Paralysis of the hands are caused by sequelae of neurological diseases such as stroke, spinal cord injury or other causes. Because hand performs various grasping movements for Activities of Daily Living(ADL), such paralysis of hands causes a discomfort to daily life and disabling independent activities of the patient. In this study, we propose the grasp control algorithm of a hand rehabilitation robot with individual movements of joints. The hand rehabilitation robot ReH2 is composed of thumb and index finger parts. It has two actuators per finger so a total of four actuators and complex structure of tendon and linkage mechanism. In order to derive the actuators power requirement of the robot, we simulate the robot and finger structure first. The finger was modeled using the passive moment generated by the musculoskeletal system of the human finger. The tendon inverse kinematics was used to simulate the relationship between the changes in the tendon length of the robot with respect to changes in the finger joints. In order to simplify the robot, we aimed that the hand rehabilitation robot interacts with various objects by using the impedance control without additional force sensor. At this time, synergy theory was used to establish the proper grasping sequence of segmented robots. This controller applied to a ReH2. We measured the force of the robot grasp operation using the load cell. And the motion capture program was used to verify movement within the Range of Motion of the real finger during robot operation. Finally, we confirmed it is possible to grasp objects of various sizes freely, and the operation of radial palmar grasp and radial digital grasp is verified.Maste

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis of hip has potential risk factors for mechanical complications in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) due to osteopenic periacetabular bone stock, increased bone turnover, and resorptive bone activity in the acetabular region. Several authors have reported a higher rate of acetabular cup loosening in rheumatoid arthritis than in osteoarthritis. However, long-term follow-up research on migration of acetabular components in patients with rheumatoid arthritis is lacking. The authors compared retrospectively the radiographic migration profiles between the patients with rheumatoid arthritis and those with osteoarthritis. A total of 268 patients (mean age, 53.8 years62 men, 206 women293 hips) underwent primary THA for rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis between Jan 2001 and Jan 2013. 122 patients (139 hips) with rheumatoid arthritis (RARA group) were compared with 146 patients (154 hips) with osteoarthritis (OAOA group). The two groups were matched for age, sex, body mass index, bone mineral density, the history of smoking and diabetes, disease duration, and implant design. The mean follow-up period was 134 months in the RA group and 122 months in the OA group. Radiological evaluation was performed using Einzel-Bild-Rntgen-Analyse (EBRA) software regarding the acetabular cup loosening and migration of acetabular component. Early cup migration was defined as total cup migration of >1mm within two years. Patient-related factors and laboratoy tests were assessed to identify influencing factors for cup migration. In RA group, early cup migration was observed in 13 hips (9.4%). Acetabluar cup loosening occurred in three cups (2.2%) and two acetabular components were revised. In OA group, early cup migration was observed in 5 hips (3.2%). Acetabular cup loosening occurred in one cup (0.6%), which required a revision surgery. There was significant difference in the incidence of early cup migration between two groups, but not in acetabular cup loosening (p=0.03, p=0.266, respectively). Mean total migration was higher in RA group (2.62 mm) than in OA group (1.44 mm, p=0.005). In patients younger than 50 years, the total cup migration was significantly higher than those in patients older than 50 years (p=0.005). Among the laboratory tests, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibody and rheumatoid factor (RF) were associated with acetabular cup migration in RA group. The patients with positive anti-CCP antibody or those with positive RF showed significantly higher total migration of acetabular component than those with negative anti-CCP antibody or RF (p=0.001, p=0.022, respectively). Between seropositive and seronegative RA patients, there were significant difference in total migration and migration at 4 years with higher values in seropositive RA patients (p=0.005, p=0.019, respectively) Acetabular cup stability in primary THAs of RA patients in intermediate-term follow-up was less stable in terms of cup migration compared to OA patients. Acetabular cup migration was higher especially in patients with seropositive RA less than 50 years of age. For these patients, secure stable fixation of the acetabular component at index operation and regular serial surveillance of cup migration are required.Maste

