Automation of water treatment plant in batik industries has already been developed and widely used in Malaysia. However, the majority of the batik effluent treatment systems which is in small and medium scale batik industries are still using manual automation system. Unfortunately, by using manual automation system is time consuming especially when human supervision is required during a long cycle of batik effluent treatment. Therefore, this paper focuses on design of a system to cope with this problem by proposing a design of an automatic automation control system for batik effluent treatment embedded with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) Siemens Logo! 230RC. PLC Siemens Logo! 230RC is used to communicate with input and output devices for batik effluent treatment system. The automatic automation system was designed and tested using a pilot plant which was installed at Nordin Batik and Craft, Kelantan. The results showed the overall time consumed by input and output devices (floating sensors, PH sensor, water pumps, blower and dosing pump) to treat batik effluent is t = 2 hours 25 minute per cycle. The comparison between automatic automation by using PLC to a manual technique in term of annual cost saving are analysed. As the results, RM 15101.30 is able to be saving yearly by using this automatic automation system. Hence, this system presented as an effective automatic automation system in term of reducing human supervision, time consuming and cost effective

    Get PDF
This study investigated the ability of engine exhaust pressure on a gasoline engine as an alternative usage. The investigation is based on the similar idea in turbocharges system development which exhaust gas drive a turbine to spins an air compressor that push extra air and oxygen into the cylinders. Alternative usage in this study means the exhaust pressure produce by using simple tools act as an emergency pump for under inflation tyre. Implementation of this study is to ease the emergency situation that rarely occurred or may occur, especially for motorist in urgent situation. It will help many drivers either to repair or buy any special tools in market. This study focused on the experimental method by refill the air in the tyre with exhaust gas and discussion on the results. The pressure produces by the backpressure need to achieve required pressure (140kPa to 220kPa) to pump under inflation tyre. However, the major problem is this exhaust pressure will be decrease after the gas flow through the catalytic converter and muffler. The parameters were measured during the engine operation: one is revolution per minutes (rpm) produce by the exhaust stroke engine and the other is pressure increase in under inflation tyre. As a result, exhaust pressure can be used as emergency case but more prefer to refill motorcycle tyre pressure or unloaded tyre for a car. It also acts as an optional to conventional pump for pressurize the under inflation tyre. This study can be continuing by increasing the number of data includes any size of vehicle and redesign a special tool to increase the exhaust pressure after the exhaust manifold

Lower academic requirements are required for admission to the KV program contributing to the negative perception of the community. More worryingly, most students who are not eligible to enter into any other program that are applied online will be opted into the PPU Technology Program optionally. The same and repeatable PdP method can also cause the student\u27s boredom and intellectual ability to be measured optimally. This study aims to examine the factors of awareness of metacognition and student achievement. This study also wanted to identify the difference in metacognition awareness and its relationship based on achievement. This survey was conducted on 205 SVM students and DVM PPU Technology Program, Vocational College in Perak. Samples are randomly selected. Questionnaire was used, then the data were analyzed descriptively and inferred. The findings show that the level of consciousness of metacognition is at a moderate level with a mean score of 3.95. Pearson correlation analysis shows that there is a relationship between metacognition awareness and student achievement. The results of the descriptive analysis also show that there are sub-dimensional differences (planning, self checking and cognitive strategies) among high achievers students with low achievers. In conclusion, this study suggests that attention should be focused on the development of metacognition awareness for low achiever students so that their learning process is more meaningful. Metacognition awareness helps to improve learning by guiding KV students thinking, helping to determine the behaviors that will be taken when trying to understand things, solve problems and make better decisions in preparation for the 4th industry revolution

Tuning Single Cylinder Two Stroke Engine Using Expansion Chamber

    Get PDF
Expansion chamber is an exhaust system used for power tuning in two strokes engines. The important of designing appropriate expansion chamber is for power tuning in two stroke engine to ensure the engine to produce more power output with a reduction of polluted emission as well. The two stroke engine does not utilize an exhaust stroke or complicated valve to emit the burnt gases from cylinder like four stroke engine. The incoming mixture charged is used to help push the burnt gases out of the exhaust port. This is not an efficient process since some of the burnt gases remained in the cylinder and may be some of the new mixture charge escaped through the open exhaust port. Thus expansion chamber enhances and control the flow through the engine by using pressure pulse. Two-stroke engines complete the process cycle in one crankshaft revolution: thescavenging process takes place when the piston is close to the bottom dead center, with the opportunity to open and close the cylinder ports by means of the piston motion, greatly reducing the number of moving parts. This solution however, typically used in small engines, imposes a symmetrical timing with respect to the bottom dead center, leading to a lower scavenging efficiency than a four-stroke engine. Except for the short rpm range of dynamic tuning, two-stroke engines are affected by the short-circuit of fresh air-fuel mixture during the scavenging process: this phenomenon results in a fuel loss, subsequent lower torque and higher specific consumption, and also in an inevitable increase in pollutant emissions. Thus expansion chamber enhances and control the flow through the engine by using pressure pulse. The design of an expansion chamber will have an effect on the pressure movement. The design was based on different cross section and length, depending on the requirement of the type of engine. Expansion chamber will be design using empirical design process. By experimentation using ‘test dyno’, result obtained will be used to ensure better engine performance
