Covid-19 Pandemic in Malaysian Government Hospital: How Motivation Assists Medical Front Liners in Overcoming Burnout
Burnout among Malaysia's medical front-line workers is the subject of this paper, which aims to
shed light on how the government hospital helps them stay motivated during this COVID-19 pandemic. In the
medical field, burnout depression is a rare and growing problem. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, frontline
healthcare providers are at a higher risk of psychological stress and burnout. The excessive stress or
disappointment at government hospitals during this pandemic, the medical workers experienced a change in
motivation and loss of enthusiasm. Perhaps burnout is also more common among workers in high-stress jobs,
such as health-care workers (HCWs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Motivated employees may be less
likely to burn out if they are motivated by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. A lack of support from superiors, a
lack of supplement facilities in the government hospital, a lack of provisional rewards for medical workers,
low self-esteem, and other factors contributed to the front-line workers' burnout. During the COVID-19
pandemic, physicians showed a high rate of burnout, while healthcare organizations should implement
preventive and intervention programmes. The case study questions provide valuable insights into the effects of
motivation on job burnout among medical frontline employees. By balancing employee needs, motivational
factors could emerge, preventing the desire for job burnou
The Usage of Mobile Phone User during Covid-19 Pandemic
Along with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people had practiced social distancing by staying in their own homes. As a result, the usage of mobile phones had significantly increased in the attempt to stay socially connected despite the ongoing pandemic. This phenomenon had led to prolonged phone usage to the point where users’ health has been affected negatively. The aim of the study is to investigate the over usage of mobile phones during the COVID-19 pandemic and the negative impact caused by it. The research was conducted online through the distribution of questionnaires with mobile phone users as the targeted audience. The survey questionnaire was used as the main data collection methodology tool with a total of 100 respondents. The results of the questionnaire had proven that mobile phone usage had significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic with a high number of respondents claim to be suffering from the negative impact of mobile phones due to difficulties in stopping themselves from overusing their phones
A Review on the Antibacterial Activity of Edible Mushrooms
Edible mushrooms produce a variety of bioactive compounds that could be used as alternatives to antibiotics. This review was aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activities of most common edible mushrooms. Extracts of oyster, button, shiitake and enokitake mushrooms showed inhibition against various gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria with the latter being more susceptible towards the mushroom extracts. The zones of inhibition differed in the disk diffusion assay and the agar well diffusion assay as it was dependent on the type and the concentration of the extract used. Larger zones of inhibition were generally seen in the studies that used agar well diffusion assays as it used larger volumes of concentrated mushroom extracts. While many solvents were used to extract the bioactive compounds from these mushrooms, the ethanolic, methanolic and aqueous were the common extraction solvents used. The methanolic and ethanolic extracts also showed the highest zone of inhibition ranging from 8.3mm to 18.4mm indicating its effectiveness in extracting the bioactive compounds with antibacterial properties. Flavonoids, tannins, fatty acids, esters and lenthionine have been identified as some of the common chemicals in the mushroom extract that exhibit antibacterial effects on tested bacteria. However, further research on these compounds is required apart from the analysis on the possible combination of mushroom extracts which could exhibit synergistic antibacterial activities eventually suggesting the potential of the mushroom extracts as possible alternatives to antibiotic
Service Quality and Students' Satisfaction in Public Higher Education Institutions During Covid-19 in Malaysia
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for Malaysians. The pandemic hurts many sectors, especially education. When Malaysia's Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, announced the Movement Control Order effective 18th March 2020, all sectors related to education, nurseries, government and private schools, international schools and higher education institutions were closed. The purpose of this study is to survey students on whether service quality has a significant impact on student satisfaction during COVID-19 in Malaysia. This research was a descriptive study with the cross-sectional method. Survey with Likert scales will be used to get the feedback from respondents from Public Higher Education Institution. The data collected from 257 respondents were analyzed with SPSS software. The study utilised SERVQUAL measurement to distinguish whether service quality's dimensions of reliability, responsiveness, tangibles, assurance, and empathy significantly influence the undergraduate student satisfaction in Public Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia. This study is novel that it was one of the first customer satisfaction studies during Covid-19, and it is hoped that the findings will be of pivoting reference by the practitioner and the researchers alike
Numerical Experimentation on Argentina Nano Focus Machine
Introduction: Argentina Nano Focus Machine is a small transportable dense plasma focus used as a
portable intense, fast neutron source.
Methods: The objective of this paper is to show that by using only one experimental current waveform
together with the actual machine and operating parameters, the Argentina Nano Focus Machine could be
numerically modelled to enable the study of its plasma dynamics and its yield of ion beams and fusion
neutrons.
Results: The computed results agree reasonably with the measured in terms of the peak current (computed
of 55 kA compared to the measured value of 62 kA), the radial phase start time and the duration of the
pinch phase (computed 49 ns compared to experimentally estimated of 50 ns).
Conclusion: This demonstrates that the code is a valuable tool to complement the actual experiment by
correctly computing the axial and radial trajectories' dynamics through the measured current waveform.
