Automatic Diachronic Normalization of Polish Texts
Get PDFThe paper presents a method for the automatic diachronic normalization of Polish texts – the procedure, which, for a given historical text, returns its contemporary spelling. The method applies finite-state transducers, defined in a sublanguage of the Thrax formalism. Odwołanie do fonologii w procesie dzielenia na sylaby wyrazów ortograficznych języka polskiego
Get PDFW artykule omówiono wybrane zagadnienia związane z procesem automatycznego dzielenia na sylaby tekstów ortograficznych w języku polskim. Przy projektowaniu systemu sylabifikującego uwzględniono kilka istotnych czynników: zasady fonologiczne,odczucia subiektywne, strukturęmorfologiczna wyrazów. Zasady fonologiczne – przede wszystkim zasada sonorności – odnosi się do fonetycznej definicji sylaby. W niniejszej publikacji skoncentrowano się na aspektach działania systemu związanych z odwoływaniem się do zasad fonologicznych. Te zasady odnoszą się do wewnątrzwyrazowych grup spółgłoskowych, które są wyznaczane na podstawie informacji o lokalizacji liter odpowiadających ośrodkom sylab. To zadanie jest nieco utrudnione faktem, że w języku polskim niektóre litery, które zazwyczaj oznaczają samogłoski, w określonym kontekście oznaczają spółgłoski. W artykule omówiono również metodę przesłaniania podziału wynikającego z fonologii. Można stosować reguły które odnoszą się do odczucia subiektywnego i podział z niego wynikający różni się od podziału wynikającego z fonologii.W artykule omówiono wybrane zagadnienia związane z procesem automatycznego dzielenia na sylaby tekstów ortograficznych w języku polskim. Przy projektowaniu systemu sylabifikującego uwzględniono kilka istotnych czynników: zasady fonologiczne,odczucia subiektywne, strukturęmorfologiczna wyrazów. Zasady fonologiczne – przede wszystkim zasada sonorności – odnosi się do fonetycznej definicji sylaby. Agresja werbalna w komentarzach internetowych
Get PDFThe steadily growing popularity of the Internet leads to many new social phenomena including verbal aggression on the Internet called cyberbulling or flaming. This study aims to describe verbal aggression in the comments on the polish Internet. Such comments on various subjects and from websites with different levels of anonymity were analysed. Zapis aleatoryzmu kontrolowanego jako instrukcja działania dla wykonawców na wybranych przykładach kompozycji Witolda Lutosławskiego.
Get PDFThe goal of the article is to present the transcription system in Witold Lutosławski’s pieces composed using the technique of controlled aleatorism as a formal language for the transmission of instructions to the conductor and orchestra musicians performing those works. The starting point for my ruminations is to explore controlled aleatorism from the performer’s perspective.The text invokes excerpts from three pieces by Witold Lutosławski: Cello concerto, Chain I, and Piano Concerto. The author presents an account of the controlled aleatorism technique and analyzes the graphic signs used in the aforementioned compositions, along with the ways in which they are interpreted by performers. The author contends that the examined transcriptions are a collection of instructions of varying degrees of complexity, addressed to musicians performing the analyzed pieces. Such a system of notation can be interpreted as a formal language which the composer programmed the work of the conductor and orchestra musicians. Beginning with the simplest instructions, he proceeded to create complex, algorithmic commands.The conclusions drawn from the above analyses point to the essence of controlled aleatorism in music notation and its interpretations. The element of control overrides the element of randomness, and such a state of affairs is attained by using a particular type of transcription

Get PDFAn individual approach to abortion is based on a perspective which is determined by a combination of personal knowledge and life values. The aim of this paper is to provide empirical analysis of lexical differences between two discussion groups representing opposing views regarding the acceptability of abortion. Our aim to show how lexical choices made by the speakers in the two groups correspond to the divergent worldviews represented in those groups. Material for the study was collected on Facebook and analysed using methods of statistical machine learning with lexical feature sets (i.e. bag-of-words and n-gram). Additional analysis for keywords in both groups was also conducted.Celem niniejszego artykułu jest empiryczne ustalenie różnic leksykalnych w grupach dyskusyjnych reprezentujących odmienne postawy względem aborcji. Chcemy pokazać, w jaki sposób grupy te stosują odmienny opis świata, poprzez wybór odmiennego słownictwa. Materiał został zebrany w grupach dyskusyjnych na portalu społecznościowym Facebook, a analiza została przeprowadzona metodami statystycznymi w postaci uczenia maszynowego z wykorzystaniem klasyfikatorów bazujących na zestawach cech “bag of words” oraz “n-gram”. The main focus for research are the drinking and mountain songs, a part of Sui’s abundant oral literature, most commonly used during traditional festivities and social gatherings. The paper starts with the presentation of the state of current research and the description of Sui language and music. What follows is analysis of four Sui songs and conclusions. The methodology of the article is mostly based upon previous accomplishments, in eg. Cechy systemów fonologicznych muzyki i mowy z perspektywy ewolucyjnej
Get PDFThis article presents the phonological systems of music and speech as two different Humboldt systems which evolved for different reasons. The mental and the intersubjective characteristics of both systems are presented, including the relations between music and speech and the respective conceptual mental representations. The main aim of this paper is to suggest that the phonological system of music evolved earlier than articulated speech. As a result, the phonological system of speech emerged as a connection between two existing mental mechanisms, one that enabled our ancestors to use the Humboldt system in the domain of vocal communication and another which allowed them to combine referential meaning with sound symbols.This article presents the phonological systems of music and speech as two different Humboldt systems which evolved for different reasons. It depicts its origin and the most important practices associated with it. The article is based on the BA thesis “Funerary customs in China and Taiwan: secondary burial”, written by the author under the supervision of dr.