The treatment options of odontogenic sinusitis are medical treatment, endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) and dental treatment. The aim of this study is to determine whether dental treatment alone is sufficient or whether patients will eventually require ESS for odontogenic sinusitis treatment. A retrospective review performed of 37 patients with odontogenic sinusitis. Multiple factors including demographic factors, symptoms, endoscopic and CT findings, clinical course and management were analyzed. The patients lost during their follow-up or whose medical records omitted until the completion of treatment were excluded. Among total 29 patients who underwent dental treatment only or before ESS, 65.5%(19 patients) cured with dental treatment alone and 34.5%(10 patients) required ESS after failure of dental treatment. Eight patients was treated with ESS before dental treatment. Patients who smoke (p=0.036) and patients with higher Lund-Mackay score on CT finding (p=0.003), more severe purulent rhinorrhea score (p=0.047) required ESS after failure of dental treatment with statistical significance. Because odontogenic sinusitis is often improved by dental treatment alone, odontogenic sinusitis should be preceded by dental treatment and ESS should be performed after failure of dental treatment. However, if the CT findings show severe sinusitis, dental treatment alone will not improve the condition, so early ESS may be considered.Maste

We established a systematically organized experiments to study the correlation between not yet unexplored influencing factors (fringe visibility, light polarization modes, Bragg distance) and topography of unusual SRG. Poly (disperse red 1) acrylate (PDR1A) was accepted to fabricating light-driven hierarchical surface structures. With the help of atomic force microscope (AFM), delicate topological data as well as local mechanical change were investigated with the formation of unusual SRGs. As a result, a deeper understanding in photo-fluidic phenomena of azopolymers was achieved and multi-dimensional scalable optical grating was obtained. We also present new route for fabricating unique quasi-crystal surface pattern by using multiple-rotation light interference lithography (LIL) process. With a multiple light exposure and sample rotation with a specific angle, orderly arrayed but randomly modulated surface relief grating topology can be obtained. Furthermore, this optically unique surface relief pattern was accepted as light extraction layer in polymer-based light emitting diode (PLED) device, resulting in enhanced light extraction and increased device efficiency of PLED.Maste

Recently, in the case of the electric vehicle industry, technological developments for environment-friendly automobiles such as hybrid, electric car, and hydrogen automobile are increasing in gasoline and diesel fuel vehicles in accordance with the severe regulations on carbon dioxide emissions. In the case of automobiles that use specialized fossil fuels, it is important to produce and supply environmentally friendly automobiles that meet international standards for technological development, and to improve energy efficiency in response to these demands. The technology is suitable for producing environmentally friendly electric car, which is urgently needed is the development and dissemination of materials for magnetic field is directly related to the motor industry to increase the efficiency of the motor. Motors used in automobiles are used as BLDC (Brussless DC) motors in conventional DC motors with brushes to increase efficiency. BLDC motors have less noise and higher efficiency than DC motors because they have no brushes. The key component applied to this BLCD motor is a permanent magnet, which uses a rare earth permanent magnet as a means to increase the efficiency of the motor. Rare earth permanent magnets have much higher magnetic properties than conventional ferrite magnets, and the efficiency of the magnets is increasing with the development of material technology. In order to solve this problem, studies have been made to improve the high temperature characteristics by adding a third additive element such as Dy. Recently, applications of magnetic sensors using anisotropic magnets have been increasing through multipolar magnetization. Such parts are expected to expand day by day. Recently, the application range has been rapidly increased due to the development of multipolar magnetization technology for controlling high precision magnetic properties. In this study, we have tried to confirm the feasibility of using rare earth magnet, which is widely used as a material for high efficiency motors, as a material for BLDC motors. Rare earth magnets are produced from sintered or bonded magnets and have been studied for producing a bonded magnet that can be easily accessed for production. The addition of magnetic powder, bind, etc., was optimized for the effect of additive elements, and the prototype was produced, and the lifetime calculation by statistical method was derived to verify the commercialization possibility.Maste
