Advokasi Partisipatoris Berbasis Media Visual bagi Warga Pesisir di Desa Timbulsloko Demak dalam Menghadapi Dampak Perubahan Iklim : Indonesia

    No full text
The climate crisis has seriously affected Indonesia's coastal areas, including Timbulsloko Village in Sayung Subdistrict, Demak. In this area, tidal flooding has submerged productive farmland and forced residents to adapt continuously. However, technical adaptation alone is insufficient; advocacy is also necessary to ensure community voices reach policymakers. This community-service program aimed to empower Timbulsloko residents in climate-crisis advocacy through photovoice training and the use of Instagram as a visual campaign platform. The program was implemented in partnership with Puspita Bahari, a community of women fishers in Demak, and involved participants from diverse age, gender, and occupational backgrounds. The methodology employed a participatory approach with three stages: (1) preparation, involving preliminary research, partner coordination, and training-of-trainers; (2) implementation of photovoice workshops; and (3) follow-up activities, comprising participants’ visual documentation via the Instagram account @timbulslokobangkit with ongoing support from the engagement team. Program outcomes included enhanced community capacity to document and visually communicate the impacts of the climate crisis; the creation of authentic campaigns reflecting the perspectives of affected communities; and strengthened collective awareness of environmental rights. A critical reflection from the program is its application of participatory action research principles in community engagement, including collaborative, social-process, emancipatory-critical, sustainability, and dialectical-reflective principles.

Currently, the development of local potential based on natural product and materials requires concrete steps to increase added value, stimulate investment and find new markets at home and abroad. One of the natural material commodities that has great potential is essential oil which is included in the plantation agribusiness sub-sector. So far, the essential oil industry has only maintain at the home industry and is still feeling the way in place. The study and development of techniques and knowledge about the benefits and applications of essential oils by involving research institutions both in the government and in universities has not been clearly known by most of the public. Essential oils produced by the Indonesian people are not yet popular even though in their daily lives the community is very close and even involved in the use of essential oil ingredients. Innovation and creation of essential oil derivative products involving various partners are new development challenges that must be faced by research institutions owned by universities and government-owned in order to jointly increase the nation's sustainable competitiveness. Center of Essential Oil Studies (CEOS UII) supports joint efforts between the government and the business sector even at the UMKM level so that technology dissemination takes place intensively and evenly, including the use of natural resources that are being innovatively developed and the diversification of the utilization of derivative and formulative products. Agribusiness and essential oil agroindustry business actors need to be used as partners so that the development of essential oil innovation and utility can be broad and even. Superior essential oil products need to be developed in suitable areas, using quality plant materials, and applying good cultivation methods to increase productivity and quality as well as variety of plant types. This activity will make one region produce superior and mainstay products that are highly competitive and give birth to partnerships that support each other and provide solutions to local and regional problems as quickly as possible. Indonesia's agro-industry and essential oil agribusiness are faced with two main problems, namely low quality and fluctuating prices. One of the solutions is an extensification and intensification program in the commodity and non-commodity sectors of essential oils. The essential crop extensification program needs to consider market absorption and prioritize the regional program of a region's mainstay commodity. The intensification program is prioritized to increase the productivity and quality of essential oil raw materials. This is intended so as not to pose a risk of loss for essential oil farmers.

THE DILEMMA OF PRODUCTIVE WAQF: INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING OR DISTRIBUTION PUBLIC WELFARE? ANALYSIS AT THE SYUHADA GRAND MOSQUE FOUNDATION IN YOGYAKARTA

