Digital Notice Board using Bluetooth and Arduino
In this project, Bluetooth and Arduino microcontrollers are used to build and operate a wireless noticeboard system. To disseminate real-time information across many contexts, a cutting-edge, interactive platform is now being developed. On conventional noticeboards, there are just physical notes and human modifications, both of which can be tedious and time-consuming. This solution makes use of Bluetooth connectivity and the adaptability of Arduino to let users send messages wirelessly from their cell phones or laptops.
The Bluetooth-enabled devices used in the wireless noticeboard system allow users to enter messages. An Arduino microcontroller with a Bluetooth module collects the messages, processes them, and displays the results on a display device. Users can rapidly post messages to the noticeboard from their mobile devices using Bluetooth technology without having to engage with it physically. The system's core processing unit, the Arduino microcontroller, which also activates the display unit, receives and processes incoming messages before displaying them
Augmented Reality Application for Optical Character Recognition
Augmented Reality (AR) technology has become popular for improving user experiences by superimposing virtual features on the real world. OCR is another recent method for extracting text from photos or real-world items. AR and OCR are combined in a new software that provides an immersive and engaging experience. The proposed AR-based OCR system uses Firebase as a backend. Users can point their smartphones at papers, signs, or other textual material to use AR, which will automatically recognizeand extract the content. This extracted content can be translated, converted to text-to-speech, or shared on social media. Storage and management of recognizedtext data is reliable and scalable with the Firebase database connector. The Firebase Realtime Database can immediately sync extracted text across several devices for user collaboration and sharing. Firebase Authentication can authenticate and authorizeusers for safe OCR access. The programuses image processing for text extraction, OCR models for accurate recognition, and AR frameworks like ARCore (Android) and ARKit (iOS). The application will be linked to the Firebase backend using SDKs and APIs for real-time data synchronizationand safe data storage. The AR-based OCR application has great promise in education, logistics, retail, and other industries. It can extract text from physical documents, increase accessibility for visually challenged people, and translate foreign languagetext in real time. Firebase's backend database solution meets the application's needs for scalability, dependability, and data security
An Approach to Secure Data Sharing in the Internet of Things Using Blockchain- Based Proxy Re-Encryption
The prevalence of data sharing has increased with the rise in popularity of cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). However, ensuring data security is difficult because of the possible negative consequences of illegal data usage. This study presents a method for ensuring the secure transmission of data in cloud environments: proxy re-encryption. The identity-based encryption method enables data owners to transfer encrypted data to the cloud. Subsequently, a proxy re-encryption framework enables authorized individuals to access the data. To surpass the limitations of IoT device resources, we utilize an edge device as a proxy server to transfer computationally intensive tasks to a separate device. By utilizing the advantages of information-centric networking, we can optimize network capacity and enhance service quality by efficiently distributing cached content across the proxy. This method decreases bottlenecks in centralized systems while providing precise control over data access. The proposed work demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategy in ensuring data security, confidentiality, and integrity through thorough security research and plan review
The Role of Engineers in Advancing Sustainable Development Goal 9 in Underdeveloped Communities through Leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies
In underdeveloped communities, achieving Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG9) poses
significant challenges. Underdeveloped communities lack essential services such as water
purification, electricity, sanitation, health facilities and many more. Inclusivity in development
stands out as one of the key drivers of SDG9. It is then quite unfortunate that underdeveloped
communities have been excluded in almost all aspects of development and advancement. However
gloomy the situation might look, most of the challenges faced by underdeveloped communities
can be overcome if engineers are to leverage Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies in
coming up with innovative solutions for sustainable development. In 4IR technologies lie a lot of
opportunities to change lives in underdeveloped communities thereby contributing significantly to
the attainment of SDG9 by the year 2030. The integration of 4IR technologies such as Artificial
Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Renewable Energy solutions offer engineers the
tools to address complex challenges and create more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable
infrastructure systems. This paper explored academic literature, policy documents, and reports
from reputable sources such as the United Nations (UN), and relevant engineering journal articles.
Findings underscore the pivotal role that engineers should play in leveraging 4IR technologies in
order to advance SDG9 through the upliftment of underdeveloped communities. A case in point
where engineers have leveraged 4IR technologies in order to improve the livelihoods of the
backward communities is the use of mobile money platforms in place of brick and mortar banks.
Examples are, Ecocash in Zimbabwe, and Mpesa in Kenya Africa. These platforms have enabled
people in underdeveloped communities to access banking facilities through their mobile phones.
These banking platforms do not rely on brick and mortar facilities. They are solely based on 4IR
technologies
