The myth of the Argonauts, well-known in Greek mythology, has made its mark in the consciousness of the Slovenians as an important element indicating the connection of Slovenian culture with ancient culture. The basis for the following thesis is the assumption of the so-called Danubian version of the myth according to which the Argonauts, returning from the Black Sea (Colchis in Georgia), visited the territory of present-day Slovenia and founded the city of Emona. The incorporation of this version in the epic poem of Apollonius of Rhodes has increased the interest among researchers of the history of Ljubljana as well as inspired artists to reinterpret the voyage of the Argonauts in culture. The aim of this work is to explore the traces of the Argonauts’ presence in the imaginary memory of Slovenes in Slovenian literature, taking into regard the status and functioning of the Argonauts myth in the literary and non-literary reality of Slovenia. The myth of the Argonauts, well-known in Greek mythology, has made its mark in the consciousness of the Slovenians as an important element indicating the connection of Slovenian culture with ancient culture. The article is the analysis of the spatial organization of Yurii Yanovskyi’s novel Master of the Ship. Using the hermeneutic and comparative-typological method, the author concludes that space dominates in this literary work, as opposed to time. The space is formed by synthesizing the topoi of the sea and the steppe; it is characterized by a heterogeneous structure consisting of the space of death, corporeality, culture, social, and others. These spaces interact with one another both on the basis of consonance and contradiction. The space of the novel substantially substantiates its ideological and artistic content, which can be defined as the author’s contradictory attempt to establish the emergence of a new “beautiful” world. The article is the analysis of the spatial organization of Yurii Yanovskyi’s novel Master of the Ship. Using the example of two Ruthenian denominational schools in Ruski Krstur and Kucura, the article presents the history of Ruthenian education in Vojvodina in the 18th and 19th centuries. The described institutions played an important role in preserving the language, culture, and identity of the small Ruthenian diaspora, which formed in Bačka and Srem from the mid-18th century. By outlining the history of Ruthenian education, particular emphasis is placed on the years around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when, like other non-Hungarian national minorities, the Ruthenians were subjected to the process of Magyarization. The article also presents the profiles of the most famous teachers and graduates of Ruthenian schools, who played a key role in the cultural and national revival of the Ruthenians in Vojvodina in the first half of the 20th century.Using the example of two Ruthenian denominational schools in Ruski Krstur and Kucura, the article presents the history of Ruthenian education in Vojvodina in the 18th and 19th centuries. This study is devoted to the consideration of the Odessa myth in its evolution. This myth is literary by its origin. He canonized certain writings which created the stereotypical image of the seaside city and its inhabitants. Boris Khersonskyi reveals the connection between the myth and the time in which it was created. He argues that the myth of Odessa has also some features of the Soviet world perception. It is not by chance that the literary canon was based on the works of Soviet writers Isaak Babel, Valentin Kataev, Konstantin Paustovsky, Ilya Ilf and Evgeniy Petrov. The current crisis of this myth is quite understandable. The myth of Odessa can no longer convincingly represent a local identity which is changing with the world around it.This study is devoted to the consideration of the Odessa myth in its evolution. The article interprets artistic images on the theme of the Black Sea in the work of the iconic Ukrainian poet and thinker of the interwar period – Yevhen Malanyuk. Emphasis is placed on the expressiveness of the artistic thinking of Malanyuk, who managed to create bright and multifaceted images-symbols and images-concepts regarding the mental and civilizational attraction of the Ukrainian ethnic group to the Black Sea. It is traced how the author substantiated his poetic visions with deep theoretical reflections in historiosophical and cultural essay writing. The central idea of the writer: the Black Sea was and is an important geopolitical and geocultural frontier for the Ukrainian ethnic group and its state. It is explained why Malanyuk believed that the Hellenistic and Scythian-Sarmatian archetypes from Ukrainian ethnogenesis determined the peculiarities of the Ukrainian psychotype. The article interprets artistic images on the theme of the Black Sea in the work of the iconic Ukrainian poet and thinker of the interwar period – Yevhen Malanyuk. The author of the article researches the consciousness-evolution of Ukrainian elite in the 19th century – from admiration for Slavophilia to the affirmation of the national idea. The main role in this process belongs to Kyїv University (1834) and The Brotherhood of Saints Cyril and Methodius (1845–1847). The Brotherhood was an independent organization of Ukrainian intellectuals that existed in Kyїv and was banned by the authorities of the Russian Empire, its members Mykola Kostomarov, Panteleimon Kulish, Vasyl Bilozerskyi, Mykola Hulak and others were repressed. Kyїv played an important role in the establishment of Ukrainian identity – through an appeal to the medieval past and the common heritage of Slavic civilization. Over time, interest in the ideology of Slavophilia has weakened significantly. The ideology of national sovereignty of Ukrainians comes to the fore. It represents the decisive reforms that had been implemented in 20th century. The author of the article researches the consciousness-evolution of Ukrainian elite in the 19th century – from admiration for Slavophilia to the affirmation of the national idea.
