Alcohol is one of the alternative fuels that can give significant different on engine combustion characteristic as well as exhausts emission. In this study, the influence of 2-butyl alcohol/ Diesel blends on the combustion characteristic of a DI diesel engine was investigated by using three different fuel blends (Diesel, DBu5, and DBu10). Both 2-butyl alcohol and diesel fuel were blended together before tested on 3 liter common-rail direct injection diesel engine by their percentage (volume) of 2-butyl alcohol 5% (DBu5) and 2-butyl alcohol 10% (DBu10). The test results were analysed and compared with a base diesel engine operate at same speed and load. The tests in a compression ignition engine including analysis of combustion characteristics. The experiments were handled at five different speeds in the same operating condition. The results shows that the use of 2-butyl alcohol fuels blends, ignition delay is increased, maximum in-cylinder pressures are marginally reduced and in-cylinder temperatures are reduced during the combustion. The addition of 2-butyl alcohol can considerably improve CO2 emissions and slightly increase on NOx and CO

In 2007, Malaysia announced that all public listed firms on Bursa Malaysia were required to report information on corporate social responsibility (environmental, community, market or workplace) in the Annual Report. However, there is still no regulation or legislation that obliges the firm to report on environmental information. With today\u27s global awareness of the environment, this study is conducted to look at the level of environmental reporting for the environmentally sensitive industry in Malaysia. Environmental reporting is an independent variable tested on firm performance as a dependent variable. The firm\u27s performance is measured by Return on Equity and Tobin\u27s Q, and is controlled by four variables; firm size, leverage, liquidity and audit quality. Content analysis of the annual report was used to collect data from 1,151 annual reports for four sectors in the environmental sensitive industry namely property, construction, plantation and industrial products listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia from 2011, 2012 and 2013. Regression analysis was carried out to test the hypotheses developed to see the relationship of environmental reporting to the firm\u27s performance in Malaysia. The findings show that there is a significant positive relationship between environmental reporting and firm performance
