Jurgen Habermas's views on legal validity and discourse ethics: A literature review
In modern states, law is often reduced to merely a tool of power. Many contemporary practices treat law as nothing more than a procedural requirement, disregarding its substantive values and the social conditions of society. This article discusses the validity of law within a political community from Habermas's perspective. According to him, the law must be discursive and stem from rational subjects capable of effective communication. The fundamental questions addressed are: how can law ideally be derived from norms within a political society? And how can law subsequently foster a democratic society? This article employs historical-factual methods, with primary sources drawn from the works of Jí¼rgen Habermas. Habermas used discourse ethics and the theory of communicative action. Data collection is conducted through textual analysis. The article concludes that the validity of law must originate from discursive norms present in society, even though there may be tensions between theory and practice in society
Exploring the concept of cultural divinity in supporting religious moderation in Indonesia
As a diverse nation, Indonesia often experiences clashes regarding diversity in life. The culturally embedded concept of divinity is believed to be a driving force in supporting religious moderation in Indonesia. This concept is crucial in religious pluralism in Indonesia, a country with diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. This study adopts a qualitative approach through a literature review referencing national and international journals indexed in Scopus. The research findings indicate that maintaining harmony among religious communities and religious moderation serves as a strong foundation. Culturally embedded divinity refers to understanding cultural and religious diversity, a noble heritage of the Indonesian nation. Through this understanding, it is hoped that society can appreciate differences and strengthen tolerance among religious communities. This article also explores the implementation of culturally embedded divinity in public policies, efforts to enhance interfaith dialogue in Indonesia, and the public perception of moderate attitudes. The research trend on religious moderation in Indonesia is still very low. Thus, it is concluded that a profound understanding of this concept can strengthen the foundation of religious harmony and unity amidst Indonesia's diversity
The importance of citizenship responsibility for the young generation in the conservative anti-corruption movement
The young generation plays a crucial role in combating corruption; however, their engagement is suboptimal due to insufficient ethical awareness regarding corruption issues and challenges in differentiating between corruption within governmental systems and public services. This research aims to investigate the civic responsibilities of the youth in the anti-corruption movement. The research method employed is qualitative, using an ethnographic approach. This study's findings indicate that civic responsibility manifests in two dimensions: citizen engagement and citizen participation in addressing and eliminating corruption within educational, social, legal, and religious contexts. The youth significantly contribute to the conservative anti-corruption movement by fostering and reinforcing moral, spiritual, cultural, and civic values within an environment that cultivates and shapes the attitudes and behaviours of active, creative, and innovative individuals in the battle against corruption. Consequently, it can be inferred that this conservative anti-corruption initiative aims to cultivate character and integrity among youths through extensive campaigns, promotions, counselling, and mentoring

Implementation of the “SANTRI” moral movement as an effort to realise the Pancasila student profile
Education, apart from being an effort to transform knowledge, is expected to be able to transform good values in life. Currently, various moral problems in the world of education, especially among students in schools, are increasing, ranging from simple to complex issues. Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile at school is seen as a strategic foundation to shape students with noble character aligned with the six dimensions of lifelong learners. One approach to instilling good character is through moral movements, where the method of habituation allows students to gradually apply values in their daily lives. Using a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, this study explores how such movements operate in practice. Within this framework, the SANTRI moral movement emerges as a meaningful initiative that embodies politeness, independence, and excellence values that harmonise with the essence of the Pancasila Student Profile. When embedded into the school culture, these efforts subtly but powerfully influence students’ behaviour and mindset, offering a sustainable path toward cultivating strong moral foundations in education.
The ebb and flow of the relationship between the institutional and authority of the directorate general of immigration and the directorate of general legal administration
Since the beginning of independence, the authority to handle citizenship in Indonesia has experienced dynamics closely related to the scope of duties and functions of immigration. This study analyses the institutional relationship and authority between the Directorate General of Immigration and the Directorate General of AHU in handling citizenship in Indonesia. The research method used in this article is normative legal research, or doctrinal legal research. Interview techniques support the exploration of thoughts, views, and opinions related to the research topic. The results of the study indicate that the authority to handle citizenship is always closely related to the duties and functions of immigration, so that the roles of the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (Ditjen AHU) and the Directorate General of Immigration cannot be separated, even though they are administratively separate. However, the institutional relationship between these two institutions continues to face challenges, including weak coordination, overlapping authority, and inefficiencies exacerbated by their placement under different ministries. These issues have led to low operational effectiveness, poor oversight, and unsatisfactory public service delivery, as evidenced by numerous complaints about procedural clarity and fairness. Addressing these challenges requires strong leadership commitment to foster synergy and minimise sectoral interests, with regulatory reform a crucial step toward integrating administrative and field oversight functions for more efficient, accountable, and citizen-oriented management of civic affairs
