This research paper critically analyses the historical relevance and potential of inquisitorial trials to reconstruct social biographies of Judeo-Converts in the kingdom of Aragon during the reign of Ferdinand II (1484-1515). The study proposes several methodologies to achieve this goal, including microhistory and social biography, gender, intersectionality, and sisterhood, as well as hypertext and constructivism. After a historiographical review of the limitations, particularly those relating to representation, mediation, legality and textual fidelity, the potential of this type of documentation is discussed. Therefore, the adherence to traditional practices, ceremonies, and rituals; the sociological beliefs, and anthropological identities of diverse generations; the inclusion of women's perspectives in confessions and interrogations, as well as the reconstruction of their connections and relationships through witness testimonies, and the revelation of life stories within the context of the history of mentalities. All of these arguments offer a complex insight into the microcosm of women who were persecuted by the Holy Office

Reality is multiple and each of its interpretations requires a graphic style. The objective of the practice presented is to investigate learning processes in the university environment of graphic expression. Based on a self-learning methodology, the research explores the possibilities of “defamiliarization” and “prohibition” as teaching strategies that enhance creative processes. Through a reinterpretation of the surrealist method of the “cadavre exquis” style exercises are triggered in which the student must choose between the multiple forks offered by the graphic discipline. The approach of a horizontal and transdisciplinary teaching proposal yields positive results both on an individual level and in group dynamics. The individual results allow us to glimpse a substantial improvement in the students' grades, increasing the average level, considerably decreasing the number of failures and increasing the excellent grades. The exercise has allowed to balance the different learning phases, which in graphic subjects are usually highly unbalanced. Finally, the article considers the replicability of the methodology tested in other contexts

This teaching innovation project is part of one of the main strategic initiatives at USJ: the integration of content and language in learning. It establishes collaboration between the subjects of Cell Biology and English in the Biomedicine degree program, which prepares students for scientific and/or research careers. Therefore, it is essential that they understand the subject matter and acquire the skills to communicate results and engage with the broader research community. English is the primary language used for these purposes, both in scientific articles and in oral communications at conferences. Our project combines Cell Biology content, which is studied through scientific literature, focusing on the effective communication of the results and the acquired knowledge in English. To achieve this, we have implemented various activities and workshops where students build their learning while assessing their progress. Get PDF
Introduction: Cerebral palsy is the most common cause of disability in childhood. It affects motor and sensory function, requiring a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and rehabilitation. Conventional treatments include treatment in part with physiotherapists. In recent years, virtual reality has gained attention as a potentially beneficial tool. Numerous studies and reviews exist; this umbrella review proposes to review the available literature on the effectiveness of virtual reality as a tool for children having cerebral palsy. Objective: To determine the level of evidence and the methodological quality of systematic reviews that evaluated the efficacy of virtual reality in children with cerebral palsy. Methodology: Systematic reviews and/or meta-analysis were included after a search of the PubMEd, WOS and PEDro databases. Inclusion criteria were: reviews that included only minor patients with cerebral palsy, virtual reality intervention and assessment of functionality and/or mood. Risk of bias was assessed using the AMSTAR-2 scale and the reviews with the best score were saved. Results: Out of 248 articles, 7 systematic reviews were included. The following topics emerged: upper limb functionality, balance, gait, gross motor skills and motivation. It was established that virtual reality is a good complementary tool to improve balance, gait and motor skills. Conclusion: Virtual reality is an effective tool if one wants to improve balance, gait or gross motor skills. It is no more effective than conventional therapy in improving upper limb function. The evidence was limited with a lack of good quality reviews. It can be recommended as a complementary therapy and is a source of motivation for children

