    No full text
Our research aimed to explore the extent to of the effects of recent global socio-politicaleconomic events (e.g. the pandemic, the Ukrainian-Russian war, the energy crisis, and inflation) have influenced and changed people's transport habits, disaggregated by age groups. The survey was conducted in Hungary in May-June 2023 using an online questionnaire survey. We assume that based on social habits, people, regardless of age, prefer public transport over private cars. People like more walking or cycling to work or school when they can, and most of them do not use cars for small shopping trips either. In terms of car use, the use of electric or hybrid vehicles is less relevant in Hungary, while petrol or diesel cars predominate. We found out that people's transport habits have changed in recent years due to external negative impacts on society. During the pandemic, there was a shift away from public transport, but now that the pandemic is over, the energy crisis and inflation (e.g. significant fuel price increases) have led most people to prefer alternative means of transport and public transport options. Quantitative research results showed that the under-18s in Hungary mainly walk or travel by bus and bicycle, young people aged 18-25 go on foot, by car, bus, and train, the 26-55 age group by car, car and on foot, the 56-65 age group by car and on foot and the older generation (66+) on foot, by bicycle, bus, and car. A higher proportion of respondents between 36-45 years use diesel vehicles and a higher proportion of respondents aged 18-35 and 46-65 years use petrol vehicles. Inflation and changes in energy prices have increased the use of bicycles in all age groups. Bus and train use has increased in the age groups under 18, 18-25, 46-55, and over 66. The use of private cars fuelled by petrol or diesel increased only in the 26-35 age group. There is also an increasing tendency towards walking in all age categories

Atomistic Study of the Bandgap Engineering of Two-Dimensional Silicon Carbide by Hydrogenation

    No full text
This work studied hydrogen adsorption by a two-dimensional silicon carbide using a combined molecular dynamics and density functional theory approach. The geometrical properties of partially and fully hydrogenated structures were investigated, considering the effect of zero-point energy. The preferred hydrogen atom location is on top of silicon atoms. The hydrogen interaction energies were obtained for the first time as the attractive force. For fully hydrogenated 2D SiC, the chair-like conformer is the most stable configuration, and the next is the boat-like conformer, while the table-like structure is not stable. The coverage and arrangement of the adsorbed hydrogen atoms significantly influence the values of the direct/indirect bandgaps of the considered systems, increasing the bandgap to 4.07, 3.64, and 4.41 eV for chair-like, table-like, and boat-like, respectively. Their dynamical stability was investigated by phonon dispersion calculations. The obtained results can serve as a guide for the application of hydrogenated two-dimensional silicon carbide in optoelectronic applications in manufacturing innovation

The stock market that has been known volatile is always an attractive target for the researchers to perform research and experiment on. Stock trend prediction is one of the most famous topics that is done as the movement of a stock is full of uncertainty and is affected by many different factors. In this research, the technical indicator of a stocks has been utilized (MA, EMA, RSI and MACD) to get the signal of the upcoming trend of a stock in order to achieve stock trend prediction. Machine learning techniques is also applied to process those stock data and stock indicator. The technique that is proposed to develop the stock prediction model is the Long Short Term Memory Neural Network, also known as LSTM. After the model is developed, it will be used to carry out prediction on stock and compare the actual stock movement with the predicted stock movement to find out its accuracy in making stock trend prediction. Three stocks will be used to validate the performance of the model which are Public Bank, Tenaga, and Apex Healthcare. The results show that the trend of the inspected stocks are successfully predicted using the LSTM model

    NOKIA, THE LOST SIGNALS

    No full text
The decline of Nokia, formerly a prominent player in the mobile phone business, signifies a substantial downfall resulting from the company's failure to adjust to the swift advancements in the smartphone market. Nokia, although initially successful with its robust and reliable mobile devices, failed to accurately predict and successfully address the emergence of touchscreen smartphones, which were spearheaded by competitors such as Apple and Samsung. The antiquated Symbian operating system, employed in previous iterations of Nokia phones, demonstrated inadequacy in comparison to contemporary platforms like iOS and Android. Nokia formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft in 2011, with the aim of recovering its market share. As part of this collaboration, Nokia decided to use the Windows Phone platform for its handsets. Nevertheless, this approach proved ineffective in turning around the company's financial situation. Nokia's lack of adaptability, inability to keep up with industry changes in terms of innovation, and strategic errors ultimately resulted in its financial difficulties. Microsoft purchased Nokia's Devices and Services division in 2014, effectively ending Nokia's previous dominance in the mobile phone manufacturing industry. The downfall of Nokia serves as a warning example of the negative outcomes that arise from being too comfortable and the urgent need for enterprises to quickly adjust in rapidly changing technology environment
