Pedagogic Competence of Lecturers with Non-Educational Backgrounds in the Challenges of 21st Century Learning
Get PDFLearning in the 21st century requires lecturers and students to think critically, creatively innovatively, have communication skills, collaborate and use of ICT. The pedagogical competence of lecturers is the key to educational efficiency in improving the quality of learning and the quality of graduates. The background of lecturers from non-education increasingly casts doubt on the quality of lecturer teaching in challenging 21st-century learning activities. This study aims to identify, describe, and analyze how the application and efforts to develop the pedagogical competence of non-educational lecturers in learning in 4 public and private universities in Banyumas Regency. This descriptive qualitative research uses observation and interview methods on 20 respondents taken purposively at four universities in Banyumas Regency. The process of collecting and analyzing information data uses qualitative research data analysis steps developed by Miles & Huberman (1992), namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation and (3) conclusions. The results showed how pedagogic competence possessed by lecturers with non-educational backgrounds, how it is applied in learning, how lecturers\u27 efforts in developing their pedagogic competence, how universities facilitate pedagogic development, and the challenges faced by lecturers with non-educational backgrounds in developing pedagogic competence in supporting 21st-century learning

Social Exclusion and Consumer Preference for Crowded Shopping Environments: The Moderating Role of Time Perspective
Get PDFIntroduction: This study investigates how social exclusion influences consumer preferences for crowded shopping environments and examines the moderating role of time perspective. Specifically, it explores the mediating role of social connectedness and how present hedonism and fatalism impact these preferences.Methods: Three experimental studies tested the hypotheses. Participants were randomly assigned to social exclusion or inclusion conditions, and their preferences for crowded environments were measured. Time perspective (present hedonism and fatalism) and social connectedness were also assessed.Results: Results show that socially excluded consumers prefer crowded environments to fulfill their social connectedness needs. Present hedonism intensifies this preference, while present fatalism diminishes it. The findings demonstrate the significant role of social exclusion and time perspective in shaping consumer behavior.Practical Implications: These findings provide actionable strategies for retailers to design environments that address the psychological needs of socially excluded consumers. Retailers can use these insights to create targeted marketing strategies, especially in a post-pandemic context, where social interactions are evolving.Originality/Value: This study offers new insights into the psychological mechanisms behind consumer behavior in response to social exclusion. Aim: This study aims to identify factors influencing banking system stability by analyzing the European Union\u27s banking experience. Methods: A statistical analysis was conducted to determine the key factors affecting stability and prioritize those requiring regulatory focus. The research employed general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization) and a specific method—a multiple regression model—to identify factors ensuring financial stability. Results and conclusions: Findings reveal regional disparities and instabilities in the distribution of major banks across EU countries. This highlights the need for proactive fiscal stability measures. The multiple regression analysis identified significant determinants of banking stability, including capital cost and accessibility, investment activity, financial stability risks, digital security, and data protection. Get PDFThe immediate placement of post-extraction dental implants represents an innovative technique in implantology, designed to preserve bone architecture and optimize the stability of peri-implant tissues. The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of immediate post-extraction implant placement with soft tissue grafting and guided tissue regeneration in preserving bone architecture and peri-implant tissue stability. This case study involved a 37-year-old male patient who underwent atraumatic extraction of a root remnant in tooth #14. Subsequently, a SIM Cono Morse implant (3.5 x 11.5 mm) was placed, with the GAP filled with bovine bone graft and the alveolus hermetically sealed using a connective tissue graft from the palate. Clinical and radiographic follow-up was conducted over a three-month period. The results showed proper implant integration, with no significant peri-implant bone loss and adequate soft tissue healing in both surgical sites. The technique reduced the number of surgical interventions and the total treatment time, achieving a satisfactory functional and aesthetic outcome. In conclusion, the approach of immediate post-extraction implant placement with soft tissue grafting and guided bone regeneration proves to be effective and predictable in preserving bone architecture and peri-implant tissue stability, offering significant advantages in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and patient satisfactio

