Ul-trapure water is used in the pharmaceutical industry, the electronics industry such as semiconductors and displays, the production of laboratory solutions, and boiler wa-ter for power generation purposes. Conventional unit processes for producing ultrapure water are reverse osmosis (RO), ion exchange resin (IER), and electrodeionization (EDI), and these processes are used as combined processes such as RO-EDI, RO-IER, double RO, and double IER. However, conventional processes have various problems such as periodic membrane replacement and waster liquid generation during regeneration process. Due to the rapid growth of industries using ultrapure water, demand for ultrapure water continues to grow. Thus, it is necessary to develop a new process that can in-crease production of ultrapure water to fulfill increasing demand and improve dis-advantages of conventional processes. Therefore, the research aimed to develop membrane distillation (MD)-capacitive deionization (CDI) combined process using sea water to produce ultrapure water that can overcome limitations of conventional unit processes, and the research was conducted focusing on the capacitive deioniza-tion. In this study, capacitive deionization module was manufactured, and a perfor-mance evaluation was conducted on a manufactured module using a NaCl solution of 10 ppm, which is maximum concentration of the effluent in the membrane distil-lation process. At present, the research on the capacitive deionization focuses on the electrodes, such as material, geometry, and surface treatment. There is a problem that the lifetime of the electrode and the performance of the module are deteriorated due to the inability to exhibit the original performance of the electrode due to the existence of a dead zone where no flow is formed in the CDI module and deioniza-tion does not occur. That is why, it is important to study the influences of the flow along the influent channel in the module. Therefore, in this study, the performance of NaCl solution of 10 ppm, which is maximum concentration of effluent in the membrane distillation process, was eval-uated according to the size of the influent channel inside the module and the flow rate of influent. The lowest conductivity, the time required to reach the lowest con-ductivity and the removal efficiency of NaCl are used as the performance index. As the influent channel sized increases and the flow rate decreased, the lowest conductivity of effluent decreased and the time required to reach the lowest conduc-tivity increased during the adsorption process. Removal efficiency of NaCl tended to increase as the size of the influent channel was increased, and at the influent flow rate of 40 and 100 ml/min, removal efficiency of NaCl was lower than that of 60 and 80 ml/min. Based on these results, the influent channel size with optimum performance in the module produced in this study is 15 mm, the flow rate of the influent is 60 ml/min, which showed lowest conductivity of 0.864 S/cm, the time required to reach the lowest conductivity of 120 secs and the removal efficiency of NaCl was 91.5%.Maste

individuals are using through the diversified information as well as the devices performance. The advent of such a smart environment not only provides users with a variety of services, but also gives services that meet the needs of individuals in their life, so that it is being closely connected with their personal domains. As the service becomes naturally connected to a personalized domain, the experience and value creation that individual users feel have become an important variable in terms of service utilization, and it can be said that providing a user-centered personalized experience for the purpose is ultimately the key to providing a valuable service to users. In the multidimensional smart service environment, indiscreet and vast services are causing problems in the decline of the user experience(UX), which is due to the fact that it overlooks the importance of individual users tendency and differentiated value as it provides the same experience as the past without taking into account characteristics and context that they have in the rapidly changing smart era. Therefore, this study aimed at reconsidering the necessity of user experience(UX) design through the environment or context that users have as a method for improving the utilization intention of services which users experience in a smart service environment and at establishing a theory on how to utilize the optimized experience design to improve the user service experience and suggesting the application methods by drawing experience design factors based on user context in the smart service according to changes in the personalization paradigm. In the course of this study, the factors of experience design were derived as intuitive experience and functional experience depending on the cognitive level of the user experience(UX) through the service paradigm, based on the understanding of the personalization phenomenon of the smart service. The context factors for application to an experience design were largely derived in three factors: sensible factor, contextual factor, and relational factor considering the characteristics of the user context, and as details of each factor, a total of 9 items were derived to understand how they affect the understanding and satisfaction of the service, the intention to use smart services as follows: possibility of manipulation, convenience of manipulation, and understanding of information in the sensible factor, user context, situational context, and social context in the contextual factor, and interaction, user accessibility, and user participation in the relational factor. It formed a research hypothesis that experience design factors based on user context will have an effect on the intention to use smart services according to the factors derived from theoretical considerations and tried to propose a system for utilizing an optimized experience design based on user context through investigation of users. To do this, a survey was done for a total of 205 people to verify the hypothesis on the intention to use smart services according to experience design and context factors and to analyze the difference depending on the degree of service recognition while identifying the presence of a smart service experience according to age, one of the demographic variables, and the degree of smart service usage. As a result of the study, it was found that context factors had a significant effect on the understanding and satisfaction of the service, the intention to use the service according to intuitive and functional experience factors. In case of the analysis of the importance of context-based experience design factors, the intuitive and functional experiences appeared in the order of sensible, relational, and contextual factors and of sensible, contextual, and relational factors, so it was found that the differentiated application of context factors was required in designing each experience design. For the detailed factors of each factor, there were differences depending on the experience design factors, and especially in the analysis of the difference according to the age of users and the degree of smart service usage, it showed that the preferences of the detailed factors were different depending on the subjects. Therefore, it was able to confirm that a differentiated experience design should be applied depending on the characteristics of the user, and it tried to provide a practical assistance to design and implement a more efficient and practical smart service environment by suggesting context-based experience design system models and grounds that can improve the user experience(UX) for smart services through analysis results. Changes in the service environment through innovation in smart technology provide a valuable experience in the personal life by meeting the convenience of daily life and the needs of individuals in various ways. In addition, users are pursuing the creation of various values and experiences in a diversified service environment, and to do this, studies on the user experience(UX) design utilization plans should be continued considering the context and value surrounding individual users in the smart service environment.Docto

With the crisis of the welfare state and the limit of financial capitalism globally, attention to the social economy is growing as an alternative to solve it. To revitalize the social economy, the government and private sectors are expanding their investment in resources and are paying attention to the need for valuation. Therefore, its value evaluation created by the social economy has an inseparable relationship between continuous management of its group and its development, furthermore, it requires a worry and responsibility about how to evaluate this value. Thus, this study is focused on finding, analyzing, and evaluating its value over a point of view lead by government and private after the social economy group becomes a principal agent. For this reason, based on the Beautiful Store, which is the most representative social economy company in Korea, this study estimates its social and economical value quantitatively by using a social return on investment(SROI). Through this, a value produced by the social economy can be transferred to an overt value and it also leads a participant of the people concerned. Also, that it can be a various point of view such as the meaning and limitations of the practical social economic spheres through exploratory evaluation. Furthermore this study expects this research on social economic value assessment to enrich and contribute to the establishment of an advanced social economic ecosystem. , . , . , . , , . (SROI: Social Return on Investment) . , . , . , .Maste