    No full text
Purpose – This study aimed to analyze the implementation of productive waqf at the Syuhada Grand Mosque Foundation (YASMA) in Yogyakarta using the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah perspective with a systems approach. The analysis focuses on evaluating waqf governance, compliance with regulations, the mechanism for distributing benefits, and their impact on community welfare. Methods – This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study on the management of productive waqf at the Syuhada Grand Mosque Foundation in Yogyakarta. Research data were obtained through documentation, observation, and interviews with waqf managers. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and analytically using a system-based maqāṣid al-sharīʿah framework. Findings – The results of the study show that productive waqf at YASMA is managed in the form of cash waqf and land waqf focused on the construction and development of infrastructure, such as the Syuhada Center, Islamic Educational Institutions, and Dormitories. Waqf management contributes to institutional sustainability, but it is still internal in nature and does not provide broad economic benefits to the surrounding community. The practice of waqf management is carried out through the principles of openness and multidimensionality by simultaneously integrating the objectives of Sharia (Islamic law), social, and economic aspects. However, the utilization of waqf still tends to be oriented towards strengthening internal institutions (protective-institutional) and has not yet fully developed into a model of social transformation that expands the distribution of community welfare (maqāṣid 'amah). Research contribution/limitations – This study offers a more comprehensive community-based model of waqf institutional governance, benefit distribution, and its impact on community welfare. The limitations of this study lie in the case studies of local institutions; therefore, the findings cannot be fully generalized. Originality/value – This study provides added value by presenting an empirical analysis of productive waqf management based on mosques and its contribution to social welfare

Menakar Daya Lindung Hukum Perikatan Terhadap Hak Masyarakat Adat: Kajian Normatif Dan Komparatif

    No full text

Productive waqf governance reform in the digital economy: A comparative legal study

    No full text
Purpose – This study examines and compares the legal and governance frameworks of productive waqf in Indonesia and selected Muslim jurisdictions, such as Malaysia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, to identify the structural determinants of waqf performance. It aims to provide policy-relevant insights for reforming Indonesia’s waqf law within the broader context of Islamic law, governance reform, and the digital economy. Methodology – This research employs doctrinal and comparative legal methodologies using qualitative analysis. Primary legal sources consist of statutes, regulations, and institutional guidelines governing waqf, while secondary sources include academic literature and official reports. A structured comparative framework was applied to assess regulatory coherence, institutional capacity, stewardship mechanisms, investment governance, and digital governance across jurisdictions.Findings – The findings reveal that jurisdictions with centralized legal authority and integrated digital governance systems demonstrate comparatively stronger accountability, higher institutional capacity, and more productive utilization of waqf assets. In contrast, Indonesia’s fragmented regulatory structure, uneven nazhir professionalism, conservative investment rules, and limited digital integration constrain productive waqf development.Implications – This study highlights the need for Indonesia to strengthen institutional coordination, standardize nazhir competency frameworks, expand Shariah-compliant investment instruments, and establish an integrated national digital waqf information system to enhance transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.Originality – This study contributes original insights by offering a systematic cross-jurisdictional legal comparison and proposing an Integrated Waqf Governance Model that incorporates regulatory governance, institutional capacity, stewardship, and digital governance as key determinants of productive waqf performance in the digital economy era

Integration of Sharia Legal Principles into National Commercial Law System: A Comparative Study between Fiqh Books and Indonesian Civil Code

This study aimed to analyze the integration of Sharia principles into national commercial law system by comparing the classical fiqh literature with Indonesian Civil Code. The urgency of this study reflected existing ambiguities in the regulation of Sharia-based contracts in national legal system, which led to legal uncertainty in commercial practices and trade agreements affecting Muslim community. The formulated problems included (1) how could Sharia principles be integrated into national commercial law? and (2) to what extent could Indonesian positive law accommodate these principles? A normative legal study was conducted using a comparative method between Islamic and national civil law, along with qualitative analysis of relevant regulations and fatwas. The results showed that there were both similarities and differences between the two legal systems, specifically concerning the principles of mutual consent and object clarity. However, Islamic law tended to be stricter in upholding the lawfulness (halal) of the contract object and in prohibiting riba (usury) and gharar (uncertainty). Based on the results, this study recommended the reconstruction of national commercial law by integrating Sharia-based contracts, harmonizing legal norms through Supreme Court, and strengthening legal education to produce practitioners competent in both legal systems. In conclusion, the integration of Sharia principles into national commercial law enriched Indonesian legal system and fostered justice that was consistent with Islamic values

Privacy Protection Against Unauthorized Capture of Potraits Processed in The FotoYu Application