Get PDFThe research addresses the intersection between digital culture and the STEAM movement, focusing on the communication between women researchers of the National System of Researchers of CONAHCYT in Mexico and those who are in training. This study aims to analyze a sociodigital network where women communicate aspects related to their disciplines and who find related topics with STEAM areas. With a qualitative approach, the methodology of communication ethnography is used to analyze the discourse in a specific Facebook group. It is important to mention that those who are not mothers and those who have no academic affiliation are excluded, in order to maintain consistency in the sample and the relevance of the data collected. It also seeks to identify the profiles of women who do science or who are related to it. The methodology is qualitative, using the technique of discourse analysis from the ethnography of communication. Communication within this social network group is characterized by being horizontal and supportive, fostering an environment of mutual support and collaboration. This study seeks to understand the communicative dynamics in this context, in view of the professional development of women in STEAM
The Relationship Between Addiction and Emotional Intelligence in the Ukrainian Socio-Cultural Context: Challenges of Emigration
Get PDFIntroduction: The development of emotional intelligence has a positive impact on the process of adaptation of migrants from Ukraine in the European Union and prevents the spread of addictions. Aim: The aim of this research was to study the relationship between migrants\u27 emotional intelligence and the development of addictions in the context of adaptation to new conditions due to the hostilities. Methods: the study used such methods as testing and questionnaires, respectively, ASI and Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT). Results: It was found that individuals with a higher level of emotional intelligence have a lower tendency to form various types of addictions, while those with a lower level of EI are more vulnerable to these problems. This suggests that a high level of emotional intelligence contributes to better emotion management, the ability to adapt to stressful situations, and a better understanding of one\u27s own needs and motivations. Conclusion: a high level of emotional intelligence makes it possible to prevent the formation of dependencies in the process of cross-cultural adaptation of migrants from Ukraine to new conditions against the background of a hostilities in Ukraine
Prospects for the development of rural tourism in China in the context of the One Belt, One Road initiative
Get PDFBackground: The modern world is experiencing an unflagging interest in rural tourism, causing its consideration as a powerful tool of international economic strategies for the development of local communities, preserving national traditions and ensuring sustainable economic growth of regions. Aims: The study\u27s goal is to examine the features and promotion trends of Chinese rural tourism in the context of the One Belt, One Road program. Materials and Methods: To achieve the research objectives, the following methods were used: axiomatic, hypothetico-deductive, comparative. Results: The results of the work determined that China’s One Belt, One Road initiative acts not just as an economic project, but also as a platform for cultural and social exchange between countries. Within its framework, rural tourism has become a tool to energize local economies. Traditional handicrafts, agro-tourism, and attractions attract tourists, contributing to job creation and increasing local incomes. The study found that rural tourism is becoming a key area of focus for the programme, as infrastructure facilities targeting the tourist flow are being developed, encouraging regions to be active in this area. Increased attention is paid to the sustainable development of rural tourism. This not only preserves natural resources, but also helps to maintain and popularize the cultural heritage of the regions. Despite a number of achievements, there are also challenges such as inconsistency of standards, service problems and insufficient infrastructure development in remote areas. Conclusions: Based on the analysis, it can be argued that rural tourism in China will continue to grow, especially with the support of government initiative
Effect of focus group opinions on final film making product: Sociological and marketing aspects
Get PDFIntroduction: Focus groups are widely used today for researching film product concepts, testing, advertising, and viewer satisfaction. Objective: to reveal the ideas and concepts of focus groups in the film industry to form research hypotheses and understand the perception and attitude of group interview participants to the phenomena and problems of film production. Methods: Methodology used in this study was a survey with 354 respondents divided into 52 groups to cover various demographic characteristics (age, social status, ethnicity). Results: The analysis of the study showed that group focus interviews can be used to collect additional data after quantitative surveys and help to interpret the results more fully. The analysis described the use of focus groups as a demand tool based on personal experience, paying particular attention to the purpose, stage, and content. The results showed that group discussions often lead to many ideas and inspirations that can be gathered on a topic in a very short time, efficiently and quickly, and respondents can compare and analyse their personal experiences, which is a valuable resource. Conclusions: Research relevance is highlighted by the effectiveness of focus group discussions in helping businesses in the film industry understand consumer insights better than general survey
