    Get PDF
Play and learning: since always, two concepts strongly interwoven with each other, given the inexhaustible source of the teaching-learning dialectic, represented by the game. We are led to think that play is a simple pastime, a moment of fun that is akin to itself; but we have dismissed it in terms of its value and meaning: despite different pedagogical contributions think otherwise. Describing what play is, and play as a source of learning, is an arduous task. Perhaps, as much as it would be to describe what love, freedom, or the universe is.Juego y aprendizaje: desde siempre, dos conceptos fuertemente entretejidos entre sí, vista la fuente inagotable de la dialéctica enseñanza-aprendizaje, representada por el juego.

Intercultural education, a reflection from the playful

    No full text
The present text is directed towards a proposal of reflection on the value of the playful for intercultural education. The theme has not been sufficiently deepened theoretically, which is why we are entering into an analysis that requires processes, greater continuity, and integrity. Neither is it a matter of sharing a text with the connotations of an indexed article, which generally require much training and previous practice in order to assimilate and understand them. The aim is to motivate the reader to engage in processes of reflection for more detailed and profound explorations of the subject, without ruling out the fact that the simplicity of a text can also lead to rich processes of reflection. Therefore, we do not start with extensive definitions or theoretical frameworks, but with brief theories, without falling into superficiality. The journal aims at a very responsible diffusion of contents and proposals, but in a different tone than what is usual in the dominant tradition of science. Therefore, no hypotheses are put forward to be tested, nor bold questions to be answered; simply reflections are shared in order to motivate transformations in the forms and contents of dominant education

The word gamification is in vogue: it is a trend-setter today. In general, in the field of education, the most accepted definition says something like this: "Gamification is using mechanics, aesthetics and playful thinking to capture attention, motivate action, promote learning and improve problem solving" (Kapp, 2012, p.9). There are variants that modify some nuances, but the essential is reflected in this formula. Perhaps it is not so decisive for the moment to launch a thorough search for a more precise definition, or to investigate the different factors that make up the one just proposed. At the end of this article, something will be said about that. But to begin with, it seems to take things differently and distinguish degrees or intensities in the use that can be made in the classroom of the playful elements and resources

Five years ago the Guayamuri School, a private financing institution on Margarita Island, Venezuela, decided to start a project called Bachillerato web 2.0, which aimed to replace the sources of access to information and the administration of the programs of the different subjects of High Education, with a digital platform. Why computers in the school? Since 1990, information and computer technologies have appeared in a veiled form in the classroom. First in the most industrialized countries and then in Latin America, institutions and governments decided to invest in computer programs in schools as a measure to adapt to the new times. In 1987, the then presidential candidate of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias, made a campaign promise that he called "a computer for every school" when he won the presidency. It became a national program that was expanded into Costa Rica's public schools and then permeated other countries such as Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela. The idea was that technology would be incorporated into education, the clash with the traditional school was hard and the experiences had their ups and downs, because the educational phenomenon is complex and modifying structures in an institution as traditional as the school was not easy. This massive program made it possible to understand that computers would not change anything if the different actors in education were not involved.

The minimum citizen's income and the problems of economic inequality and poverty

Most countries in Latin America and the world have the resources necessary for their citizens to enjoy economic and social well-being. However, it is well known that economic inequality and extreme poverty exist in these countries. Because of this, their respective governments are forced to seek public policy strategies to combat these problems. In this way, they create the proper scenario for the development of the Minimum Citizen Income proposal. Although it has been called by different names, such as Basic Income and Citizen's Income, in the present work it will be called Citizen's Minimum Income. In this essay, we will analyze the Minimum Citizens' Income from the perspective of the World Social Forum, the Risk Society and the Knowledge Society. We will start by defining: what is Citizen Minimum Income, what is economic inequality and what is extreme poverty, based on the opinion of some researchers. Then, the foundations of some scientists who support this proposal will be studied, as well as the arguments of others who do not agree with it. Finally, we will examine the situation in Ecuador and the change in public policy that has taken place in recent years to combat these problems. The purpose of this text is to analyze whether the Minimum Citizen Income project is viable or not. To this end, the position assumed by the author with respect to this proposal and the bases on which it is based will be indicated.

These changes in the use of technology go beyond the use of machines and new ways of connecting and learning, of searching for information and of publishing one's own information. Competition in a global world, understood as the set of resources that are put in place to solve problems and propose alternatives, requires the ability to know how to select the correct information from an abundance of literature in order to optimize the teaching and learning process at all levels. The importance of technology in the educational field has surpassed the barrier of what is credible. It is probable that, for the near future, computer-led classes are being lived in the present. Thus, the education model requires an attitudinal change in people, together with a modification of policies in institutions, especially in education institutions that are inclusive for all, allowing for the development of the dimensions of education expressed in the report presented by Jacques Delors to UNESCO entitled "Learning: The Treasure Within". These pillars are: Learning to Be, Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Live Together and Entrepreneurship. There is always the question of whether four or five is too early for children to learn to read. Psychopedagogy recommends not to do so and, rather, to cultivate other skills that prepare them for school life, where learning to read and write has a preferential place. Parents and teachers always ask themselves: is it good for children to learn to read so early? On the other hand, there are the old practices naturalized over many years (and still present today) that hurried the beginning of learning processes of reading, writing and mathematics. We refer to activities that lead children to repeat the alphabet, vowels, to write them down without any awareness of what they are reciting and their real usefulness. The repeated low results in the reading ability of significant percentages of children in 7th grade of EGB indicate that this is not the right way to go. Many are the paths that are chosen to reach a destination: strategies, synchronies, methods, rhythms, are chained gradually in a tangible process, discreet, silent but finally moving. Diverse scenarios in which personalities, people, little people act, guided perhaps by a friendly hand that in a second, minute, hour, day, months, even years, will be in charge of leaving legacies, traces and letters engraved in the heart. TRASCENDER? It means going beyond, beyond a certain limit, then, no more. Scars that pierce the soul, no more. Forget those letters that enter with blood, they seem myths, chronicles that speak in your memory. They are simply stories that should die in oblivion and do so slowly, rumbling with loud echoes in those windows and walls that will be responsible for expanding them. Remove them from your life. That's how it was, mechanically, that we learned to read: by memorizing letter by letter, sometimes with fire, play and sometimes with anger. Phrases like My mom loves me. I love my mom. I love me. She loves me. They were recorded slowly, but do they really convey the essence of what they read, do they transmit something, or is it just another code? Unconscious recordings, litanies, current or outdated paradigms. What kind of reading was it? Did they really enjoy it? Many are the sounds that reach their ears since they begin to know the world, synchronizing vital elements, such as thoughts, experiences, actions, their being. They are human beings endowed with abilities, strengths and also weaknesses, with the possibility of enhancing their next development, a goal, always. Yo amo a mi mamá. Yo me amo. Ella me ama.