Development of machine learning applications is common in various fields of industry. Neural network-based algorithms popularly used are known for property of black box. In accordance with the stream of right to know, interpretable machine learning (IML) or explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) is getting interested as hot issue in the field of machine learning / artificial intelligence. Two hot keywords, interpretability and explainability, are used in mixed way. In spite of the absence of unified term, we think interpretability and explainability have same meaning, and will treat two terms equally. There are two big approaches in the field of interpretable ML. Intrinsic interpretable models mean machine learning models that are regarded interpretable due to their simple structure, such as decision trees or linear models. Post hoc interpretable models represent the application of model- agnostic interpretability methods after model training. For instance, permutation feature importance is a kind of post hoc interpretability methods. In this article, we covered both of intrinsic interpretability and model- agnostic interpretability. Therefore, we proposed three perspective of effective machine learning approaches using interpretability: Development of intrinsic interpretable model (PCAR) Development of feature summary statistic and visualization (CR2D plot) Applying model-agnostic methods to post hoc interpretable model (SAX-TM and its statistical properties) Fist, for the development of intrinsic interpretable model, we proposed predictability based collective class association rule mining (PCAR). Since basically rule based classification, it clarifies rationale of classification according to each record of database. Most of all, PCAR extracts predictability of each rules in the phase of rule evaluation. PCAR uses good rules which has high predictability preferentially. We verified that PCAR reduces classification error comparing to other popular rule-based algorithms. Second, for the development of feature summary statistic and visualization, we proposed algorithm to validate robustness of the viii representative pattern. We created two feature summary statistics, coverage rate (CR) and ranking distance (RD). Then, we plotted CR and RD in a same time for meaningful use of those statistics and named it as CR2D plot. CR2D plot could distinguish the normal majority streams with outliers. After off-line training, we can monitor whether new stream is outlier or not in on-line environment Lastly, in applying model-agnostic methods to post hoc interpretable model, we proposed symbolic aggregate approximation with transition matrix (SAX-TM) algorithm. Original SAX cannot capture trend information in the perspective of shape of time series. SAX-TM can represent trend information by appending transition matrix to basic SAX. In addition, we identified intrinsic statistical properties of SAX-TM. We selected information loss, KL-divergence, and information embedding cost as important measurements referring to literature review. SAX-TM remarkably reduce classification error comparing with SAX and shows explicit profits in accuracy even though it merely appended transition information to original SAX.Docto

For example, more than one million patients receiving bone grafts annually in the United State alone, at a cost greater than $5 billion. In the last few decades, tissue engineering approaches have been proposed as an alternative therapeutic strategy for the treatment of bone diseases. Conventionally, tissue engineering approaches utilized stem cell, a scaffold for 3 dimensional (3D) support for cell attachment, growth, and proliferation, and bio-signaling molecules to stimulate the differentiation of stem cells. However, still, these approaches remained challenging to design the suitable scaffold to fulfill the needs of fields. With the recent development in understanding the intricate interactions of the cell with their surrounding microenvironment, now researchers are focused to fabricate tissue engineering scaffolds by mimicking the structural and compositional cues of extracellular matrix (ECM). Interstingly, electrospining is a cost effective process to fabricate nanofiber with a wide range of materials. Therefore, electrospun nanofiber has been widely explored in tissue engineering due to their structural similarities with ECM, providing large surface area and porosity which favors the cell migration, attachment, and proliferations. In addition, nanofibers are further surface modified with bioactive molecules to better control the differentiation of cells. However, nanofibers are collected in 2D sheet form and still, has limitation to fabricate 3D tissue. Here to overcome these limitations, I developed a composite spheroid incorporating engineered ECM prepared from fragmented electrospun fibers to tune stem cell functions. Firstly, an electrospun fibrous mesh of poly (-lactic acid) (PLLA) was aminolyzed into fragmented fibers (FFs), subsequently polydopamine coating for cell attachment. For preliminary characterization composite of fibroblast were fabricated which showed a significant increase of DNA content and viable nuclei in hybrid-spheroids. Similarly, composite showed significantly higher proliferation and viability of human turbinate mesenchymal stem cells (hTMSCs). Moreover, cells and fibers were homogenously distributed in composite spheroids, TEM analysis confirmed the cells tightly bound to PD-FF as well as maintaining cell-cell contacts. These characteristics