Obraz grzeczności na przykładzie reakcji na komplementy polskich i niemieckich studentów .
The growing interest in politeness phenomena clearly points to the importance of the issue in our life. Living with other people, one should consider other peoples’ feelings and needs in order to be polite. Politeness is inevitably reflected in language and differs cross-culturally. It is common that certain forms of behavior are acceptable and appropriate in one culture, but not successful in the other one. The aim of this article is to present the concept of politeness on the basis of how Polish and German students respond to compliments. Such knowledge promotes harmonious intercultural relations. The growing interest in politeness phenomena clearly points to the importance of the issue in our life. Sprachliches Verhalten der polnischen Germanistikstudierenden am Beispiel vom Sprechakt „Einladen“
The aim of the paper is to present the variety of speech behavior of the Polish students of German Philology performing the speech act of inviting. Inviting is a specific speech act, which demands from L2-learners not only the knowledge of the language learned, but also the knowledge of speech behavior specific for the community which uses the language for everyday communication. The awareness of this fact has an influence on the speech behavior of L2-learners, which shows itself in the quality of utterances used. The aim of the paper is to present the variety of speech behavior of the Polish students of German Philology performing the speech act of inviting. Wizerunek stereotypowego Hiszpana w społeczeństwie polskim i hiszpańskim
The article deals with the subject matter of stereotypical image of Spaniard in Polish and Spanish tradition. The question of stereotyping, which, amongst other aspects, carries the knowledge of the world and mentality that is necessary in order to fully understand the culture of a given nation, has been dealt with by me in relation to the multiculturalism. What is the stereotypical image of Spaniard? Is our positive or negative attitude towards them reflected in the terminology we use to describe the Spanish? I have tried to answer these, and other, questions based on the survey carried out amongst Polish and Spanish students. The article deals with the subject matter of stereotypical image of Spaniard in Polish and Spanish tradition. Dopełnienie zbioru rozmytego względem argumentu
In the paper the concept of complements in the fuzzy envi-ronment is presented. The complements are considered in two variants; the complement to the universum and the complement with respect to the argument. The definitions of both form of complements are given. The basic proper-ties of the complements with respect to the argument, rare-ly noted in the literature, are presented. The simple inter-pretation of the complement with respect to the argument in the modeling of linguistic variables and their antonyms has been proposed. Na jakie pytania mógłby odpowiedzieć tworzony w 2. dekadzie XXI w. model leksykalno- -derywacyjny polszczyzny XX w.?
This paper discusses a project to develop a lexico-derivational model of 20th-century Polish vocabulary. On the one hand, this model should be constructed in accordance with the Polish tradition of great lexico-derivational models such as Satkiewicz 1969, Smółkowa 1976, Jadacka 2001 and Waszakowa 2005. On the other hand, it should take into consideration new empirical material gained from the application of linguochronoligization theory (TLCH). A crucial part in the construction of the new model is played by lexical material from the first half of the 20th century, which by the end of the first decade of the 21st century was available only in very limited quantity, most of it coming from systematic, long-term extraction research carried out by Jan Wawrzyńczyk. Therefore this article describes the milestones which have led to the present state, in which it is possible to formulate a plan for the development of such a model. Moreover, the limitations and shortcomings of previous lexico-derivational models are discussed. As a result, a list of 37 questions which could be answered by the emerging model of Polish vocabulary is given. Also, selected graphs are presented to illustrate the diachronic dynamics of Polish vocabulary in the first half of the 20th century. Two Ways of Processing Language: Associative Memory and Computational Rules in the Case of Modern Polish
This paper discusses associational and computational approaches to language and cognition with a special focus on modern Polish. The authors indicate the sources for both views and try to combine these views in order to answer the underlying question of how language is processed. The analysis of Polish morphology (scil. verb inflection) has shown that such a combination is possible and scientifically valuable but still more specific research on the neuronal correlates of linguistic behaviours is needed

Język w społeczeństwie informacyjnym. Wybrane zagadnienia .
In this paper the author asks questions concerning a language: its role, place and function in the information society. Finding the answers she defines the issues by categorizing the concept of a language in relation to its users and the ICT tools used by these users. As a result they fall into three categories: 1. unintentional users, 2. intentional users and 3. pre-users; each with a set of ICT tools assigned to their group. In this paper the author asks questions concerning a language: its role, place and function in the information society. Czym jest pejzaż językowy (linguistic landscape)?
The language that is present in our environment, words and images displayed and exposed in public spaces are the interest of a relatively recent and rapidly growing study referred to as linguistic landscape (LL). The highest density of signs can be found in cities, especially in the main shopping streets and industrial areas. The study of LL can provide important insights on phenomena which occur in the cities, it can reflect language tendencies and social relations. Hence, the analysis of LL adresses the issues of multilingualism, language policy, cultural diversity and language contacts. It also strongly relates to national identity, globalisation and the spread of English. The language that is present in our environment, words and images displayed and exposed in public spaces are the interest of a relatively recent and rapidly growing study referred to as linguistic landscape (LL).
