Potensi Larvasid Nyamuk daripada Ekstrak Bunga Kantan (Etlingera Elatior) terhadap Culex Quinquefasciatus
Mosquito-borne diseases are one of the major health problems in Malaysia. Mosquito control programmes using synthetic insecticides are proven to be harmful for human and environmental ecosystems. In consideration of this, it is important to develop environmental friendly products to control the mosquito attack. The mean of this study was to determine the effectiveness of larvacidal potential in essential oil from Etligera elatior flower against Culex quinquefasciatus larvae. Essential oil from oven dried torch ginger flowers were extracted using ethanol and concentrated by rotary evaporator. Bioactive compound compositions in essential oil were identified using Gas Chromatography- Mass spectrometry (GCMS). Larvacidal test on mosquito larvae used four different concentrations and calculated based on mortality rate. The GCMS result showed caryophyllene compound acted as a mosquito larvacide was highest namely 99%. Two other bioactive compounds were detected namely 1-Tetradecyl acetate (95%) and 11-Tricosene (86%) also in high percentage that mostly used in pesticide products. In contrast, the presence of 2-undecanone was low percentage namely 52%. Mortality rate showed the most effective of essential oil concentration to kill mosquito larvae was 200 ppm (92.5%) followed by 100ppm (87.5%) after 24 hours. Therefore, torch ginger flower as larvacidal can be used against C. quinquefasciatus larvae and it can be one of the alternatives to other commercial larvacidal if further studied
Tahap Grit dalam Kalangan Guru di Negeri Johor
Teachers\u27 profession these days is a challenging profession because teachers not only need to carry out substantive as educators but saddled with side tasks. Hence, this study is conducted to identify grit levels among teachers in Malaysia to ensure quality effectiveness and retention of work performance for long-term goals. Respondents of the study consisted of 296 teachers from different school categories, national primary schools, national secondary schools and vocational colleges. Overall, the results of the study showed that the mean grit score of the respondents was 4.04 (most gritty). The study on the differences in grit level among teachers based on the teaching field showed that there was no statistically significant difference. The respondents’ mean score of the grit level differences among the teachers based on the level of teaching showed that there were statistically significant differences with p = 0.017. In conclusion, the results of the findings expected to create awareness regarding the importance of grit to educators in order to measure the quality of their work performance and retention
Hubungkait Antara Objektif Kokurikulum Dengan Pemahaman Etika Profesional Pelajar di Kolej Komuniti Paya Besar
Learning about professional ethics is much applied in the co-curriculum subjects at the Paya Besar Community College (KKPB). The purpose of this study is to examine the level of early understanding of students on professional ethics based on variables that have elements that contribute to student understanding such as awareness arising after engaging in any of the co-curriculum subjects offered for the General Studies subject of Paya Besar Community College. The population of the study is the students who are in KKPB for each semester which is undergoing co-curriculum activities at KKPB. The number of samples was 30 people. The number of samples was obtained through a questionnaire as a research instrument for collecting data. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) ver 21.0 to obtain mean value analysis and Pearson Correlation Test. The results of the study showed that the level of early understanding of the professional ethics of students was high (mean = 4.41). The findings of this study are useful in assisting prospective employees especially students as well as those involved in managing the co-curriculum activities ie college management, especially the Lecturer of the General Studies Unit to arrange a more systematic teaching strategy based on co-curricular objectives designed for each field ie sports, club / and uniformed bodies to create effective teaching and subsequently produce potential caliber workers
Peranan Kepimpinan Transformasi Terhadap Pemerkasaan Psikologi dan Kepuasan Kerja
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the direct relationship of transformational leadership that focuses on the idealized influence and intellectual stimulation as a dependent variable in the relationship between the psychological empowerment and job satisfaction. The sample of this study consists of 100 employees working in the Islamic financial sector, Malaysia using the survey method. The hypothesis was tested using path analysis model Smart Partial Least Squares (SmartPLS). The findings show that idealized influences have significant relationships with psychological empowerment, idealized influences have significant relationships with job satisfaction, intellectual stimulation have significant relationships with psychological empowerment and psychological empowerment have significant relationships with job satisfaction. Overall, the findings have confirmed that the interaction of idealized influences and intellectual stimulation in transformational leadership is an important predictor in the relationship between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction
