Get PDFThe article analyses phonetic and graphic variations of majority of English borrowings in Russian youth slang, caused by the coexistence of two different methods of recording English borrowings with the letters of Russian alphabet. The findings of the analysis prove that the dominant way of transferring English borrowings into Russian slang corresponds with the slang’s tendency to show the russified version of English pronunciation in a written form

The interpretation of the artistic world of the film involved the comparative analysis of individual frames. Using this method revealed additional semantic fields and led to defining nostalgia as the possibility of uniting with God and the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven

Get PDFThe aim of the article is to present the names of the valuables in testaments of the Russian great and appanage princes of the 14–16 c. Special attention has been paid to tableware terminology. Lexicographical and etymological data as well as the semantic classification of the tableware names are provided. Dishes and eating utensils used by the Rurik dynasty members during feasts were made of gold or silver and were extremely decorative. According to Thorstein Veblen, conspicuous consumption and wasteful expenditure were signs of person’s high social position. The author draws our attention to the fact that vicarious consumption on the house by invited guests was possible too. Therefore, the social meaning of these valuables is presented in this article

The author specifies strategies and tactics of the actualized speech style which are expressed through modelling the speech genre of the praise, speech pattern of the coquette, tactics of the Ego and Alter Ego dialogue, types of verbal play etc. Besides, the semantic structure of the lexeme bitch is outlined to prove that its polysemy reflects enantiosemy and represents intraverbal evaluative antonymy and different stylistic signs resulting from different male and female perception of the world and different types of gender lingual consciousness
