Językoznawca jako badacz mediów (zarys problematyki)
The author presents the proceedings used by the linguists involved in the media research highlights dominant approaches, distinguishes two hypothetical ones: hegemonic and sovereign, and discusses challenges related to both of them. Hegemonic approach in the media research means the a distinctly defined subject of the study, that is the language of the media, precisely defined subject of analysis, namely the language of the media, and a supremacy of linguistic methods used in the analysis. The linguist as a sovereign prefers an open attitude towards methods applied in the study. Such an approach considers achievements of the media scholarshop as well as other related scientific disciplines. This attitude in the media research means that the linguist analyzes an image of the world in the media, a stylistic differentiation of the media communication, media genres, and the discourse. Furthermore, the linguist as a sovereign claims creating a new linguistic discipline and widens the research field with contrastive issues
Operowanie językiem w poszukiwaniu sensu oryginału
This article is about the translation as a process which changes the way of thinking in the other language, the one in which we translate. In order to make that text understandable for readers, the translator needs to make some changes in the original text, i.e. to manipulate with the language, so that the translation will transfer the same meaning and sense of the original one. Paraphrase is one of the strategies that is presented in this work. This article is about the translation as a process which changes the way of thinking in the other language, the one in which we translate. Język przedstawiony, czyli świat współczesnej prozy
The article is dealing with the place taken by language reflection in modern literary theory. Poststructural breakthrough in the Humanities had become a period of opening up to new inspiration, and most of all to “language learning”. Much more important than the direct impact of the deconstruction was a change of consciousness: hereby the structuralist paradigm as the dominant way of talking about literature became exhausted. One academic discourse was replaced by the multitude of languages , and the multiplicity of rhetoric. The certainty of interpretation was replaced by interpretative doubts. That distrust embraced everything: not only the methodology, but the literature itself. A literary work ceased to be an objective structure, and its meaning a function of order. In this situation of discipline language, as art material, becomes the object of special attention of authors and researchers. The significance of language experiments is present in modern Polish prose, especially in prose by Wiesław Myśliwski
O kilku typach innowacji frazeologicznych w powieści McDusia Małgorzaty Musierowicz
The aim of this thesis is the analysis and interpretation of selected phraseological innovations in the Małgorzata Musierowicz’s novel McDusia. The author elaborates on extended supplementary innovation and mixed paraphrasing and innovation of collocations, which are combined into two idioms. Analysis and interpretation of the selected types of phraseological innovations in the Małgorzata Musierowicz’s novel McDusia lead to the following conclusion: both are justified in terms of situation. The purpose of phraseological innovations is to make narration more expressive and stress the anthropocentric point of view. Phraseological innovations individualize the characters’ utterances and make featured situations more imaginable. Their role is stylisation, what means that the most often they recall paterns of Polish colloquial language not including swear words. The aim of this thesis is the analysis and interpretation of selected phraseological innovations in the Małgorzata Musierowicz’s novel McDusia. Problemy z granicami wypowiedzeń w polszczyźnie mówionej – uwagi wstępne
The article discusses the problems associated with segmented into separate sentences the stream of spoken language. There are both: theoretical problems (what is utterance?, what are its boundaries?, what are the theoretical proposals for the segmentation of utterances?), and practical problems (where is the real border between the two utterances in spoken language?, what criteria of segmentation stream of spoken language can be used?). The language material – which is the basis for the research presented in this article – comes from twenty task-oriented dialogue sessions with the participation of forty speakers performing a specific task. As a result of the analysis, based on available positions and theoretical reflection I managed to develop a tool for syntactical segmentation of the stream of spoken language. This tool can be presented in the form of a new (innovative) concept of definition of the utterance. The article discusses the problems associated with segmented into separate sentences the stream of spoken language. Ha(e)ndlowe pasaże. Reklama kultury versus kultura w reklamie
In the essay “Ha(e)ndels passages” the slogans of the Poznań Philharmonic were analyzed. The research had two aims. The first goal was to verify whether the advertisings texts, inducing people to the participation in musical events, really differ from the typical commercial advertising. The second aim consisted in the examination if the language of the slogan determines its autonomy and peculiarity. The review of slogans proved that their authors use various communication and language games. Slogans of the Poznań Philharmonic are inventive and intriguing. Cultural organizations are obliged to pay attention to the language of advertisings texts. In promotional campaigns they must not go beyond standards and descend into the level of pop culture. In the essay “Ha(e)ndels passages” the slogans of the Poznań Philharmonic were analyzed. Indonezyjskie i polskie idiomy – w poszukiwaniu ekwiwalentów tłumaczeniowych
This paper focuses on Indonesian and Polish idioms analysed from an inter-lingual standpoint, with particular emphasis on their image components. The research material comes from general and specialized (phraseological) dictionaries of both languages. The objective is to assign Polish translation equivalents to selected Indonesian idioms. As no text corpora or translation series are available for Indonesian and Polish, the investigation is limited to systemic (lexicological) equivalence. The analysis of the Polish equivalents of Indonesian idioms covers stable set phrases which carry the same image, idioms which carry an analogous image, and idioms with identical meaning which carry a different image. Also considered are false equivalents (pseudo-equivalents).This paper focuses on Indonesian and Polish idioms analysed from an inter-lingual standpoint, with particular emphasis on their image components. Z opisu wyrażeń modalnych w Kodeksie prawa kanonicznego
The text is about modality from a linguistic point of view. The author takes a broad understanding of a modal category (modality indentified with communicative intention) and analyses the so called basic modal units: verbs and predicates, which together with an infinitive create a verbal construction. She examines a function of the mentioned expressions in the Code of Canon Law. Willing to accept a specific character of contexts with modal expressions, she includes in the description conclusions coming from earlier study of newspaper texts, homilies and speeches of John Paul II.The text is about modality from a linguistic point of view.
