    Quarry Dust: The Potential of By-Product Waste as Sulfate Attack Resistance in Cement Composites

    In this study, the durability of cement composites at 0 wt.%, 12.5 wt.%, and 17.5 wt.% of the addition of quarry dust was investigated against sulfate attack at 1,2,3,4,8,13 and 15 weeks. The specimens of cement composites were immersed in sodium sulfate solution and evaluated for length change and salt deposition. Cement composites with the addition of 12.5 wt.% of quarry dust were found to possess the best sulfate attack resistance. The sodium sulfate solution was found not to affect the original length of the cement composites at all percentages of quarry dust. A visual examination revealed that the cement composites without the addition of quarry dust showed the existence of salt deposition compared to 12.5 wt.% and 17.5 wt.%. The quarry dust consumption presented the cement composites\u27 durability improvement due to sulfate attack. The silica content and filing effect of quarry dust chemically react with the calcium hydroxide released by ordinary Portland cement to form durable cement composites

    Potential of Fly Larva and Anchovy Process Waste Powder as Protein Source in Tilapia Fish Pellet

    Feeding is one of the most crucial aspects of fish culture activities. The rise of pellet prices due to the lack of raw material has led the farmers to shift to alternative protein sources. This research aims to study the potential of fly larva flour and anchovy process waste as a cheap alternative protein source for tilapia farming. Tilapia fishes with average length were divided into four different treatments. T1 is a control treatment (fish pellet) while T2, T3 and T4 contain a mixture of fly larva powder and anchovy process waste powder (45%, 50% and 55% mixture of fly larva flour and anchovy head flour). Fish growth rate, survival rate and water quality were recorded weekly throughout the study period. Data analysis shows that there are no significant differences amongst each treatment. This study indicates that fish supplied with a mixture of fly larva powder and anchovy process waste powder shared the same growth rate as the fish supplied with commercial pellets

    Star/Delta Three Phase System: Educational Trainer

    The 3-Phase Star/Delta connection system is a method used for connection purposes for a 3-phase electrical system. The use of trainers for the 3-phase system is widely used in educational institutions as one of the applicable learning method to meet the requirements of the syllabus that has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of accreditation certification recognition for each program offered in the institution. Comparison study between existing trainers in the market found out few elements that need to be improve to fulfil the objective of syllabus in polytechnic and suitable for use in teaching and learning (TnL) sessions. These Three Phase Star/Delta System Learning Trainer capable to introduces students to the basic methods of Star/Delta connections by combining teaching methods that require higher level thinking. This trainer has been equipped with multimeter and load connection terminals that can be tested by students. This trainer has been built to be flexible to use either by using a 3-phase supply or a 1-phase supply socket. So that students can still practice the 3-phase connection method according to the objective target in the lecturer\u27s TnL session despite the constraints of the 3-phase supply facility. The use of a 3-phase trainer produces results that are different from the existing trainers and this is able to increase the level of understanding of the students which in turn helps the lecturer during the TnL session

    A Correlation Study between Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Commitment with the Turnover Intention among the Ministry of Home Affairs Enforcement and Control Division Personnel

    The study is to examine the correlation between organizational citizenship behaviour and organizational commitment among the Ministry of Home Affairs Enforcement and Control Division personnel in the State of Selangor, and their intention to turnover from the organization. The intention to turnover or leave any organization is seen as a very interesting issue to be explored since not many studies have been done regarding this matter, especially on civil servants. This study was conducted cross-sectionally using quantitative methods. A total of 86 samples were identified and tested through questionnaires that had been distributed. The questionnaire items were adapted from previous research studies with Cronbach\u27s alpha value > 0.6 for its reliability test. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS version 22 research tool. The study found that there is no correlation between organizational citizenship behaviour and turnover intention because it has a coefficient value of r = -0.055, The relationship between these variables is not significant because P=.613 > 0.05. Similarly, there is no correlation between organizational commitment and turnover intention because the value of the coefficient r = -0.017. Therefore, the relationship between these variables is not significant because of the value of p=0.88 > 0.05

    Penang Community College Academic Employee Job Satisfaction and PdPDT Usability Evaluation in Post COVID-19 Pandemic MCO

    During post MCO by the COVID-19 pandemic, interchangeable between face-to-face working and work from home is directed suddenly. Consequently, employees needed job’s re-working to work with online system. Hence, these two issues defining the research design in two dimensions, aiming to examine the parameters that influence job satisfaction, and online system usability for teaching and learning. This research survey focuses on Penang Community College academic employees and measures by Andrew & Whitney Satisfactory Scale and System Usability Scale questionnaire templates. Then, the responded questionnaires are analysed by preliminary analysis, EFA, Regression Analysis, and Post Hoc test. The findings are feeling: ‘about job’, ‘work for the job’, and ‘what available for doing the job’ are significantly affected JS. Besides, co-worker and ‘where is the work’ relation with JS is in a positive direction. Moreover, questions regarding: ‘frequent use of PdPDT’, ‘inconsistency in PdPDT’, and ‘many need to learn before starting using PdPDT’ are the most effective in predicting SUS score

    Students’ Emotion in Utilising Virtual Reality Power System Equipment Competencies Training Using AEQ

