This study explores the personality profiles of effective school principals in junior high schools in South Sulawesi based on teachers’ perspectives. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through teacher evaluations to identify key personality dimensions such as extraversion, agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness. The findings reveal that agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness are the most dominant traits associated with effective principals. Principals who are open to new ideas, emotionally balanced, and empathetic toward teachers are perceived to create positive school climates and enhance teacher motivation. These results suggest that personality characteristics significantly influence leadership effectiveness and school performance. The study recommends that personality assessment be integrated into principal recruitment and professional development to improve leadership quality and educational outcomes in Indonesia
The Efficiency and Resilience Dilemma : Economic Analysis of the Downstream Fossil Energy Industry Amidst the National Energy Transition
Indonesia's dependence on fossil fuels remains strong despite national policy prioritizing the transition to net zero emissions by 2060 as a strategic goal. The downstream fossil fuel sector, particularly petroleum fuel processing and distribution, plays a crucial role in maintaining energy security and national economic stability. However, the dominance of state-owned enterprises, limited refinery capacity, and high subsidy policies create a dilemma between economic efficiency and energy security needs. This study aims to analyze the performance and economic structure of the downstream fossil energy industry in Indonesia using an industrial economics approach to understand the relationship between market structure, business behavior, and industry performance in the context of the national energy transition.
The research method used is a qualitative - descriptive approach through literature studies, secondary data analysis from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Statistics Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and reports from international institutions such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the UNFCCC. The analysis is based on the Structure Conduct Performance (SCP) framework to identify the influence of market structure on the efficiency and competitiveness of the downstream fossil fuel sector. The data analyzed includes market share, subsidy levels, contribution to GDP, and indicators of economic efficiency and national carbon emissions.
The analysis shows that the market structure of Indonesia's downstream fossil fuel sector remains oligopolistic, with strong dominance by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) leading to low levels of competition and innovation. Large energy subsidies cause price distortions and significant fiscal burdens, while investments in new refinery projects have yet to show optimal results. These conditions have resulted in economic inefficiency and dependence on fuel imports, which in turn weakens national energy security. This study concludes that structural reforms, increased market efficiency, and the gradual integration of fossil fuels and new and renewable energy are important steps toward achieving a balance between economic efficiency and energy security during the transition to a low carbon economy
Study of Contour and Slope of Mohupomba Island Region Using QGIS Application for Sustainable Agricultural Development
Understanding the important characteristics of the topography of Mohupomba Island through contour and slope analysis using the QGIS application is the focus of this study. This study aims to identify variations in elevation and slope to support sustainable land use planning, particularly for agricultural development and disaster mitigation. The method used was qualitative descriptive with stages of collecting DEMNAS Geospatial Data from the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) to obtain accurate elevation information, data processing using QGIS version 3.40, and visual analysis of contour and slope maps. The results showed that Mohupomba Island has an elevation range of 0–17 meters above sea level (masl), with a dense contour pattern in the eastern region indicating steep slopes, while the western part tends to be gentle. Most of the area is dominated by flat (0–8%) and gentle (8–15%) slopes, which are suitable for agricultural activities using soil conservation techniques. Meanwhile, areas with slopes >45% are classified as very steep and have a high potential for erosion and landslides, so they are not recommended for agricultural land development
The Role of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technology in Coal-Fired Power Plants in Supporting Zero-Emission Policies and National Energy Security
Coal-fired power plants remain the backbone of Indonesia’s national energy security despite their significant contribution to carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. In line with the national Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 target, the Indonesian government promotes low-carbon technologies such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). This study discusses the role of CCS in coal power plants in supporting zero-emission policies and national energy security, focusing on implementation effectiveness as well as the driving and inhibiting factors for its adoption in Indonesia. Based on recent literature (2019–2025), CCS demonstrates a strong potential to reduce up to 90% of CO₂ emissions while maintaining reliable domestic energy supply. Key driving factors include extensive geological storage potential, emerging regulatory support, and institutional readiness. However, several obstacles persist, such as high capital costs, regulatory uncertainty, limited infrastructure, and low public acceptance. Therefore, accelerating CCS implementation in Indonesia requires strengthening the regulatory framework, enhancing technical capacity, increasing transparency in storage data, and developing attractive business models. Through these efforts, CCS can serve as a strategic bridge toward a sustainable, low-carbon energy transition
Mathematics Learning Design Using Dynamic Technology Scaffolding to Improve Student Learning Outcomes
This study aims to develop and validate a mathematics learning design using Dynamic Technology Scaffolding (DTS) that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness to overcome learning obstacles for high school students in circle materials. The research uses the Educational Design Research (EDR) approach, with the following stages: Preliminary Research, Prototyping, Evaluation, and Implementation. Preliminary analysis identifies complex learning barriers, namely epistemological (abstraction difficulties) and ontogenic (weakness of prerequisites and affective motivation), which are exacerbated by didactic barriers. The DTS design is integrated into a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model that focuses on three pillars: Physical Modeling, Exploratory Modeling, and Expressive Modeling using dynamic software (GeoGebra). The results of expert validation showed that the design was in the Very Valid category (average 3.77). Practicality was tested with an average of 1.78 (fully implemented) and very positive responses from teachers/students (79.11% and 92.85%, respectively). A significant increase in learning outcomes evidences effectiveness: the average pretest of 53.11 jumps to 92.65 on the Learning Outcome Test, with classical completeness of 89.92% (exceeding the 80% criterion). The normalized N-Gain score reached 0.86 (High category), confirming that the mathematics learning design using DTS is very effective as an adaptive intervention to bridge the Proximal Development Zone (ZPD) and improve students' mathematical skills
