Strategies for Handling Horizontal Conflicts Among Motorcycle Gangs in Bandung

    No full text
The phenomenon of motorcycle gang violence in Bandung has developed into a multidimensional social conflict, rooted not only in direct acts of aggression but also in structural and cultural violence. This study analyzes the horizontal conflicts among motorcycle gangs using Johan Galtung’s violence triangle, Shaw and McKay’s social disorganization theory, and Friedrich Glasl’s conflict intervention framework. Employing Online Research Methods (ORM) and online content analysis, the research explores digital traces of gang-related violence, revealing how socioeconomic inequality, weak social cohesion, and cultural legitimization of violence contribute to the persistence of gang conflicts. The findings indicate that repressive law enforcement alone is insufficient, as conflicts have reached chronic levels of escalation. Lessons from Scotland’s Violence Reduction Unit and Costa Rica’s community-based prevention highlight the need for Indonesia to adopt a more holistic and participatory approach. The study recommends integrating law enforcement with preventive and transformative strategies, emphasizing education, youth empowerment, and community-based reconciliation to achieve sustainable conflict resolution

Framework for Chemical Disaster Response in Vocational Education Using History Case Pedagogy

    No full text
Chemical disasters, whether from industrial accidents, terrorism, or armed conflict, represent complex, low-frequency but high-consequence scenarios that challenge conventional vocational disaster management education. This conceptual paper addresses the pedagogical gap in preparing disaster response personnel for chemical threats by proposing an integrated competency framework grounded in historical case analysis. Drawing on experiential learning theory, reflective practice principles, and analysis of three major chemical incidents: Halabja (1988), Tokyo (1995), and Ghouta (2013), this framework articulates a three-tiered competency structure spanning foundational awareness to incident management. The paper demonstrates how historical chemical disasters can be systematically transformed into powerful pedagogical tools that develop technical, analytical, ethical, and psychosocial competencies essential for effective crisis response. This framework contributes to vocational education scholarship by offering a replicable model for teaching rare, high-stakes scenarios and provides practical guidance for curriculum developers addressing gaps in chemical disaster preparedness education

    No full text
The increasing number of students from other regions enrolling in universities makes it very important for us to understand the social and cultural barriers that students experience when adjusting to a new environment. The challenge faced by these migrant students is how to adapt to cultural variations in communicating with other students at Makassar State University. The purpose of this study is to examine intercultural communication, adaptability, and the role of digital communication among migrant students. This research uses a qualitative ethnographic communication study method. The findings of this study reveal that there are significant differences with the culture they encounter, including differences in language, attitude, and strong intonation when speaking that differ from the students' regions of origin, cultural values, and the use of digital communication such as articles, social media content, journals, and websites, which play a role in their adaptation. Another thing that overseas students do in facing challenges in communicating and adapting to new cultures is to observe, learn, and then begin to accept other cultures by adopting their attitudes, principles, and habits. This is known as acculturation

The AI-Dependent Learning Phenomenon Exploring Students’ Dependence on AI in Completing College Academic Task

    No full text
This study investigates the emerging phenomenon of AI-dependent learning among university students, focusing on how reliance on generative artificial intelligence tools shapes their academic behaviors, learning motivation, and engagement with course tasks. The rapid advancement of AI applications, such as ChatGPT, has transformed students’ study habits, yet concerns arise regarding excessive reliance that may weaken independent cognitive processes. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research involved 30 accounting students from State University of Makassar. Participants were selected through purposive sampling to ensure they had substantial exposure to AI-assisted academic work. The findings indicate that AI dependence is commonly driven by academic workload, tight deadlines, a desire for efficiency, and the perception that AI provides faster and higher-quality output. However, overreliance leads to diminished critical thinking, reduced confidence in completing tasks independently, and concerns related to academic integrity. This study highlights the urgent need for universities to establish AI literacy guidelines, promote responsible use, and design learning activities that balance technological assistance with genuine cognitive engagement

Managerial Approach in Implementing Management Accounting During Corporate Crisis at PT Lisna Syifa’ Prima

    No full text
Financial crises in the pharmaceutical distribution sector often generate complex managerial challenges that test organizational adaptability and resilience. This study investigates the managerial approaches used in implementing Management Accounting Systems (MAS) during a severe corporate financial crisis at PT Lisna Syifa’ Prima, a leading pharmaceutical distributor in Indonesia. The crisis, triggered by prolonged payment delays from APLN (a major health insurance provider linked to PLN), led to severe cash flow disruptions, supplier payment deferrals, operational slowdowns, and heightened insolvency risks. Employing a qualitative case study methodology, this research relies on semi-structured interviews with key informants—including the CEO, finance manager, operations manager, and accounting staff—supplemented by direct observations from financial strategy sessions and archival reviews of documents such as cash flow statements, supplier invoices, liquidity reports, and internal audits. The analysis reveals that adaptive and participative leadership styles were instrumental in deploying MAS effectively, fostering data-driven decision-making for liquidity forecasting, expense prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration. MAS tools enabled scenario simulations, cost optimization, and real-time monitoring, which ultimately mitigated the crisis and supported recovery. However, challenges like outdated IT infrastructure, siloed data systems, and limited analytical skills among employees hindered full MAS potential, delaying agile responses. Drawing on contingency theory, this paper extends the literature by illustrating how leadership dynamics and technological factors moderate MAS performance in crisis settings. Practically, it recommends pharmaceutical firms invest in integrated digital platforms, employee training in data analytics, and leadership programs emphasizing agility. Ultimately, the study underscores that in turbulent economic environments, robust MAS integration under adaptive management is vital not just for survival but for fostering long-term organizational sustainability and competitive edge. &nbsp
