Science fiction – złudzenie czy proroctwo przyszłości?
No full textScience fiction is considered to be something worse, trivial entertainment for the unsophisticated. Is that right? The world around us is filled with numerous technical gadgets; if we take a closer look at them and compare them to the inventions present in science fiction we will discover frequently surprising futurological nature of this branch of literature. Science fiction is inspirational for scientists as it shows them potential developmental paths of the existing technologies, but it also predicts the birth of utterly new sciences. The questions posed by science fiction authors also concern the future society and the condition of the human being. This science fiction becomes a prophecy of tomorrow, showing us what future threats we may encounter as a result of improper application of the technologies of today.Science fiction is considered to be something worse, trivial entertainment for the unsophisticated. Get PDFThe attitude of public opinion in Poland towards the activity of the Polish Military Contingent (PMC) in Afghanistan and Iraq was initially (in 2001-2002) quite enthusiastic. This was the consequence of solidarity with the United States after the terrorist attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon. However, even then the majority of respondents were skeptical about the Polish Army’s involvement in the ‘war on terror’. As time passed by a majority of Polish society no longer believed that Poland would obtain any political or financial benefits. The conviction that the losses had prevailed over the benefits emerged at the end of 2003 and it remained until the PMC deployment in Iraq ended. Czarnogóra i Bośnia-Hercegowina (problemy graniczne i etniczne)
Get PDFThe borderline between Montenegro and Bosnia-Heregovina is an outcome of numerous factors: firstly – religion, secondly – ethnic composition, thirdly – politics, and finally – geographical conditions. The stronger influence of the Orthodox Church in Montenegro and Serbia resulted in the survival and relative cohesion of the respective populations of both countries. This has not occurred in Bosnia-Herzgovina. This state is a product of political agreements on the internal and international levels. This may be exemplified by the so-called Serbian Republic that me the eastern frontier of the country. Thus the Serbian Republic constitutes the border with Montenegro. Get PDFThe law on the Polish Charter is an element of a certain process, noticeable in Central and Eastern Europe, the purpose of which is to reinforce and retain contacts of respective states with immigrants, that is the members of the nation that predominates in each state who live abroad. The regulations which the Polish side has introduced in order to simplify border crossing for individuals of Polish origin by introducing special visas and the Polish Charter have stirred a profound political and social discussion in Belarus. Belarussian society does not have its own national identity, and is not sufficiently developed. The western part of Belarus is a multicultural region. This allows the dwellers of this region to declare themselves to be of practically any nationality as need arises. It may be concluded then that the Polish Charters, issued by Polish diplomatic posts, do not reflect the number of the actual members of the Polish minority. No full textRusso-Belarusian integration has assumed the form of a Union State by virtue of an agreement signed on December 8, 1999. The agreement regulated mutual relations between the states and provided concrete details of a common state, which could in the future transform into a state that would be a model illustration of the notion. The paper analyzes the stage of statehood the union state is currently at and how advanced the integration process has become.Russo-Belarusian integration has assumed the form of a Union State by virtue of an agreement signed on December 8, 1999. Get PDFThe opinions presented in the paper and the problems raised in the considerations on political ethics confirm that there is no holistic, systematic approach to political ethics as a significant realm of research, or even a separate subdiscipline within political science. Although the issues discussed in the paper are significant and interesting, they do not create a cohesive and holistic research proposal. These are significant opinions in the discussion on the problem of political ethics, yet they are limited to the analysis of detailed issues. Therefore, it is necessary to identify an appropriate method to study political ethics from the point of view of political science.The opinions presented in the paper and the problems raised in the considerations on political ethics confirm that there is no holistic, systematic approach to political ethics as a significant realm of research, or even a separate subdiscipline within political science. Although the issues discussed in the paper are significant and interesting, they do not create a cohesive and holistic research proposal. These are significant opinions in the discussion on the problem of political ethics, yet they are limited to the analysis of detailed issues. It was believed to be the most significant factor of the destabilization in the region. A majority of analysts who deal with this territory agree that the Afghan war has been crucial to the revival of Islam. The states of Central Asia have recently radically changed their standpoint as a result of Islamic radicalism and the situation in Afghanistan. After September 11, 2001 the Americans have intensified their activity in this region as they have created a logistical backup for their war against the Taliban there.For a decade all the leaders of Central Asia have agreed that the situation in Afghanistan poses a threat.
