The aim of this study is to present the cultural model of disability and its consequences for contemporary special education. It began by presenting three models of disability – medical, social and cultural. Next, the four main assumptions constituting the theoretical framework of the cultural model of disability were characterized: (1) cultures differ in their views on the human body; (2) people perceive reality through the prism of their culture and experiences acquired in it; (3) disability may have different meanings depending on what kind of discourse  onstitutes its meaning; (4) the current epistemological perspective in the approach to the problem of disability should be reversed. The second part of the paper discusses the most important implications of the cultural model of disability for the theory and practice of special education. The aim of this study is to present the cultural model of disability and its consequences for contemporary special education. The aim of this article was to explore the experiences of women with endometriosis, identify their needs, and assess their perception of how these needs are being met, particularly in the context of institutional support. The study utilized a biographical method and a narrative-biographical technique, enabling an in-depth understanding of the participants’ individual experiences. The research sample consisted of 23 women aged 22 to 33 years, residing in both large cities and smaller localities, all diagnosed with endometriosis. The findings revealed that the most significant challenges faced by women with endometriosis include a prolonged diagnostic process, limited access to qualified specialists, and the lack of reimbursement for supportive therapies such as psychotherapy, physiotherapy, and diet therapy. Participants also expressed a need for greater emotional and social support to reduce feelings of isolation and stigmatization. Support groups and non-governmental organizations emerged as critical sources of assistance, bridging gaps in the public healthcare system. Recommendations derived from the study emphasize the need to develop the healthcare system by increasing the number of specialists, reducing waiting times for consultations, and introducing reimbursement for supportive therapies. Additionally, non-governmental organizations should intensify their educational and supportive activities, and social campaigns should focus on destigmatizing endometriosis. The aim of this article was to explore the experiences of women with endometriosis, identify their needs, and assess their perception of how these needs are being met, particularly in the context of institutional support. The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between coping styles with stress and the level of social competence in a group of psychiatric nurses. The research was conducted on a group of 100 psychiatric nurses working in the Lodz Voivodeship. The study used a sociodemographic survey, Social Competence Questionnaire (SCQ), and Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS).The group of psychiatric nurses obtained the highest average for the task-oriented style and the lowest for the emotional style. The differences between the average coping styles with stress did not reach statistical significance, therefore the dominant coping style with stress cannot be determined. For all three styles, the results in the studied cohort were at an average level. In the examined population, social competences related to effective behavior in social exposure situations were at the highest level, and for effective functioning in intimate situations, they were at the lowest level. The qualitative results of all the studied social competences  corresponded to a low level. The analyses did not confirm the existence of a relationship between coping style with occupational stress and social competences. The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between coping styles with stress and the level of social competence in a group of psychiatric nurses. No full text
A massive expansion of education – notably tertiary – has been one of the defining features of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. In parallel, a phenomenon of overeducation emerged as part of employees have been working in jobs below their educational attainment. Current overeducation literature lacks a clear articulation of different contexts that the mismatch is discussed in. Traditionally, the debate about the mismatch has been dominated by the human capital view and focused on its incidence and wage penalty. Acknowledging a broader vision of education and its role, this paper shifts the attention to research directions other than the two fundamental issues. Building on a systematic review of 2011–2021 literature, 11 research lines of overeducation research in Europe were identified and discussed. Results reveal that the 2011–2021 research was focused mainly on migration, persistence, and job satisfaction out of the 11 themes. New research lines were identified and major methodological contributions to existing ones were noted such as using capabilities approach as theoretical framework to assess the interplay between overeducation and well-being. The review also highlights that individual characteristic and a broadly understood environment of the individual impact the risk of entering the mismatch and its consequences. The review provides a fresh perspective on overeducation, emphasizing its complexity and capturing nuances.A massive expansion of education – notably tertiary – has been one of the defining features of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The concept of identity refers to the relatively permanent identification of an individual, and in the context of mental well-being, this self-definition may undergo significant changes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote learning was ordered and social contacts were limited, which caused emotional distress, symptoms of anxiety and depression, and a sense of loneliness and depression among young people. These phenomena have been reported independently in different parts of the world, although the research conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic differs in its assumptions and methodology. The aim of the paper is a comparative analysis of selected research on the mental health of young people during the pandemic. The assumption of this analysis is that young people experienced a breakdown in their mental well-being during an important period of building their identity. Membership in peer groups is most fully manifested in participation in real events, and during the pandemic, managed isolation was a threat to the construction of individual and social identity. The study proves that during the period that the rates of depression increased among teenagers, especially among young women. This corresponds to higher use of social media than ever before. The concept of identity refers to the relatively permanent identification of an individual, and in the context of mental well-being, this self-definition may undergo significant changes. Teachers are a professional group with elevated stress levels. Moreover, in recent years they have faced the challenge of adapting to conditions caused by global crises. A training program “Well-being at School” aimed at supporting teachers’ resilience has been developed. The program includes a range of support methods based on various approaches (multi-theoretical framework), including positive psychology, poly-vagal theory and mindfulness. The paper presents the main principles of the program, followed by the results of a study aimed at verifying its effectiveness. 48 teachers participated in the study, 28 of whom ac-tively participated in the program, while 20 constituted the comparison group. The respondents complet-ed a questionnaire containing the CD-RISC resilience scale and additional questions related to well-being twice, five months apart. Analyses showed no significant increase in participants’ levels of psychological resilience, while they did show changes in attitudes related to caring for well-being. The results provide conclusions that are valuable from the perspective of designing interventions to support mental health.Teachers are a professional group with elevated stress levels.
