A Review of Banana Fiber: Impact of Treatment, Filler Materials, Hybrid Composite, and Application
This review paper examines the significance of comprehending the attributes of
banana fibers and their initial processing in influencing the mechanical, thermal, and
morphological aspects of composites. The study's findings indicated that the application of
alkaline solutions or other chemicals to banana fibers had a substantial influence on the
performance of the composite material. Modifications in fiber treatment parameters have the
potential to modify composite characteristics, such as the interplay between fibers and matrix.
Incorporating filler elements significantly affects the composite by enhancing its rigidity and
grip while also altering physical characteristics like heat conduction and resistance to
corrosion. The utilization of banana fiber components, in conjunction with other fiber and filler
materials, showcases ingenuity in creating sustainable composites for various industrial
applications. The study emphasizes the necessity of creating more robust, less weighty, and

Transfer of Technology for Tactical Floating Bridge Local Fabrication
In this study, the focus was on the study of the transfer of technology that takes place in the Royal Engineer Regiment. The study began with a review of the literature on the transfer of technology that occurs in the Malaysian Armed Forces and the country's defense industry. The study includes the identification of problems, implementation strategies, and methods used to carry out the transfer of technology in the defense industry. Technical studies were conducted to gather information on the concept of construction for tactical floating bridge modules using the case study as well as the direct involvement during handling of the asset. The collection of data on the problem, the next execution of strategies and methods are reviewed and concepts to solve problems, the proposal of implementation strategy and propose methods for local manufacturing of tactical pontoon bridge. The study will be able to create better awareness to the transfer of technology and assist in the defense of the country through the provision of better war equipment and more easily available
Organizational Readiness for Change to Lean Initiatives Amongst Nigerian Manufacturing SMEs: Literature Review and Questionnaire Pre-test
This study pre-tested measurements of organizational readiness for change from the dimensions of change efficacy and change commitment to measure manufacturing SMEs' confidence and willingness to change to lean. Expert opinion and respondents focus groups are used to examine the content of the items in the questionnaire, followed by pilot study of manufacturing SMEs, The result of the pilot study reveals the two dimensions of organizational readiness for change to Lean initiative; thus, change efficacy and change commitment have shown acceptable reliability. Change efficacy has a Cronbach Alpha of 0.911, while change commitment has 0.845 as Cronbach Alpha. The study concludes that the two dimensions of organizational readiness for change are reliable for conducting studies with large sample size
Effect of CrossFit Training versus Resistance Training on Muscular Strength and Body Composition in Sedentary Obese Collegiate Boys
BACKGROUND: The lack of physical activity in daily life induces obesity and increases the risk of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Obesity has become a worldwide epidemic that leads to many health-related conditions. Regular exercises can markedly reduce the body weight and fat mass without any dietary caloric restrictions in obese and overweight individuals.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of crossfit training versus resistance training on muscular strength and body composition in sedentary obese collegiate boys.
METHODS: An experimental study conducted on 20 obese subjects, they were divided into 2 groups of 10 in each group based on the convenient sampling method. Group A underwent Crossfit training and Subjects in Group B underwent Resistance training for 4 weeks. 1 RM Bench press test, 1 RM Squat test and Skinfold thickness measurement were used to measure Upper body muscular strength, Lower body muscular strength and Body composition.
RESULTS: An Independent sample t-test was used to compare the two groups. There was a significant difference in Bench press test scores in Group A (1.08 ± 0.05, p = 0.002) and in Group B (1.22 ± 0.03, p = 0.009), t(18)=7.22. Squat test scores in Group A (1.44 ± 0.10, p = 0.016) and Group B (1.21 ± 0.04, p = 0.04), t(18)=6.4. Skinfold thickness measurement scores at the level of Triceps (Group A = 28.4 ± 2.88, p = 0.008 and Group B = 34 ± 3.62, p = 0.006), t(18)=3.8, Chest (Group A = 26.5 ± 3.03, p = 0.021 and Group B = 34.2 ± 4.10, p = 0.027), t(18)=4.8 and Subscapular (Group A = 27.3 ± 3.20, p = 0.005 and Group B = 36.7 ± 4.64, p = 0.03), t(18)=5.3. The results suggest that Crossfit training group have shown significant improvement in all parameters following intervention.