Kawalan Alat Penyaman Udara Menggunakan IoT
Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu reka bentuk sistem kawalan dengan menggunakan sambungan rangkaian internet sebagai medium penghantar isyarat ke perkakasan peranti elektrik iaitu penyaman udara unit pisah dan kipas angin. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk merekabentuk dan membangunkan kawalan alat penyamanan udara menggunakan Iot seterusnya menguji kebolehfungsian alat kawalan tersebut. Disamping itu juga, secara tidak langsung dapat memperbaiki kelemahan sistem kawalan inframerah (infrared). Reka bentuk kajian adalah pembangunan produk dengan menggunakan model ADDIE sebagai asas kepada reka bentuk kajian. Proses pengumpulan maklumat, penganalisian maklumat, fasa merekabentuk, fasa pembangunan, fasa pelaksanaan dan fasa penilaian dilaksanakan bagi menjayakan kajian ini. Kajian ini telah diuji kebolehfungsiannya serta beberapa aspek yang telah ditetapkan oleh tiga orang pakar bidang yang mempunyai kelayakan yang diperakui. Ciri-ciri reka bentuk, pembangunan kajian, dan pengujian kebolehfungsian dalam kajian ini melibatkan analisis teknikal kajian ini mendapat peratusan yang tinggi (100%). Analisis teknikal yang terlibat adalah berkaitan jarak pengawalan alat penyaman udara secara hotspot adalah (±100m ke bawah), wifi (±100m ke atas) dan broadband (±100m ke atas), pengawalan suhu menggunakan telefon pintar secara hotspot (min 16˚c : 22.6˚c, max 30˚c : 27.2˚c pada jarak ±90m), secara wifi (min 16˚c : 23.7˚c, max 30˚c : 26.7˚c pada jarak ±300m), dan secara broadband (min 16˚c : 24.3˚c, max 30˚c : 27.5˚c pada jarak ±300m), dan perubahan pemasa bagi alat penyaman udara dan kipas secara hotspot (min 1minit : berubah pada jarak ±90m, max 5minit : berubah pada jarak ±90m), secara wifi (min 1minit : berubah pada jarak ±300m, max 5minit : berubah pada jarak ±300m), dan secara broadband (min 1minit : berubah pada jarak ±300m, max 5minit : berubah pada jarak ±300m). Selain itu, beberapa cadangan telah dikemukakan bagi mempertingkatkan kualiti kajian ini. Secara keseluruhannya, dapat disimpulkan bahawa pembangunan produk berasaskan IoT ini mampu untuk berfungsi mengikut objektif dalam kajian ini
Motivasi Intrinsik Dan Ektrinsik yang Mempengaruhi Penglibatan Pelajar UKM Untuk Melakukan Aktiviti Fizikal
Physical activities are activities that every individual has to commit to doing every day. But, it also depends on various motives of student involvement. This study is conducted to identify the intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors that influence Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia students’ involvement in physical activities. 400 UKM students involving 200 male and 200 female students were chosen as the main respondents for this study. For the purpose of conducting this study, a questionnaire which was modified from the Exercise Motivations Inventory and Participation Motivation Questionnaire was employed to assess the intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors that affect their involvement in physical activities. Results from this study exposed that the highest min value for extrinsic motivational factor is related to health and fitness (M = 4.37) while for extrinsic motivational factor, the highest is peers and friends (M = 3.97). Findings from this study also revealed that there is a significant difference in their involvement centred on intrinsic motivational factor of health and fitness (t = -5.05, p < 0.05) and the motivational factor related to the physical body (t = -6.51, p < 0.05) based on gender. While on the extrinsic motivational factor aspect, it revealed that only the family factor (t = -6.98, p < 0.05) showed a significant difference based on gender. Next, this study also found that the intrinsic motivational factor related to the physical body (52%) is the leading motivational factor that has left the biggest impact on students’ involvement while for the extrinsic motivational factor aspect, the role of the university (40%) is the leading factor when student involvement is of concern. The findings from this study is hoped to assist the university and UKM’s Sports Centre in planning activities, seminars and facilities that may benefit in attracting students’ interests and also expose them to the importance of healthy living and having a healthy lifestyle
Experimental Investigation the RON 95 and RON 97 on the Performance and Emissions
Nowadays, gasoline engine has most extensive as transportation and passenger for the economical demand. Gasoline fuels combust as clean, economical and abundant can improve the lean operating limits and decrease emission limits. The objective of study is to evaluate the gasoline engine on performance and emission using fuels RON 95 and RON97. An experimental study was carried out on 1800cc 4 cylinders, port injection and coupled with 100 kW Eddy Current dynamometer. The engine was tested at 1000-3000 RPM and 30% engine load. The results showed increase BMEP and cylinder pressure when using RON 97. While the CO2 and HC was decrease when increase RPM and instead for NOx
