In silico comparative transcriptome analysis of Papaver somniferum cultivars
Papaver somniferum is a medicinal plant of the Papaveraceae family that has traditionally been used for diet or its therapeutic value for thousands of years. Mainly, morphine and noscapine alkaloids exhibit anti-analgesic and anti-cancer effects. However, gene expression patterns and regulatory elements, such as transcription factors between different tissues, still need to be detected. In this study, comparative in silico transcriptome analyses were conducted to examine the tissue-specificity of the benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs) biosynthetic genes and transcription factors (TFs) between morphine and noscapine cultivars. Analysis showed that BIA biosynthetic genes are expressed in a different pattern between two varieties. Results showed that some members of plant-specific secondary metabolites related to TF families, such as MYB, MADS-box, bHLH, NAC, and WRKY, are differentially expressed between tissues and varieties.Papaver somniferum is a medicinal plant of the Papaveraceae family that has traditionally been used for diet or its therapeutic value for thousands of years. Application of Poultry Gelatin to Enhance the Physicochemical, Mechanical, and Rheological Properties of Fish Gelatin as Alternative Mammalian Gelatin Films for Food Packaging
This study aimed to describe the properties of cold water fish gelatin (FG) blended with poultry gelatin (PG) for a production of a sachet containing olive oil. To find a desirable film, the different ratio of FG-PG-based films were characterized in terms of mechanical properties. As the proportion of PG in PG-FG-based increased, the tensile strength and Young's modulus were increased, and the elongation at break and heat seal strength of the films were decreased. The 50-50 film had favorable characteristics to use as a sachet. The amount of acid index and peroxide of the oil stored in the sachets after 14 days showed that there is a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the films. The barrier properties of the films including the water vapor permeability and oxygen permeability of films were increased from 1.21 to 4.95 x 10(-11) g m(-1) Pa-1 s(-1) and 48 to 97 cm(3) m mu/m(2) d kPa, respectively. Dark, red, yellow, and opaque films were realized with increasing PG. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra approved a wide peak of approximately 2500 cm(-1). The rheological analysis indicated that, by adding PG, viscosity, elastic modulus (G ') and loss modulus (G '') were increased significantly (p < 0.05) about 9.5, 9.32 and 18 times, respectively. Therefore, an easy modification of FG with PG will make it suitable for oil sachet packaging applications for the food industry.Universiti Malaysia SabahThis study was supported by the Universiti Malaysia Sabah for payment of APC
Separation of arteries and veins in retinal fundus images with a new CNN architecture
Retinal blood vessels are directly or indirectly associated with many diseases. The retinal blood vessels consist of artery and vein vessels. With the automatic correct identification of these vessels, many diseases can be prevented. In this paper, a method is proposed to separate between arteries and veins on retinal blood vessel images. In the proposed method, firstly, the image preprocessing step is applied. Then, image patches are obtained from pre-processed retinal fundus images. These patches are prepared as input to the deep learning network architecture. The proposed deep learning network architecture is presented as a new CNN architecture. This architecture decides whether the blood vessel pixels in the fundus image are arteries or veins. The proposed method was evaluated on publicly available given DRIVE, INSPIRE datasets, and the recently created LES-AV dataset. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by using the most commonly used sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy performance measures. The accuracy measure for all vessel pixels is 0.9110 for DRIVE, 0.9654 for INSPIRE, and 0.9531 for LES-AV dataset. The proposed method is compared with other state-of-the-art artery/vein separation methods. The experimental results of the proposed method are promising. This method is suitable for automatic artery/vein separation
A Novel Energy Consumption Prediction Model of Electric Buses Using Real-Time Big Data From Route, Environment, and Vehicle Parameters
Electric vehicles (EVs) have positive impacts on reducing oil dependence and exhaust emissions. However, the range problem of EVs is a factor that raises concerns for individual users and bus operators. For this reason, studies on increasing the range of the electric buses in public transportation is extremely important to ensure optimum operation. In this study, a novel energy consumption model, MTECM (Malatya Trolleybus Energy Consumption Model), is developed using the multi-parameter linear regression method. The real-time big data was collected on the field of Trolleybus vehicles, which have been operated for 8 years in Malatya / Turkiye. Firstly, by calculating the correlation of the parameters affecting this model, the parameters that are suitable for the purpose of our study are determined and regression analysis is performed on the original Trolleybus dataset. A total of 75.497.472 data are analyzed for this model. The RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of MTECM is calculated as 0.29996. The trained model is applied to the 10 busiest routes in Malatya in terms of passenger density. The RMSE value on these routes is calculated between 0.30299 and 0.31421. Based on the results, with lower error rates, the proposed novel model is more efficient than other studies in the literature. In addition, energy consumption can be calculated for any route planned to establish an electric bus operation with MTECM. Therefore, according to the consumption obtained, the correct determination and selection of parameters that significantly affect the investment cost such as route, vehicle length, engine power, and battery capacity can be made.Research Fund of Inonu University [FDK-2023-3215]This work was supported by the Research Fund of Inonu University under Project FDK-2023-321