CONCLUSION: The study concludes that the Crossfit training is more effective in improving muscular strength and in reducing body composition than resistance training in sedentary obese collegiate boys
Effect of Prolonged use of Facemask among Health Science Students during COVID-19 Pandemic
Background: Corona virus disease (covid-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2(sars-cov-2) which causes infection in nose, sinuses or upper throat and lungs. Recommended preventive measures include vaccination, wearing mask in public, social distancing ventilation and hand washing. Among which Face mask has its importance in protecting people from the corona virus disease. Prolonged usage (>8h) of mask (in office workers, college students, health workers) has been associated with complaints of headache, as well as an increase in perceived exertion and perceived shortness of breath. Objective: This study aimed to find out the effect of prolonged use of facemask among health science students during COVID-19 pandemic.
Methodology: A cross sectional study conducted among 101 health science students. A validated self-administered questionnaire consists of 3 components such as satisfaction of wearing masks, site of pain, and severity of pain was distributed among the students. Both genders age range from 18 to 25 and who wear N95 and surgical masks were included in this study. Completed questionnaire were analyzed statistically.
Results: The obtained result shows that the quantification of pain felt by students only mild pain was common and it was 57.42%, moderate (36.63%) and severe (1.98%) pain Conclusion: Even though masks have become an essential part of daily life, extended use and the material of facemasks play a vital role in producing significant discomfort in all participants throughout their lengthy use, which requires careful consideration in everyday life
Digital Transformation in Higher Education – A Study on Productivity and Environmental Sustainability
Tertiary education is essential as it helps to boost economic growth, reduce poverty, and promote shared prosperity, leading to a higher demand for higher education worldwide. International business promotes not only the exchange of goods and services but also the transfer of resources, ideas, and people. As a result, tertiary education institutions are expanding their abroad programmes in order to attract students interested in international education. However, the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 has strongly affected tertiary education, as most countries have implemented travel restrictions and prohibited people from entering or leaving. Therefore, online learning was implemented worldwide in order to overcome the challenges. Nonetheless, students are able to attend classes at any location as long as they have a stable internet connection. In addition, the concept of online learning reduces the time and travel costs for students to attend physical classes. Moreover, online lectures are able to be recorded, allowing students to review and revise previous lectures they would have missed. However, there are challenges to online learning, such as a lack of motivation and interaction between students and lecturers, poor teaching quality due to a lack of technical skills, and students who are easily distracted. This study will examine the adoption of online platforms for teaching and learning in the higher education industry and its prospects for higher productivity and a positive impact on environmental sustainability
THE INFLUENCE OF REGIONAL BACKGROUND AND INCLUSIVITY OF PRIDE EVENTS TO THE MENTAL WELLBEING OF LGBTQ+ PEOPLE
This literature review attempted to answer the reason of the LGBTQ+ community in gaining more support presently by utilising the approach of structuralism and poststructuralism theoretical methods. Then, the mental health of the sexual minorities is critically assessed through the kaleidoscopic lenses of regional backgrounds, specifically the influence of cultural and religion upbringing towards the degrees of acceptance in LGBTQ+ people. The inclusivity of pride events to the mental wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ people had been deliberately reflected and justified through research findings and statistical data. Ultimately, the implications had been given to event organisers and corporates to have better scope in understanding the niche market of LGBTQ+ consumers. This literature review can be momentous for future researcher to endeavour a finer and comprehensive investigation on the subject matters in this study
Effect of Ultrasound Versus Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation in Management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the second most prevalent cause of work absence, resulting in hand functional loss and disability which affects 5.8% in women and 0.6% in men. This compression neuropathic syndrome causes pain, numbness& paraesthesia in the median nerve's distribution. Atrophy of thenar muscles may occur in later stage.