Cardiel-Sánchez, S, Rubio-Peirotén, A, Molina-Molina, A, García-Cebadera Gómez, C, Almenar-Arasanz, A, Ráfales-Perucha, A, Roche-Seruendo, LE, and Cartón-Llorente, A. Effects of plyometric training on running biomechanics and jumping ability of U14 athletes. J Strength Cond Res 38(11): e656–e663, 2024—Children under the age of 14 years (U14) are particularly susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders because of growth spurts. Plyometric training has been shown to be beneficial for both injury reduction and performance enhancement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of plyometric training on the jumping ability and running biomechanics of U14 track-and-field athletes. A single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted. Thirty-five (18 female and 17 male) U14 athletes (age: 12.5 ± 1.2 years; height: 152.3 ± 7.7 cm; body mass: 47.3 ± 6.9 kg) were randomized into experimental and control groups. All subjects completed their usual training for 4 weeks, and those in the intervention group added a low-volume plyometric program twice a week. Preintervention and postintervention assessments included a countermovement jump (CMJ) to determine maximum jump height, 10-second repeated jumps to assess reactive strength index (RSI), and a 3-minute run at 12 km·h−1 to analyze running kinematics contact time, flight time, step length (SL), step frequency (SF), mean power output, vertical spring stiffness, and leg spring stiffness (LSS). The results revealed no main effect of time for any of the variables. A group-by-time interaction was found for RSI (p = 0.045) in the intervention group, whereas a significant increase in LSS was also found after the intervention (p = 0.031). However, no changes in CMJ height or other running parameters were observed. The significance level for the study was set at ρ ≤ 0.05. Plyometric-jump training may improve the stretch-shortening cycle in U14 athletes by increasing RSI and LSS. Athletes and coaches in running-related sports should be aware of these short-term effects when aiming to optimize the energy storage and release mechanism. This study received financial funding from the Universidad San Jorge, Zaragoza, Spai

This article presents the development and implementation of a method for organizing collaborative work in engineering courses. The method aims to maximize participation and learning in group activities by leveraging the individual strengths of each team member. Four behavioral roles - leader, collaborator, reflective, and creative - are defined and assigned to each student through a straightforward questionnaire consisting of 40 questions, utilizing Microsoft Forms. Differences in the predominant role percentages have been observed based on the course and educational level where this methodology is applied. More technically oriented programs tend to have a higher proportion of leaders, while as students’ progress in their studies, the proportions tend to equalize. Notably, this methodology has received positive feedback from students and has yielded superior academic outcomes compared to previous group activities with randomly formed groups

Environmentalism, bucolism and dissidence. Ecodystopian iconologies in the film production of the 70s

    No full text
Throughout the 1960s, society began to become aware of the effects of pollution and the depletion of the planet’s resources, leading to the emergence of the environmental movement. The environmental demands were taken up by the film industry, heavily influenced by counter-cultural thinking, and constituted an extension of the scientific and academic debate. The film productions told the story of the generational rejection of urban society and its technological derivations, establishing a new environmental imaginary through ecodystopian proposals. This article, through an analytical methodology and an allegorical approach, delves into the films No Blade of Grass (Wilde, 1970) and Silent Running (Trumbull, 1972) as representative case studies of the cultural positions adopted confronting, through urban dissidence and bucolic artificial bucolism, the end of the urban.

Abstract: Background:Research into key performance factors in trail running, particularly in verticalkilometer (VK) races, is crucial for effective training and periodization. However, recent studies onmetabolic and cardiorespiratory responses during VK races, especially using field tests, are limited. Objectives:Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the metabolic and cardiorespiratoryresponses during a VK field test, identifying differences based on sex and performance level, aswell as key performance factors and their deterioration due to fatigue. Fifteen trained trail runners(ten males and five females, 19 to 38 years old) perform a VK race. Methods:The global physiologicalresponse is evaluated using the portable gas analyzer Cosmed K5 and the local response usingnear-infrared spectroscopy technology. Results: In gender comparisons, the ANCOVA test showssignificant differences (p< 0.05) in the ventilation, tidal volume, expiratory time-to-inspiratorytime ratio, inspiratory flow rate, end-tidal CO2partial pressure, heart rate, oxygen pulse, and totalhemoglobin. Additionally, the performance comparison reveals significant differences in the variables’velocity, oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, ventilation, dead space-to-tidal volumeratio, total time of the breathing cycle, expiratory time-to-inspiratory time ratio, inspiratory dutycycle, expiratory fractions of CO2, quadriceps saturation index, and VE/VCO2ratio. Finally, thecorrelation analysis shows oxygen consumption (r =−0.80 mean; r =−0.72 peak), carbon dioxideproduction (r =−0.91 mean; r =−0.75 peak), expiratory time-to-inspiratory time ratio (r = 0.68 peak),ventilation (r =−0.58 mean), and quadriceps saturation index (r = 0.54 mean; r =−0.76 coefficient ofvariation) as the key performance factors in the VK race. Conclusions:Overall, the physiologicalanalysis indicates the importance of local muscular adaptations and respiratory system capacity inthis type of short-duration race

    Agroalimentación, Sostenibilidad Y Periodismo

    No full text