Additionally, the code also produces the variation of ion beam energy and neutron yield as functions of
pressure, for which there is no published experimental data
Challenges of Physiotherapist During Prosthesis Rehabilitation in Malaysia
The present study reported the challenges faced by the physiotherapist during prosthesis rehabilitation in Malaysia. Mortality due to lower limb amputation is a concern in recent days that can be improved by providing proper rehabilitation. However, challenges faced by the physiotherapist during rehabilitation are expected to affect the effectiveness of the rehabilitation. Hence, it is important to identify the possible challenges faced by the physiotherapist during prosthesis rehabilitation to take the necessary precautions for better outcomes. A total of 200 Malaysian physiotherapists who have experience in rehabilitating amputees were selected to participate in this online survey. The participants were requested to complete a self-administered electronic questionnaire containing 20 questions. The present study reported a few challenges faced by the physiotherapists in Malaysia during prosthesis rehabilitation such as “encountering patient that refuse to perform exercises is common” (77%), encountered high physical demand (81.5%), encountering language barriers (48.5%), patients often encounter difficulty in assessing health service (63.5%) and encountering prosthesis problems (67%). The barriers were inconsistent and complex, including patient factors, healthcare provider’s factors, environmental factors, other factors. The study has highlighted challenges faced by the physiotherapists during prosthesis rehabilitation to raise awareness among physiotherapists and at the same time create ideas for specific health care practitioners to overcome the barriers, therefore shortening the length of rehabilitation and enhancing the effectiveness of the rehabilitation to lower the mortality
Implementation of Industrialised Building System (IBS) in Construction Industry Malaysia: A Study in Perlis
In Malaysia, the implementation of IBS still can be improved by giving encouragement among
the developer in construction industry as there are still many states in Malaysia has very low IBS
implementation such as Perlis. Therefore, it is importance for the government to have a plan to
find out the way in increasing the IBS implementation. On the other hand, government must not
only focus on encouraging the companies to implement IBS, but also need to focus on the
percentage of the IBS manufacturer exist in Malaysia. If a lot of companies implement IBS but
there is lack of IBS manufacturer also no point for the companies to implement it. The
implementation of IBS will actually bring a lot of benefits to the companies such as faster
completion for a project, waste reduction on site and reduce pollution on site. These will ensure
the project that come out is more valuable. However, there are some barriers which cause a lot of
developer companies not to implement this IBS such as high initial cost, available of cheap foreign
labour, lack of technical knowledge, lack of creativity in design, etc. All these barriers cause the
percentage of IBS implementation in Malaysia still need to be improved. Therefore, some
strategies were figure out which can be used to enhance the implementation of IBS such as raising
awareness, benchmark of IBS technology or maximize value of IBS. Lastly, all the data will
collecting by literature review and quantitative research method. Then, will analyzed by
quantitative data analysis
Examining the Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Non-Supervisory Organizational Citizenship Behaviour
The study's importance lies in determining how negative individual points of view resulting in a lack of commitment and a low degree of faithfulness can impact employee behaviour, such as insufficient professionalism, poor teamwork, low self-awareness, and high turnover in the current situation. Also, other current banking industry situations exhibited this unfavourable characteristic. The relationship between organizational commitment and non-supervisory organizational citizenship behaviour at Bank Simpanan National in Malaysia was tested using an objectives study. The research objectives were employed using a survey and a systematic analysis method. The non-supervisory staff sampled using non-probability convenience sampling, which resulted in 172 (Male=48.8; Female=51.2). Participants in this study were non-supervisory employees. The quantitative method used to analyze this study. The hypotheses also confirmed the association between the 1st orders construct of organizational commitment and non-supervisory organizational citizenship behaviour, both organizational and individual. SPSS Version 24 was used to analyze the related variables. In this study, we found a positive relationship between organizational commitment to citizenship behaviour and significant levels of citizenship behaviour. The novelty findings of this study showed that positive citizenship behaviour recommends as a way to increase employee commitment
Dense Plasma focus experimentation in the “COVID-19” environment
In today’s world of the “COVID-19 endemic”, movement control order has been enforced in a majority of countries all over the world. This severely restricts access to universities and research facilities. In this paper, Lee’s model code which was developed by one of the coauthors, is shown to simulate Tsinghua University Plasma Focus machine of Beijing China. Such numerical experiments are a good stop-gap measure until we can access our laboratories again. Our code requires only a measured current waveform from the actual machine. The computed current waveform is fitted to the measured current waveform by fine-tuning the model parameters. Once fitted, realistic dynamics is generated giving a good understanding to the plasma conditions in the machine. Importantly, we demonstrate that the neutron yield computed from this code agrees reasonably well with the published measurements
Sustainability Impact of COVID-19: Insights for the Event Tourism Management Industry
This literature review looks at the macro environmental impacts of COVID-19 on the event tourism industry from three aspects, namely, environmental, economic, and technological factors. The literature is then looked at from a sustainability perspective which questions what has happened to the event tourism experience, whether the pandemic has permanently changed the event landscape, and if life would return to how it used to be before the outbreak of the virus. Paired with theoretical discussion, the findings include positive and negative environmental impacts, the acceptance of sustainable event organizing that prioritizes natural capital, economic drawbacks and solutions, and the technological adaptations to event tourism. The relevant theories such as the macro-environmental factors and Theory of Planned Behavior had been reflected in this review. The significance of this review will help develop further arguments on issues that are indirectly affected by the changes of today
