness of prospective screening for the HLA-B*58:01 allele to identify Korean individuals at risk for SCARs induced by allopurinol treatment. METHODS: We prospectively enrolled 542 patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) from 10 hospitals nationwide and performed DNA genotyping to determine whether they carried the HLA-B*58:01 allele. Of these, 503 HLA-B*58:01-negative patients (92.8% of total) were treated with allopurinol, and 39 HLA-B*58:01-positive patients (7.2%) were treated with febuxostat, an alternative drug. The patients then were followed up biweekly for 90 days using a telephone survey to monitor symptoms of adverse drug reactions, including SCARs. As a control, we used the historical incidence rate of allopurinol-induced SCARs in 4002 patients with CRI from the same hospitals who were enrolled retrospectively. RESULTS: Nineteen patients in the prospective cohort developed mild and transient adverse reactions but none showed allopurinol-induced SCARs. By contrast, we identified 38 patients with allopurinol-induced SCARs (0.95%) in the historical control. The difference in the incidence of allopurinol-induced SCARs between the prospective cohort and historical control was statistically significant (0% vs 0.95%, respectively; P = .029). CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated the clinical usefulness of the HLA-B*58:01 screening test before allopurinol administration to prevent allopurinol-induced SCARs in patients with CRI.