Lime Mortar Composition of Old Fort in Melaka: A Case Study of Bastion Maurits and Bastion Santiago
Historical masonry buildings in the state of Melaka are among the top attractions for tourist. It has attracted peoples from all over the world to come and visit Melaka to appreciate the beauty and value the architectural aspects of the masonry building. Based on this situation, there is a need to properly restore the buildings in order to make it sustain for a longer period of time. Works has been done from to time to restore and preserve the building. However, the works of restoration was not properly done due to the lack of information on the composition of lime mortar used in the development of masonry building. This study aims to identify the accurate composition of lime mortar in order to suggest the best solution in restoring masonry building in the future. Bastion Maurits and Bastion Santiago was chose as the sample of this study. Acid dissolution and sand grading method used in this study to identify the composition of lime mortar from each area chose. The result shows that the ratio of sand to lime in both Bastion Maurits and Bastion Santiago forts are the same. The analysis shows that the ratio is 1:3. Based on the previous studies, it is proved that the mortar with the ratio of 1:3 has better strength compared to the mortar with the higher ratio of lime to sand. In addition to that, the result from sand grading analysis shows that, lime mortar from both forts consists of the same content of material, which are lime, coarse sand, brick dust and egg broken pieces. This study has best identified the content of lime mortar from each of the forts mentioned. The material used in the development of the forts should be taken into consideration for restoration works of historical masonry building. Apart from that, a study on other forts should be done, as it may come out with different kinds of lime mortar content
Keberkesanan Kursus Pembelajaran Sepanjang Hayat Dengan Pekebun Kecil Risda
Pembelajaran sepanjang hayat (PSH) merupakan usaha kerajaan dalam implementasikan pembelajaran berterusan yang menjurus kepada peningkatan kemahiran di kalangan penduduk Malaysia. Sejajar dengan permintaan, PSH Kolej Komuniti Bera telah menawarkan pelbagai kursus kemahiran kepada komuniti setempat khususnya kepada pekebun kecil anjuran Risda. Kajian ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti keberkesanan program kursus pendek yang telah dijalankan kepada pekebun kecil Risda pada tahun 2017. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah tinjauan yang melibatkan peserta daripada pekebun kecil Risda yang telah mengikuti pelbagai kursus pendek bersama Kolej Komuniti Bera. Reka bentuk kajian adalah berbentuk kuantitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen borang soal selidik di mana item-item instrumen diuji kebolehpercayaan (Cronbach’s Alpha) terlebih dahulu. Data kajian akan dianalisis untuk min, frekuensi, sisihan piawai dan Ujian t menggunakan SPSS. Dapatan kajian ini akan digunakan untuk merangka modul kursus pembelajaran sepanjang hayat yang lebih efektif dan berimpak tinggi untuk komuniti setempat khususnya agensi luar bagi mencapai objektif program pembelajaran sepanjang hayat
Visual Inspection in Dilapidation Study of Heritage Structure Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV): Case Study As-Solihin Mosque, Melaka
Maintenance and preservation of inheritance structures is very important to avoid failure in design and structure. An efficient maintenance scheme requires periodical inspections associated with a reliable condition determination of the structure. Especially the process of data acquisition is a time consuming, labour intensive and technically complex task. The study aims to apply vision-based inspection and monitoring approach for heritage structures based on high quality aerial photos taken by remote controlled Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to identify the type of defect in the outer structures of the heritage mosque\u27s roof. In terms of quality and time, this approach contributes significantly to data acquisition and monitoring strategies and will provide increased efficiency in preserving heritage monuments. UAV equipped with high-quality photo cameras or high-quality video cameras provides opportunities to facilitate and speed up data acquisition and monitoring tasks. The processes involved in the study are planning and preparation before flight, data acquisition using UAV, image processing and data analysis from video to image. As the results from the analysis, a total of 39 locations have been identified and documented by defects such as cracks, plants, moss and fungus, rust, fade paint and others. All defective information obtained through visual inspection of the UAV can assist the Department of Heritage and the management team of the mosque in conservation and maintenance work
