Get PDFThis contribution examines a few passages from the entry for Comédie, by M. de Marmontel, in Diderot’s and D’Alembert’s Encyclopédie (1753). It is based on the neoclassical notion of comedy, a combination of Aristotle and some other writings on comedy, of both Roman and Renaissance origin. Marmontel’s essay, however, also shows how this notion starts to weaken and change into something else, particularly because of the desire to rescue comedy from its relative disrepute. I will try to analyse the components of this notion of comedy, their origin, and their later transformations.Aquesta contribució repassarà uns passatges de l’article Comédie, de M. de Marmontel, a l’Encyclopédie de Diderot i D’Alembert (1753). Get PDFBased on the arrangement of primitive citations in Semitic and Latin sources, the belief that Arab texts preserve the “genuine” form of the place name Segorbe is discarded; along with the belief that the sign ? b?’<b> of the aliphate in the Arabic texts that write <Šuburb> disproves a Christian–Latin origin. A few Arabic nisba spellings collected in the Llibre del Repartiment would suffice to support this claim, as well as a mention of the Cantar del Cid. But there are still more examples of the transmission of non–Arabic place–names in Arab sources, suggesting a clear change of perspective when establishing the etymological affiliation of the word.Partiendo de la ordenación de las citas primitivas en fuentes semíticas y latinas, se desmiente la creencia de que son las fuentes árabes las que conservan la forma “genuina” del topónimo Segorbe; y la de que el signo ? b?’ <b> del alifato en los textos árabes que escriben <Šuburb> descarta todo testimonio de origen cristiano–latino. Bastaría con unas pocas grafías de nisba árabe recolectadas en el Llibre del Repartiment; e incluso con una mención del Cantar del Cid. Pero son aun más las relacionadas con la transmisión de topónimos no árabes por fuentes árabes, lo que constituye un claro cambio de perspectiva a la hora de establecer la filiación etimológica de la palabra
