Even though they followed the Roman Catholic faith, both of them were categorized as „Jews“ or „Mischlinge“ and therefore had to suffer from oppression, discrimination and persecution. In this paper, these individual biographies have been contextualised with macrohistorical developments and outline the conditions for Jewish spouses in so-called „Mischehen“ in the Gau Tirol-Vorarlberg between 1939 and 1945

Get PDFThe following paper aims to examine if and how the Peasants’ War was connected with the Protestant Reformation. In order to answer this question, various models of society developed by the peasants will be analysed. The specific characteristics of the different, loosely connected rebellions, which were summarised and idealised to a united movement, the so-called Peasants’ War, by later historiography, will be pointed out through the example of four different rebellious areas.

No full textThis paper discusses types of legitimation in the Early Modern Ottoman Empire and their continuity in today’s Turkey under president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Proceeding from a theoretical examination of the concept of legitimation, this paper shows the diversity of legitimation strategies in an interdisciplinary analysis, accentuating those that Erdogan uses to consolidate his power and bring Turkey back “to former greatness”. As will be demonstrated, Erdogan utilizes particular forms, such as religious legitimation or large-scale building projects, in order to achieve legitimacy similar to that of the Ottoman rulers

By analysing the debates surrounding the controversy, it shall be investigated to what extent generationally different approaches of remembrance of National Socialism and the Holocaust emerged in the course of the discussions. Many of today\u27s problems in Nigeria are a product of historical development and can be explained in a problem-oriented perspective, starting with the beginning of the 19th century. The second part is about the Nigerian migrants who have managed to reach Europe, in this case Austria. It is assumed that we live in a post-migrant society and that for migrants, in the style of Homi Bhabha, third spaces can be opened up. Especially for asylum seekers there are few opportunities to work. One of these is the sale of street papers, which may be one of those third spaces in which integration can be facilitated. Therefore, the path of the Habsburg monarchy to this treaty and the overcoming of the crises of those years represent the central events, which are analyzed in this work