led to significant growth factor secretion, preservation of stemness under the growth media, and osteogenic differentiation upon induction. Then, stem cell functions were controlled by a mineralized coating of FFs (mFF). Minerals were homogeneously coated on FFs surface. Alizarin staining revealed the homogenous distribution of mFFs in composite spheroids of human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSCs). Further, mFFs incorporation upregulated the expression of osteogenic markers. Then, a millimeter-scaled tissue construct was fabricated with a fusion of composite spheroids. The mineralized composite spheroids were compactly fused into single bone-like tissue construct revealing the homogenous distribution of cells and minerals. Finally, to mimic the bone signaling microenvironment, the FFs were modified with one-step adenosine polydopamine coating named AP-FF to induce adenosine signaling in composite spheroids for osteogenic differentiation. The polydopamine significantly enhanced the adenosine coating and retention on the fiber surface. Moreover, AP-FF incorporation into hADSCs composite spheroids significantly enhanced the adenosine 2b receptor (a2bR) expression. This activation of A2bR signaling led to significant upregulation of osteogenic markers in growth media and the synergetic effect was observed in osteogenic media. Moreover, A2bR signaling significantly inhibited the adipogenic differentiation of hADSCs in adipogenic differentiation media. Then, implantation of composite spheroids in subcutaneous tissue also showed significant minerals deposition and osteogenic markers expression in the ectopic region. Finally, implantation of composite spheroids in mouse calvarial model significantly enhanced the bone regeneration. Taken together, this composite spheroid platform can be an alternative approach for in vivo cell delivery carrier, in vitro tissue model development, and for bioprinting applications. , . 100 50 . . , 3 . . , . , . 3 3 . . poly (l-lactic acid) (PLLA) (FF) , . DNA . (human turbinate mesenchymal stem cellDocto

Regulation of oncoproteins by deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) and their implications in the anti-cancer therapeutics

    No full text
Protein post-translational modifications (PTM) such as ubiquitination, deubiquitination, phosphorylation etc. are vital mechanisms in cellular regulation through affecting protein degradation, activity and signaling. LIN28Aan evolutionarily conserved RNA-binding protein has pivotal roles in cancers as aberrant expression of LIN28A is related to metastasis and poor prognosis. Till now, limited data is available regarding the post-translationalregulatory mechanisms involved in LIN28A protein stabilization and cancer progression. Herein, I report that LIN28A protein undergoes ubiquitination which is reversed by Ubiquitin-specific protease 28 (USP28). This research also demonstrates the consequential functional effects of USP28-mediated LIN28A protein stability on tumor progression. Overall, this research emphasizes the role of DUBs in contributing to effective cancer therapeutics. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation being pivotal for multiple cell signaling processes involved in proliferation and apoptosis is tightly regulated to check deleterious oxidizing effects causing carcinogenesis. NADPH oxidases catalyze cellular ROS generation via NOX-related proteins. Herein, I report the role of CYLD in regulating NOXO1 protein and subsequent ROS generation and cancer. This study suggests a novel therapeutic approach of targeting NOXO1 and ROS generation by CYLD enzyme.Docto

The silicon nitride (SiNx) using 1,3-di-isopropylamino-2,4dimethylcyclosilazane (CSN-2) and N2 remote plasma was investigated. The growth rate of SiNx thin films was saturated at 200 - 500 , which has a wide range of process window region, and the growth rate was approximately 0.38 /cycle. The physical and chemical properties of the SiNx were investigated as a function of deposition temperature. We were able to obtain the stoichiometric SiNx thin film at 500 , and thin film with more conformal and good etching characteristics could be confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and wet etch rate test as the temperature increased. However, it is necessary to further improve the characteristics of the thin film at 350 , which is a low process temperature for depositing a gate spacer in logic device. Therefore, we developed 3 step process which is the H2 plasma step was introduced before the N2 plasma step. When the H2 plasma step was introduced between the precursor and reactant, the H radical acts as a precursor ligand removing and the N2 plasma breaks H atoms and deposited. In order to investigate the effect of H2 plasma, we evaluated the growth rate, step coverage and wet etch rate according to H2 plasma exposure time (10 30 sec). As a result, the side step coverage increased from 82 % to 105 % for the narrow pattern (AR : 2.7) and the bottom step coverages increased from 90 % to 110 % maximum. By increasing the H2 plasma (30 sec), the wet etch rate was 32 /min, which is much lower than the case of only N2 plasma (43 /min).Maste