FotoYu, as a digital platform, connects photographers with yusers through an artificial intelligence system called RoboYu, which scans facial features to identify matching portraits. Although this innovation provides convenience, it also raises serious privacy concerns, as personal portraits can be accessed or purchased without the owner’s consent. This study aims to examine the legal protection of portraits taken without permission and processed through the FotoYu application. The research employs a normative juridical method; and using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. Data were obtained through a library study of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results show that FotoYu’s practice potentially violates Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law) and Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Law), particularly the obligation to obtain explicit consent from data subjects as stipulated in Article 20 of the PDP Law. The inaccuracy of the RoboYu system and the absence of a proper consent mechanism create risks of data misuse and privacy violations. Although the PDP Law provides both preventive protection mechanisms (through principles of transparency and consent) and repressive mechanisms (through administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions), implementation remains ineffective due to the absence of an independent supervisory authority as mandated by Article 58 of the PDP Law. Therefore, the establishment of such an authority and the strengthening of regulatory enforcement are essential to ensure the protection of privacy rights in the digital era

The Psychological Bridge to Exhaustion: Nomophobia Mediates the Link Between FoMO and Digital Fatigue in Digital Natives

    No full text
Abstract: The "always-on" culture of digital natives has accelerated the rise of digital fatigue, yet the underlying mechanisms transforming social anxiety into physical and mental exhaustion remain under-explored. This study investigates the mediating role of nomophobia—the fear of being without a mobile phone—in the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and digital fatigue. Utilizing a large-scale survey (N = 1,324) of Indonesian digital natives, mediation analysis reveals that nomophobia serves as a critical psychological bridge, accounting for a significant indirect effect in the FoMO-fatigue pipeline. By synthesizing Social Cognitive Theory and Cognitive Load Theory, our findings demonstrate that the compulsive drive for social connectedness systematically depletes cognitive and emotional resources. These results suggest that digital wellbeing interventions must move beyond simple "screen time" limits to address the underlying nomophobic anxiety that fuels exhaustion. This study provides a theoretical framework for developing targeted mindfulness-based interventions to mitigate the psychological toll of hyper-connectivity Keywords: Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), digital fatigue, digital native, nomophobi

The Social Glue: Humor and Open-Minded Thinking as Predictors of Friendship Quality in Migrant Students

    No full text
Abstract: For migrant university students, the transition to a new environment presents significant risks of social isolation, making high-quality friendships a critical buffer for psychological well-being. However, the internal cognitive and behavioral traits that drive these social bonds remain under-explored. This study examines the influence of a sense of humor and actively open-minded thinking (AOT) on friendship quality among undergraduate migrant students in Bandung (N=289). Using multiple linear regression analysis, we demonstrate that humor and AOT are significant predictors of social success, accounting for 25.9% of the variance in friendship quality. Our findings suggest that the ability to process diverse perspectives (AOT) and navigate social tension (humor) are essential competencies for building supportive networks. These results provide a framework for university counseling programs to enhance student resilience through targeted social-cognitive interventions. Key Words: Humor, Open-minded thinking, friendship quality, undergraduate migrant student

Redefining Loyalty: A Qualitative Exploration of the Job-Hopping Paradox and Occupational Commitment in Generation Z

    No full text
Abstract: Job hopping among Generation Z is frequently stigmatized as a crisis of organizational loyalty. However, traditional metrics that equate commitment with tenure fail to reflect the shifting values of the modern workforce. This qualitative study explores how Indonesian Gen Z employees navigate the tension between frequent career mobility and organizational commitment. Through in-depth interviews (N=6) with active job hoppers, thematic analysis reveals a critical paradox: while participants frequently exit organizations, they maintain robust occupational commitment, remaining steadfast in their professional fields. Our findings indicate that job hopping is not a rejection of responsibility but a strategic response to toxic leadership, excessive workloads, and career stagnation. For Gen Z, loyalty has transitioned from "where one works" to "how one works"—emphasizing integrity and professional identity over institutional longevity. This research challenges the "disloyalty" narrative and provides a roadmap for organizations to pivot from seniority-based retention to supportive environments that foster professional growth. Keywords: generation z, job hopping, occupational commitment, organizational commitmen
