This bachelor thesis presents the similar dynamics regarding the conflicts encircling mosques in Germany and Austria. As the political and societal conditions are too much alike in both countries to divide the conflicts nationally, their main differences have been either of a regional nature or rooted in specific developments of a community. The binding element of both German and Austrian conflicts regarding mosques has been the media’s strong influence, which has, through virulent reporting been the cause of many conflicts in the first place

The following bachelor thesis will deal with the policy of national minorities in the Soviet Republic of Georgia and its impact on the wars of secession in the early 1990s. The analysis will be framed in a center- periphery model to explain the complex struggle between the soviet authorities in Moscow and Tbilisi on the one hand, and Tbilisi and its autonomous regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on the other hand throughout the 20th century. The paper tries to examine the contemporary ethnic conflicts in Georgia though the lenses of an historical conflict-analysis to show the deeper historical roots of those frozen conflicts and the effects of the policy of nationalities in the Soviet Union on those conflicts

In this closing epoch of the Empire, the perceptions of the relationship between the Emperor and his various german-speaking peoples can be reflected exemplarily by articles published in occasion of the emperor’s birthday on August 18th; the Czernowitzer Allgemeine Zeitung and the Neue Freie Presse reveal an interesting insight to the contemporary reception of the dying Monarchy and this emperor, who seemed to stiffen in his function in order to protect the declining glow of his family’s heritage – an attitude which was laid out in heroizing as well as critical views, as this paper will show hereafter

Tyrol Castle can be referred to as a ‘Dynastenburg’, as it was the ancestral seat of power for the Counts of Tyrol. Under the rule of Meinhard II (1259–1295) the castle developed to the centre of his power and came to be the place of residence for the princely family and their court. In the year 1420 the ancestral seat was relocated to Innsbruck and thus Tyrol Castle lost its representative power and function as a residence, falling into decay as a consequence. The combination of power and representation as well as its impact on buildings structures is crucial for this analysis

Hippolyt Guarinoni is a key figure in the Tyrolean Anderl-cult. His anti Jewish attitude rooted in a deeply Catholic attitude very common in the baroque era. He created a Tyrolean marthyr’s cult („Anderl-cult“) following the concept of the Simon of Trient-legend. The Anderl-legend spread very fast. It was then connected to a child’s murder in Judenstein, near Innsbruck, for which Jews were made responsible. To commemorate the violent „ritual death“ of Anderl Guarinoni planned a church at the very spot of his death. The plan was realized after Guarinonis death in the 17th century. Pilgrimages, processions, songs, prayers, plays, etc. made the place famous far across the borders. These pilgrimages continued far into the 20th century thus keeping up a latent antisemitism in the population. The cult was forbidden in 1989 by Bishop Stecher

There is no simple method for introducing this topic best in class; therefore, an interview with Harald Walser, expert in education, combined with literary research is used to provide guidelines about how to teach this topic best.
