Practicaly until today there haven’t appeared objectiv scientific works concerning begining and evolution of the byzantine monarchy. Christian Church after 300 years of awful persecutions came out of the underground and had to find itself in the new reality, had to decide whether reconcile and cooperate with the society, or isolate from the fallen world, as had done sects, and save chosen. Church chose the first option and took responsibility for the salvation of the world. In reality the emperor, the recent persecutor of the Church, must have persuaded christians, that he himself was not only their friend but good-doer also. Therefore in the 4th century beside the Church of the eschatological character appeared a new power of a temporary character. History of the Eastern Roman Empire is also the history of the relationship between Church and the empire focused on the earthly dimension of its mission. The very symbol of this relationship was famous byzantine eagle as a representation of one body and two different ideological trends. However those relations had not always been ideal, more or less those two bodies existed through the period of 1100 years on the principle of symphonia-agreement. After the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire, Church by the will of God survived in order to continue its mission of salvation of the fallen world.Practicaly until today there haven’t appeared objectiv scientific works concerning begining and evolution of the byzantine monarchy. In Serbia, in the aftermath of 5 October 2000, the process of desecularization, including the revitalization of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), overlapped with the democratization of its political institutions, as well as with the political and social pluralism. The desecularization of the Serbian society had already started in the socialist Yugoslavia, but the process itself intensified in the early period of political pluralism and establishment of the democratic political institutions. Is Orthodoxy compatible with democracy, viewed not only as the will of the majority or an election procedure, but also as a political culture of pluralism and rule of law? Is Orthodoxy possible as a “civic” church, in line with the European political tradition of democracy and pluralism? The author contends that the contemporary Orthodoxy, including the SOC, accepts globalization in its technical, technological and economic sense, with a parallel tendency towards cultural fragmentation. Thus one needs a consensus between the SOC, state and society in Serbia concerning the basic values, such as: democracy, civil society, pluralistic discourse, secular tolerance and individual human rights. In Serbia, in the aftermath of 5 October 2000, the process of desecularization, including the revitalization of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), overlapped with the democratization of its political institutions, as well as with the political and social pluralism. The aim of this paper, is to try to use feminist and gender theories to read Slavic cultural material, as well as to complete the picture of diversity of Slavic gender orders. For this purpose, the paper focuses on biographies written by Renáta Tyršová devoted to her father and husband. The analysis of this case requires using the feminist criticism of autobiography theory, which is hardly theoretically absorbed within Slavistics. Article seeks to explore the complexities of the relationship between female individual autobiographical “self”, structure of female gender in the bourgeois society of the 19th century, and finally collective idea of nationalism. The aim of this paper, is to try to use feminist and gender theories to read Slavic cultural material, as well as to complete the picture of diversity of Slavic gender orders. The paper portrays the Macedonian folk Christianity, existing outside the official Church. Systematic scientific researches, also conducted nowadays, have shown that this phenomenon is not only still alive, but it is even growing – especially after 1989, when the Church in Macedonia started to recover. In the mainstream of popular Christianity, the Marian tradition is represented most strongly. Macedonians believe that the Mother of God since time immemorial until today has been personally involved in the construction of their church – as well in the spiritual as in the material meaning. An example could be the village Nowaci from Bitolszczyzna. Its population is convinced, that the church and monastery in the village were built on the order of Mary and according to her architectural project. The middleman between the Mother of God and the builders was supposed to be local clairvoyant Menka, called in a supernatural way to serve God.The paper portrays the Macedonian folk Christianity, existing outside the official Church. The article sums up the anti-gender campaign of 2013–2014 launched in Poland by the Catholic Church and right-wing politicians. The situation is presented with reference to the Croatian „Witches from Rio” case of 1992–1993 in order to demonstrate similarities of the two backlash discourses, both in the choice of rhetorics and topics (e.g. international conspiracy, deviated sexuality, national treason, violation of the natural social order). Finally, the author attempts to diagnose the impact that the campaign has had so far on various gender-focused projects (both in research and teaching) conducted in and outside academia in Poland
