The government’s policies to respond to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic may influence the community’s health-related behaviours, including the information-seeking behaviour. This study’s primary objective was to compare the popularity of online searches among Indonesians using related terms relevant to COVID-19 preventive measures before and during/after the first Jakarta’s partial lockdown. Identification of primary search terms was conducted based on WHO’s public advice and Indonesian MOH’s relevant information. Three selected terms related to commercial commodities were “masker”, “hand sanitizer”, and “vitamin” and two terms associated with a healthy lifestyle were “cuci tangan” and “jaga jarak”. Term variations for each primary term were identified and checked for the highest hits using google.co.id website, limited to all searches, country: Indonesia, and between 30 January and 4 October 2020. The primary terms were entered into Google Trends to retrieve the term popularity during the period of 30 January-9 April 2020 and of 10 April-30 September 2020, representing the period before and during/after the first Jakarta’s partial lockdown. The results show that “masker” and “vitamin” remained the two most popular terms before and during/after the lockdown. The term “jaga jarak” reached its highest peak three days before the lockdown and then decreased and levelled off afterwards. Only two search terms resulted in statistically significant differences of popularity across all 34 Indonesia’s provinces before and during/after the lockdown, namely “vitamin” (p<0.001) and “cuci tangan” (p=0.001). The term “vitamin” was less popular during/after the forced lockdown, with mean difference d -13.7 (95% CI -17.8, -9.6), while “cuci tangan” gained more popularity, with d 10.8 (95% CI 4.8, 16.7). In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the community’s health information-seeking behaviour about the preventive measures for the on-going pandemic can be affected by the government’s action to force a lockdown

COVID-19 pandemic has hit almost all regions of Indonesia in the last year. Rapid changes in information, prevention protocols, and policies regarding this pandemic often cause turmoil and confusion amid its citizens. In a workplace such as a university, different demographics and characteristics of the individuals may influence approaches in accessing and understanding the abundant information available online. This condition necessitates the building of a comprehensive COVID-19 prevention system and information network by the university. University of Jember has developed a comprehensive online platform regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, managed by health professionals. This platform contains a direct assistance service, telemedicine consultation, education through social media, and a cluster tracing system. In this paper, we share how the online platform has been utilized and the acceptance among its users. From the 870 students, staff, and citizens around the university utilizing social media and telemedicine services, recorded in the first five months of the pandemic, 150 were randomly chosen to fill out a short questionnaire which had been evaluated for validity and reliability. About 40% respondents rated the platform as helpful, 43% rated as very helpful, and the rest rated it as less useful. The age distribution of the users also showed that younger users tend to choose social media rather than the telemedicine service provided by appointed health professionals, but older users tend to utilize the telemedicine more. In conclusion, the online platform to promote COVID-19 prevention is generally accepted, but a subsequent study needs to be conducted to obtain better understanding of how to optimize it

Large-scale Social Restrictions (LSR) was the Indonesian government\u27s primary instrument to break the chain of coronavirus or COVID-19 transmission at the early phase of the pandemic. LSR implementation such as school and workplace closure, restrictions on religious activities, and or restrictions on activities on public premises or facilities. This study aims to investigate the effect of LSR policy on COVID-19 developments in Indonesia. This study was a cross-sectional study with a total population of 99,077,313 people from three provinces in Indonesia. This research analyzed the LSR policy implemented in the entire province or partially as an exposure and the development of Covid-19 as an outcome. The outcome was measured by doubling the times needed for new cases. Data were taken from secondary source namely from the COVID-19 task force report that has been announced publicly. The unpaired two-tailed Student’s t-test was used as statistical analysis of the secondary data. The results showed a significant impact (p<0.05) when comparing the province with full LSR policy with those implementing the LSR policy in some of their selected cities. The LSR policy of total province seems effective to suppress COVID-19 development as indicated by a more rapid and considerable increase in the doubling time of new cases following the implementation of LSR as early as possible in the provinces implementing LSR for their entire region than in the compared provinces. It can be concluded that LSR policy has a significant effect on COVID-19 development in Indonesia as indicated by a significant difference in the doubling time of COVID-19 new cases. Each province may have different times of the beginning and end of the COVID-19 epidemic; therefore, each province needs to design their coping strategy based on their particular condition

Wearing a face mask has become mandatory when going out in public. Besides hand washing and physical distancing, wearing a face mask is a preventive measure used to curb the spread of COVID-19. However, many people do not comply with the rules and have difficulties in wearing masks. This study aims to evaluate current knowledge on the importance of face masks and identify factors contributing to discomfort in wearing face masks. Using a Google form survey, the study was conducted among 155 medical students of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Data revealed 99.4% of the participants agreed on the importance of wearing masks and 92.35% respondents mentioned compliance in wearing masks. However, only 63.9% reported feeling comfortable while wearing a surgical mask. Certain factors were found to contribute to the discomfort of wearing face masks, such as feeling hot (77.4%), excessive sweating (76.1%), hard to breathe (67.7%) and trapping of odours (67.1%). Most of the respondents (84.5%) agreed that a change or alteration could be made to the current face mask design to make it more comfortable. During this COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of wearing masks has been well-realized by society. However, there remain several challenges associated with wearing them. Therefore, inventors should strive towards the innovation of a more comfortable and easy-wearing mask in order to enhance better compliance among users

One of the roles of insects in human life is to provide a balanced ecosystem. The contribution of insects in science is endless, with more discoveries in species that can be studied further. In Islam, scholars have described the legal texts as revelation and evidence of Allah\u27s greatness besides giving numerous lessons to human beings. However, no study has yet been done to systematically analyse the themes and lessons in which insects are mentioned in Islamic law\u27s primary scriptures. This study identified and analysed the insects mentioned in the Qur\u27an and Sunnah according to the lexical themes. This study used the content analysis method on the primary sources of revealed knowledge in Islam. With the way of insects found based on 6236 verses analysed from the Quran, the list was then imported as theoretical samples and continued with the thousands of hadiths found in Sunan Sittah, the primary document reference hadith in Islam. This study found that insects have been mentioned through various themes in both Qur\u27an and Sunnah. There are a total of 104 hadiths related to insects and can be classified according to eight themes such as allegory/teachings/attributes, hygiene/bathing, eating ethics, muamalat, dress code, worship, medicine and surah references. Findings indicate the role of insects as part of an essential element in human life. It shows that the integration of naqli (revelation-based texts) and aqli (human thought) is relevant throughout the ages. Further research needs to be done to see what is behind the main focus of the themes of mentioned insects. In the context of Islamic studies, the status of the hadiths related to insects can be further discussed. While the description of the exegesis needs to be explored and discussed so that the meaning of the ‘evidence of life’ as indicated by the prominent exegesis scholars can be translated as a new framework in this modern era.