Evaluation of Turkish emergency medicine physicians' knowledge on emergency management of tooth avulsion
Purpose Tooth avulsion is a type of trauma that requires emergency intervention, and a significant number of patients apply to the emergency. The aim of this study is to evaluate the level of knowledge and the awareness about tooth avulsion among emergency medicine physicians throughout Turkiye. Materials and Methods The study was conducted with 545 physicians, working in emergency departments. An online questionnaire about tooth avulsion was applied to the participants. The questionnaire consisted of 3-section which evaluated personal information, the level of knowledge of avulsion cases in primary and permanent dentition, and the level of training on this subject. Results Of the physicians, 61.3% had not previously received education on dentoalveolar traumas, 58.7% would replant an avulsed permanent tooth, 28.3% would prefer replantation to be performed immediately, and 28% would prefer milk as the ideal storage medium. The mean +/- SD and median(min-max) values of the correct answer scores on a scale of 0 to 35 were 16.42 +/- 7.08 and 17(0-32), respectively. 45.6% of the physicians' level of knowledge was below the median score. Conclusion The level of knowledge about tooth avulsion among Turkish emergency medicine physicians is not sufficient and there is a need to improve the knowledge level of physicians with comprehensive educational programs. This study indicates that the training of the physicians about the subject will reflect positively on the treatment of dental trauma patients
A new numerical approach to Gardner Kawahara equation in magneto-acoustic waves in plasma physics
The basic idea of this article is to investigate the numerical solutions of Gardner Kawahara equation, a particular case of extended Korteweg-de Vries equation, by means of finite element method. For this purpose, a collocation finite element method based on trigono-metric quintic B-spline basis functions is presented. The standard finite difference method is used to discretize time derivative and Crank-Nicolson approach is used to obtain more accurate numerical results. Then, von Neumann stability analysis is performed for the numerical scheme obtained using collocation finite element method. Several numerical examples are presented and discussed to exhibit the feasibility and capability of the finite element method and trigonometric B-spline basis functions. More specifically, the error norms L-2 and L-infinity are reported for numerous time and space discretization values in tables. Graphical representations of the solutions describing motion of wave are presented
Fluorinated benzimidazolium salts: Synthesis, characterization, molecular docking studies and inhibitory properties against some metabolic enzymes
Here, a number of symmetric and unsymmetric N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors based on benzimidazol-2-ylidene are synthesized. The N-benzyl substituent in these compounds has an electron-withdrawing group (F) at the para position. The structure of these compounds was characterized using elemental analysis and various spectroscopic methods (FTIR and NMR). The molecular and crystal structures of compound 1f and compound 1h were unambiguously elucidated through single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. According to the X-ray studies, compound 1f exhibits the formation of a U-shaped molecule whereas compound 1h has a Z-shape formation. In addition, the enzyme inhibition activities of these compounds were investigated against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and carbonic anhydrases (hCAs). They showed a highly potent inhibition effect on AChE and hCAs (Ki values are in the range of 14.84 +/- 1.91 to 174.80 +/- 23.60 nM for AChE, 22.41 +/- 1.93 to 188.67 +/- 27.05 nM for hCA I and 35.29 +/- 7.21 to 136.55 +/- 17.61 nM for hCA II). These results may contribute to the design and development of new drug candidates, particularly for treatment of some widespread disorders displayed in the world including Alzheimer's disease and glaucoma.Dokuz Eylul University; Inonu University Research Fund [2010. An Estimation Proposal for Engineering Properties of Modified Concrete by using Standalone and Hybrid GRELM
The presented study pertains to an attempt to propose a novel prediction model to predict the flexural and compressive strengths of concrete modulated using steel fiber (SFb) and silica fume (SF). A completed experimental investigation is adopted for the current study, and a research plan is employed. Three different superplasticizers amount (SP), different SF replacement ratios, and a constant amount of SFb were used by the weight of cement to meet the C25 target strength. A sum of 16 distinct mixtures designed by changing SP and SF ratios were developed. Furthermore, SFb was added at a fixed rate of 65 kg/m(3) to all planned concrete mixes. In addition, SFb was used to create a 16-mix design. Finally, a total of 32 distinct mix designs were created. Produced, hardened specimens were exposed to two different curing conditions. This research uses the mechanical characteristics of concrete treated with SF, SP, and SFb to estimate by conducting standalone and hybridized generalized extreme learning machine (GRELM) algorithms based on available experimental data in terms of the metaheuristic aspects of this work. With continuous input data, four separate data sets were constructed. Compressive strength and flexural strength were estimated separately. With the aid of the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms, binary and ternary hybrid approaches were developed and tested on the data. Four distinct estimation models were suggested. Two quality metrics were used to evaluate the estimation performance: Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and correlation of determination (R-2). The estimation results showed that the hybridized GRELM-PSO-GWO estimation model that was built for prediction was relatively successful in all sets.Scientific Research Projects Committee of Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey [07/2002-39]The financial support for the experimental part of this study was provided by Scientific Research Projects Committee of Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey (Project no: 07/2002-39).