As the materials consisting the solder joint, Sn-Ag-Cu (SAC) alloy for Pb-free solder and Cu are widely used in microelectronic packaging industry. However, when the SAC solder reacts with the Cu, the rapid growth of intermetallic compound (IMC) and formations of microvoid and large Ag3Sn plate degrade the solder joint reliability. The mobile products such as the smart phone and tablet PC are easily exposed to the drop impact in daily life. Therefore, the impact reliability of solder joint has been served as a serious issue. In addition, since the pitch size of electronic packages is continuously reduced, sustaining the reliability of solder joint has become more a critical factor in the electronic package. Among minor alloying elements adding to SAC solder, Zn was the best to modify the microstructure and to improve the solder joint reliability. However, due to the Zn oxide on the surface of solder, the Zn-doped solder was limited to apply the soldering process in the electronics industry. Therefore, using an electroplating method, Cu-Zn alloy for Pb-free solder wetting layer was introduced to replace the Cu wetting layer. The delayed growth of IMC and no formation of large Ag3Sn plate and microvoid were observed at the SAC/Cu-Zn interface, resulting in improved drop impact reliability. However, the drop impact reliability for eco-friendly Cu-Zn wetting layer was not accessed after aging and Cu-Zn alloy was electroplated in an alkaline solution that can damage the polymer materials used in chip level interconnection. Furthermore, for SAC/Cu-Zn joint, electromigration behavior as an emerging issue with decreasing the pitch size has been not studied yet. In this dissertation, the impact and electromigration reliabilities of SAC/Cu-Zn joints were investigated. Cu-Zn wetting layer was electroplated in a non-cyanide solution with a neutral pH. A newly developed near-neutral solution has compatibility with the polyimide and photoresist used in chip level interconnection. After reliability tests, the interfacial microstructure of SAC/Cu-Zn joint was characterized and improved reliabilities were discussed through the failure modes of solder joint. In chapter 1, the research background on the Pb-free solder joint, under bump metallurgy and surface finish, microstructure of solder joint, reliability issues in solder joint is described. Next, the previous studies of SAC/Cu-Zn solder joint are reviewed the research objectives are described. In chapter 2, drop impact reliability was evaluated and failure mechanism was analyzed in SAC/Cu-Zn joint. Before and after aging, the drop impact reliability of Cu-Zn specimens was superior to that of Cu specimens. The crack mainly initiated at the solder/IMC interfaces in both Cu and Cu-Zn specimens so that the difference of the drop reliability was attributed to the crack propagation and major failure sites. The failures for Cu and Cu-Zn specimens occurred in IMC interface and IMC interior, respectively. Since the stress relaxation through dislocation transmission at the IMC interface was more difficult, the drop impact reliability of SAC/Cu-Zn joint was greater than that of SAC/Cu joint. In chapter 3, the crystal structure of phases at the SAC/Cu-Zn interface was analyzed, and the interfacial reaction and impact reliability between SAC and Cu-Zn electroplated in the neutral solution were investigated. As the Zn concentration increased in the Cu-xZn, the crystal structure was changed from -CuZn to -CuZn. The crystal structure of Cu-Zn IMCs was determined to '-CuZn. At the SAC/Cu-Zn interface, Cu6(Sn, Zn)5 was a dominant IMC and Cu-Zn IMCs were observed beneath the Cu6(Sn, Zn)5 with an increasing aging time. The interfacial microstructure and shear strength of solder joints were similar between the neutral and alkaline solutions. In addition, impact reliability for Cu-Zn wetting layer was superior to that for Cu and Ni wetting layers. In chapter 4, the electromigration reliability of SAC/Cu-Zn joint was investigated under current density of 1.1 104 A/cm2. After current stressing for 150 h, at the cathode side, the void induced by electromigration was more suppressed in SAC/Cu-Zn joint than in SAC/Cu joint. At the anode side, the IMC thickness of Cu-Zn specimen was thinner than of Cu specimen. Due to the anisotropic properties of Sn, the two failure modes were observed in both Cu and Cu-Zn specimens. Failure mode 1 was Cu dissolution and failure mode 2 was void propagation at the cathode sides. The lifetime of mode 1 was shorter than that of mode 2. Since the failure mode 1 was suppressed and lifetimes for both mode 1 and 2 were longer in SAC/Cu-Zn joints, the electromigration reliability of SAC/Cu-Zn joint was greatly improved after current stressing. In conclusions, the feasibility of applying the eco-friendly Cu-Zn wetting layer to the board level and chip level interconnections is confirmed using the neutral solution, and the Cu-Zn alloy is a candidate as a promising solder wetting layer for highly reliable solder joint in the advanced electronic packages.Docto
