In March 2022, archaeological trial trenching was carried out at the Pod jarugom site in Podgrađe. The excavation was conducted with the aim of determining the stratigraphic and cultural relationships at the site, which was discovered in 1976 at the foot of Perušićka kosa by Š. Batović. A cultural deposit dating to the Middle Neolithic, that is the Danilo culture, was found in the excavated area

Godine 2006. uz jugozapadni kraj linearne konstrukcije Neven Lete otkrio je ostatke broda ispunjenog velikim kamenjem i namjerno potopljenog s ciljem učvršćenja operativne obale. In 2006, along the southwestern end of the linear structure, Neven Lete discovered the remains of a ship filled with large stones, and scuttled to strengthen the operational quay. During research in 2020, Neven Lete and Vedran Dorušić discovered the remains of two more ships. Paper presents preliminary results of archaeological research conducted on third ship. Ten frames of the ship can be noticed on the northern side, while six can be discerned on the southern side, the first three of which are probably parts of the northern frames. Simultaneously with the excavation in the area of ship Trstenik 3, the structure of the operational quay in the north direction continued to be monitored

The research of the shipwreck near the Gnalić islet began at the end of the 1960s. After several rescue excavation campaigns the excavation was continued in a systematic form in 2012, under the auspices of the Department of Archeology of the University of Zadar. Access to the main frame, located in the middle of the ship, was cleared in 2021. This year was also marked by continuation of the works on the surface under which the futtocks belonging to the main frame are located, in order to determine the basic shape of the ship. At the end of the research, a lead pilgrim medal with an inscription on both sides was discovered in one of the squares in the central part of the ship (Fig. 5). The inscription seemed completely illegible at the time of the discovery, but preliminary cleaning and conservation enabled its further analysis, which is still ongoing. Although the excavation progressed relatively slowly due to the large amount of ship ballast, this year the central part of the ship was prepared for detailed cleaning in the next research campaign.&nbsp

    Retorika gomilama

Gustave Le Bon’s eminent work The Crowd is considered as one of the fundamental works in mass psychology. Concurrently, the importance of this work and the impact it had on communication practices has been recently recognized by some of the scholars. While The Crowd primarily places focus on meticulous description of origin and psychological condition of the crowd, this paper suggests that, among others, Le Bon uses psychological discourse to define rhetorical precept that can be used as an agency for eliciting such condition. It is the purpose of this paper to extract and present the guidelines suggested by Le Bon in his work for mass oratory and corroborate it with apposite rhetorical theory in order to lend credibility to this thesis. Through broader treatment of rhetorical modes of pathos (state and language that induces it), orator, oration, and kairos (the right moment), with other hitherto rhetorical and linguistic insights, Le Bon constitutes activation means for evoking the psychological phenomena of the crowd. This paper represents Le Bon’s explicit and implicit rhetorical instructions in The Crowd by constructing the rhetorical model and indicating that his scholarly contribution was rhetorical as was psychological, suggesting consideration of his inclusion in the history of rhetoric and his contribution to the development of contemporary communication practices. This paper represents an interdisciplinary rhetorical model that engages the field of interest of various scientific disciplines, such as linguistics, rhetoric, communicology, public relations, and their subbranches.

O Franu Kurelcu i Slovacima: dva pisma Alexandru Boleslavínu Vrchovskom

Enclosed are two letters that Fran Kurelac sent from Pest to Bratislava in 1836 and 1837 to his peer, Slovak revivalist Alexander Boleslavín Vrchovský. Numerous studies have been written about the life and work of philologist and writer Fran Kurelac (1811 – 1874), one of the pioneers of the Croatian national revival. In view of the fact that he only published his first noteworthy text in a Croatian periodical in April 1848, when he was already 37 years old, few of Kurelac’s biographers had the ambition to paint as complete and well-rounded a picture of him as possible. The main subject of the interpretation of these letters is Fran Kurelac’s relationship to the Slovak cultural and political situation at the time. He strongly advocated for the unity of linguistically and religiously divided Slovak intellectuals. The linguistic situation among the Slovaks at the time when these two letters were written was characterised by the coexistence of Slovak, Czech, and other languages, which was reflected above all in the lexical fund. Considering the fact that the Czech language was not yet fully standardised and there were different tendencies in its standardisation, we also find at least three variants in its use among the Slovaks. Kurelac’s letters are written in a special, interesting, and clearly bohemianised variant of the Slovak language, influenced by the language of Ján Kollár’s literary works.U prilogu su priopćena dva pisma koja je Fran Kurelac 1836. i 1837. iz Pešte u Bratislavu poslao svom vršnjaku, slovačkom preporoditelju Alexandru Boleslavínu Vrchovskom. O životu i radu filologa i književnika Frana Kurelca (1811.

Anti.Archaeological excavations continued at the Crikvina site in the Jezera region (northern Velebit) in September 2022. This is a continuation of archaeological trial excavations started in 2019 inside the dry stone wall building, which is known in oral tradition as the shepherd\u27s church dedicated to St Anthony

Modrave – looking for traces of the past in a dry-stone wall maze

No nije uvijek bilo tako. An unusual segment of the Adriatic coast extends between Zadar and Šibenik. On one side is the Adriatic Sea, and on the other is Lake Vrana, the largest lake in Croatia, with a low isthmus in between. An aerial view of this area shows two different parts - in the northwest is a network of cultivated and wooded plots of different sizes, scrub, settlements and roads, in the southeast is a mosaic of small plots covered with vegetation. Few of them are cultivated, there is a lot of scrub, some buildings and a series of lines, rarely roads, often dry stone walls. The toponym Modrave refers exactly to that mosaic. The absence of settlements and straight road are a sign to today\u27s travelers to speed up with the foot on the gas, without even having time to think about what the Mediterranean scrub around them is hiding. But it was not always like that. The mosaic of dry stone walls and overgrown olive groves has been abandoned by humans, yet it is full of traces of their activity from different times