Objective: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effects of ULTRASOUND and TENS in the management of CTS.
Methodology: A total of 30 subjects with CTS were selected according to inclusion and exclusion standards. Patients were split into two groups at random (experimental -15, conventional-15). The experimental group will receive ULTRASOUND along with wrist mobility exercise. The conventional group will receive TENS along with wrist mobility exercise for the period of two sets of five reps, five times per week for six weeks. VAS pain scale and BCTQ (Boston carpal tunnel questionnaires) was utilized as an outcome measure.
Result: The mean value of pretest was (VAS-5.13, SSS-29.27, FSS-19.93) and the posttest values was (VAS-2.00, SSS-14.07, FSS-9.13) for experimental group and the mean value of pretest was (VAS-5.20, SSS-29.67, FSS-20.73) and the post values was (VAS-4.00, SSS-21.52, FSS-16.93) for conventional group, respectively.
Conclusion: From the study, it has been concluded that ULTRASOUND showed the better results in pain relief and functional activity in patients with CTS. Although TENS showed gradual improvement in pain relief alone
Effect of Sacral Nerve Stimulation on Detrusor Overactivity among Spinal Cord Injury
Background and aim: Spinal cord injury is still a leading cause of disability. Nowadays, there is a high level of illness and death. According to the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Centre, every year, 40 new instances per million people are documented. Over 80% of these people have some form of bladder dysfunction. Some studies suggest that sacral nerve stimulation can help with bladder dysfunction. Hence, this study was aimed to identify the benefit of sacral neuronal activity on detrusor over activity among spinal cord injury.
Material & methods: This pilot test was analysed at the Saveetha Institute of Medical Science and Technology (SIMATS). For a four-week period, 15 patients with post-spinal cord injury were chosen. Patients were evaluated with overactive bladder symptoms score before the initiation of treatment. The patients were given with sacral nerve stimulation for 4 weeks 2 sessions per day. After 4 weeks of intervention patients were assessed with overactive bladder symptoms score as a posttest value.
Result: The statistical analysis revealed a statistically significant improvement. The sacral nerve stimulation has been demonstrated to be efficacious in curing detrusor overactivity caused by spinal cord damage.
Conclusion: This study emphasizes that sacral nerve stimulation improves bladder function in people with spinal cord injurie
A Review on Acupuncture Treatment for Post-stroke Aphasia
Post stroke aphasia is a communication disorder that occurs after stroke which affects their daily life. With the aging of the population, an increasing number of stroke sequelae patients have brought a heavy burden to their families and society. For the treatment of post stroke aphasia, western medicine mostly uses a combination of western medicine treatment with speech rehabilitation training which are not particularly satisfying. Meanwhile acupuncture plays an important role in treating this disease due to its own unique effectiveness. The objective of this study is to review the effectiveness of the different types of acupuncture methods on treating post stroke aphasia. All the data are collected from online databases based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection is tabulated using the Microsoft Excel and results are discussed. There are 40 selected journals that are eligible for inclusion criteria. Based on the results, the highest clinical efficacy in tongue acupuncture is needling the tongue tip without retending the needle method whereas in scalp acupuncture, the highest clinical efficacy is language I, II, III area method, while in body acupuncture, the highest clinical efficacy is Bai Hui, Feng Chi, Jin Jin, Yu Ye, Lian Quan, He Gu, Ren Zhong, Nei Guan, Ji Quan and San Yin Jiao method. Overall, the combined acupuncture method has the highest frequency and effectiveness rate among the four different types of acupuncture methods in treating post stroke aphasia. In conclusion by reviewing all the recent experimental articles, acupuncture showed higher effectiveness in treating post stroke aphasia compared to conventional therapy