    The emotional aspect plays an important role in ensuring the effectiveness of learning. It depends on the students\u27 learning experience of the instructional materials produced to deliver the learning content. Learning using slides and videos is no longer relevant nowadays, especially when dealing with students who are from Z Generation. The inappropriate instructional materials have the potential to negatively impact student learning and enhance the students\u27 emotions. In this study, students’ emotions in utilizing Virtual Reality Power System Equipment Competencies training were identified using the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire (AEQ). The AEQ was distributed to 30 students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah after they went through a training-based learning session. It contains positive items such as enjoyment, hope, and pride; and negative items such as anger, anxiety, shame, hopelessness, and boredom. IBM SPPS Statistics Version 26 software was used to analyze the collected data. The results found that students felt enjoy, confident, and proud of themselves during the training sessions using Virtual Reality (VR). They also agreed that this training session did not make them feel angry, worried, embarrassed, resigned, and bored. The positive emotions can help students increase their desire to learn as well as engage in VR-style training sessions. Details for negative emotions still need to be clarified especially from the aspect of anxiety when handling learning materials. Finally, future research should focus on the relationship between emotions and student achievement of virtual reality-assisted learning

    The Relationship Of Prayers Knowledge And Prayers Encouragement Factors Towards Prayers Practice: A Preliminary Survey

    This study is a preliminary survey conducted to identify the relationship between prayerknowledge and prayer encouragement factors towards prayer practice among Perak StateCommunity College students. This quantitative study was conducted on randomly selected302 Perak State Community College students, but only 152 respondents answered. Thedesign of this study is a quantitative study that uses a questionnaire as a researchinstrument. Data analysis uses SPSS 26.0 software involving descriptive analysis(percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential analysis (Pearson Correlation). Thestudy\u27s findings show that students\u27 prayer knowledge is high. However, from the point ofview of prayer practice, it is at a medium level. Pearson correlation analysis shows a positiverelationship between prayer knowledge and prayer encouragement factors of studentstowards students\u27 prayer practice. The implications of the study suggest that the Departmentof Polytechnic Education and Community College, in general, and Islamic Studies lecturers,in particular, can improve the quality of teaching and learning in Islamic Studies to increaseprayer knowledge, prayer encouragement factors and prayer practice among students

    Design And Development Of Automatic Whiteboard Eraser For Effective Cleaning Mechanism using Internet Of Things (IOT)

    Most schools and educational institutions in Malaysia implement teaching and learning delivery using whiteboards during class or lecture time. Usually, the instructor must erase the writing on the whiteboard manually using an eraser to write something new. This causes them to need more time and energy to erase the whiteboard. Instructors who have a short medium height face the difficulty of erasing the writing written at the top of the whiteboard. This will weaken the body and affect health if prolonged. In addition, the problem of losing the eraser is also common. This will also cause the instructor to have to waste time finding an eraser or other tool to erase the whiteboard. This whiteboard eraser is designed in conjunction with the eraser to make it easier for instructors to erase the whiteboard by controlling the eraser using a smartphone that has the Blynk application. The findings from the production of this project show that the design and development of Automatic Whiteboard Eraser For Effective Cleaning Mechanism using Internet Of Things (IOT) can reduce the burden of users to erase the whiteboard and save more time and energy of instructors compared to the manual method used previously

    Analysing the Validity of Lower Secondary School Students’ Personality Towards Design and Technology

    This research aims to explore the tendencies of students pertaining to learning Design and Technology (RBT). RBT is a new subject introduced by the Ministry of Education Malaysia to all schools nationwide. Following that, technical and vocational teachers in schools are to teach this subject to students replacing the subject that was taught beforehand: Integrated Living Skills. The research per se was conducted to analyze the instruments distributed examining to what extent it was regarding the tendencies of lower secondary school students in Malaysia who are learning RBT. The problem arises when students in school have to choose whether to study RBT or Basic Computer Science. In order to explore the interest of students using quantitative research, a survey instrument consisting of twenty four items was formulated by referring to previous researches. The survey was then administered to Form 1 students studying in a secondary school in Malaysia. In order to attain the best instrument, the Racsh model analysis was used for the purpose of refinement. The findings show that the items in the construct are positively skewed and it does not contradict with the constructed items to be measured. It is also shows that, the misfit order featuring two items having the biggest outfit Mean-Square (MNSQ) and one item of value resulting from the smallest outfit MNSQ. The research findings will help teachers and students to assess the students’ interest whether to learn RBT or Basic Computer Science

    Industry Perception on the Implementation of Work-Based Learning (WBL) in Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan

    Work-Based Learning (WBL) is a type of learning that integrates theoretical and practical learning in the context of real-life situations. In September 2013, Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan became one of Malaysia\u27s first public higher learning institutions to use the Work-Based Learning technique in both teaching and learning in the tourism and hospitality management discipline at the undergraduate level. The objective of this study is to evaluate the feedback and perception of industry on the implementation of WBL. This study uses a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection was based on the students’ performance appraisal form, semi-structured interviews during lecturer visits and meetings between polytechnic management and the companies involved. The main informants are companies who have gone through the WBL procedure. The data was analysed by employing a matrix of categories and categorising the evidence. There are five indicators for this study, which are the competencies of students, student discipline, competencies of industrial supervisors, communication between institution and industry, and the effectiveness of the WBL as a teaching and learning approach. According to the findings, the Work-based Learning technique is incredibly efficient in supporting students in enhancing their skills and knowledge while also raising their chances of finding work. However, the study identifies a number of concerns and obstacles that must be addressed, including information coordination, continuous cooperation, and the lack of teaching and learning competency among industrial supervisors. The study shows that supervisors should be academically prepared and have a thorough awareness of their role in implementing WBL. Besides, in future, it will be important for PIS to conduct a study to evaluate the feedback from industry at the end of the WBL session. This is to enable corrective action to be taken as soon as possible for improvement for the next WBL session
