Experimental Investigation on Mechanical Properties of Bagasse Reinforced PE Composite for Automotive Component
The use of natural fibers as a polymer composite additive is one of the alternative in the production of automotive components. It adds value to the wasted natural ingredients while reducing the depleted use of petroleum-based materials and also reducing the impact of pollution on the environment. In this research, specimen of composite is constructed from polymer (polyethylene, PE) as the main ingredient and cane bagasse fiber as additives in three ratio of composition 60%:40%, 50%:50 and 40%:60%. The tests performed to determine the mechanical properties of the composite specimen are charpy impact and flamebility test. The study from the charpy impact test shows composite A, 60% PE:40% sugar cane bagasse fiber has provided a good ductility, strength and toughness. Meanwhile the results of flamebility test also shows a composite C 40% PE:60% sugar cane bagasse fiber has the best burn resistance properties. The significant combination of PE and cane bagasse fiber composite to produce the automotive component is 50%:50%, cause it provide good value to meet the mechanical properties of impact and flamebility. As a recommendation for improvement, smaller ratios are used for sugarcane fibers as a comixed PE to see more accurately the effectiveness and other mechanical tests such ashardness and water absorption tests
Use of Field Data in Determining Rock Slope Stability: Case Study North – South Malaysia Highway
This study was conducted to assess the rock mass classification and to evaluate the stability of a slope at the North – South highway (KM 173.7 between the Parit Buntar interchange and interchange at Jawi). A number of field data were collected at the site which include dip direction, dip angle, type of fractures, weathering state and length of fractures, ground water condition and uniaxial compressive strength of rock. The classification of rock mass is based on the Bienawski and Laubscher classification method while stereographic projection is used to assess the rock slope stability. It can be concluded that based on Bienawski the existing rock slope is in a very good condition (1st class) and while Laubscher dictates the rock as in good condition (2nd class). The contour density in the stereographic projection also indicates that the overall rock blocks are in stable condition geometrically. There are three sets of fractures present in the slope which generally dip in the NW – SE, N – S and E – W directions. The type of failure, if it were to occur, would be a wedge type. However, this study does not take into account factors like the shear strength of a joint and the dip of the intersecting line between two joints
Customers’ Intention To Eat At Halal Certified Restaurant Using SEM PLS
Muslim population is continuously mushrooming resulting in the increased demand of Halal foods, products, banking, logistics and others. Thus created an astounding needs for certified Halal restaurants. However, as revealed by JAKIM, the number of available halal certified restaurants is surprisingly small thus indicating that Malaysians customers have limited choice and insensitive to consume at Halal certified restaurants. The purpose of this study is to identify the contributing factors to the customers’ intention to eat at Halal certified restaurants as this is important to restaurant owners when they are comply to Halal certification to fulfil the demand for Halal certified restaurant. It is essential for the local government authority and JAKIM to enforce all restaurant operators to apply for Halal certification for their premises in order to avoid misunderstanding of Halal certified restaurants and pork free restaurant among Muslim customers. 113 data was gathered from government servants and industrial players by adopting the non-probability sampling method technique convenience. The relationship between the research model construct is tested using partial least squares (PLS) technique of Structural Equation Method (SEM) approach. The findings reveal attitude, subjective norm and awareness were significant predicators but perceived behavioural control is not a significant predictor to customers’ intention to consume at Halal certified restaurant. The findings are of great values to the local government in the effort to enforce the compliance of Halal certified restaurant to fulfil global market demand in future
Design and Development of Ultra Violet LED Machine
Photolithography techniques on a PCB are a UV exposure process that used in micro fabrication to pattern parts of a thin film of a substrate. Light is use to transfer a geometric pattern from a photo mask to a light-sensitive chemical (photoresist) on the substrate. In educational institution, most of the UV exposure process used UV Florescent lamp or Metal Halide lamps as an exposure system, both of this equipment is expensive and produce a wide UV radiation that is not suitable for the PCB which will increase the consumption of the electricity. This paper aims, to describe the development of UV exposure device using LED lighting technology with low cost, portable and suitable for education facilities. LED lighting has powerful flexible design features and can be combining in any shapes to produce a highly efficient illumination. LED lights achieve higher application efficiency because the LED is design to focus the light direct to specific location. The LEDs can frequently switched ON/OFF, bright up immediately when powered ON and has great advantages for infrastructure projects such as in exposure system. These UV LED exposures designed by using combination LED circuit with controller board to control time, relay and LCD display. The UV LED circuit use in sized 120 mm x 190 mm with 3mm LED to produce 400mm to 405 mm wavelength for UV exposure system
The Effects of Cold Working on Corrosion Resistance of Implant Materials
This experimental work regarding the effect of cold working on corrosion resistance of stainless steel 316L as application metal materials in biomedical. The research aim to investigate the influence of deformation that occurs through a process of cold working (rolling) on the corrosion resistance as implant material stainless steel 316L. At the beginning, this material will perform cold working (rolling) to make several products with different thickness. Next, the products will perform different method to find the mechanical properties testing (hardness) and corrosion testing (dipping into Hydrochloric acid HCl). Lastly, the characteristics of the product will be achieved by micro structure observation. Optical microscope will be used. The result it showed the effect of thickness reduction during rolling process for mechanical properties (hardness) from specimens test is increasing relevant to hardness of specimens. The value of hardness on the degree of deformation is expressed in the strain that shows the value of hardness of the material will continue to increase along with the amount of strain that occurs. Pore located in the grain becomes larger, so it\u27s getting easier corrosion occurs when acid liquid (HCl) is applied
