Exchange Rate and Manufacturing Sector Performance in Nigeria
This study examined the impact of exchange rates on the performance of the manufacturing sector in Nigeria between 1990 and 2020. Using canonical cointegrating regression (CCR) framework, the result obtained showed that exchange rate devaluation constrains manufacturing sector while exchange rate fluctuation hampers manufacturing output. The study indicated that price increase leads to decline in the manufacturing sector, the study recommends among other things the need to formulate policies that align with the exchange rate to the actual needs of the manufacturing sector. The study further suggests that change in exchange rate management strategy should be allowed to run a reasonable course of time. Jettisoning strategies at will and on frequent basis has implication for exchange rate and obvious consequence for a sector that depends on foreign inputs
Motivation as a Catalyst for Employee\u27s Productivity in Delta State Ministry of Health, Asaba Nigeria.
Motivation has become a source of increased output in recent times in the workplace. The main aim of this study is to examine motivational factors affecting the employees’ productivity in Delta State Ministry of Health, Asaba-Nigeria. This study employed a cross-sectional data with a sample of 234 respondents from ministry of health Asaba, concerning their high level of productivity which was achieved through motivation from Government in terms of better salary and regular promotions. The result from the Chi-Square analysis indicates that motivation through increased special salary payment and regular promotions from the state government, do enhance productivity. It was therefore recommended that state Government must continue in that fashion so that such high level of success would maintained
Effect of Relationship Marketing on Customer Satisfaction of Deposit Money Banks in Zaria- Nigeria
Drawing on relationship marketing theory as one-dimensional construct, this study analyzes the direct relationships amongst communication, empathy, price, personalization and service quality on customer satisfaction. The current onslaught of the customer’s dissatisfaction and severe competition among banks and on business has become a matter of concern in recent times. It is to this end that the study investigates the effect of relationship marketing practice on customer satisfaction in selected Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Zaria-Nigeria. A descriptive quantitative research technique is employed. A random sample of 200 customers of seven deposit money banks operating in Zaria were used as the source of data. A cross-sectional survey using a structured questionnaire was employed to gather data from customers of selected Banks. The findings revealed that relationship marketing had a direct and significant effect on customer satisfaction. This connotes that a better relationship with customers in the banking industry will yield positive result on customer satisfaction and loyalty, vice versa. It can therefore be concluded that relationship marketing has significant impact on customer satisfaction. The study recommends that bank managers to capture needs and expectations of customers through planning and designing strategies, should create continuous long-term relationships that recognizes the differences in the individual customer value orientation
Covid-19 Pandemic and Financial Inclusion in Nigeria
COVID-19 pandemic which started in China in 2019 and quickly spread to almost all countries wreaking havoc on their economies, no doubt, would have affected financial inclusion in Nigeria. The study employed Event Study methodology developed by Dolly (1933) and applying t-test of paired significant mean differences on monthly total, of active banks accounts five months before and five months into the emergence of the pandemic in Nigeria extracted from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to assess the impact. Findings revealed that the pandemic exerted a positive impact on financial inclusion in Nigeria. Based on the finding, it was recommended that the financial inclusion experience garnered during the lockdown and social distancing under the pandemic and sequent COVID-19 Relief Loans payment by the government to the vulnerable poor people be empirically studied and the outcomes be incorporated into policies by the Nigeria financial Inclusion Strategies Committee and CBN so as to stimulate rapidly financial inclusion in Nigeria
QUALITY WATER AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE OF WATER BORNE DISEASES: A STUDY OF IBRAHIM BADAMASI BABANGIDA UNIVERSITY LAPAI WATER SUPPLY
Water is integral component of life essential for human survival it\u27s also borne some diseases, WHO, UNICEF reports have ascertained poor water access is associated with many water illness, food in security, lost productivity and poor school attendance especially for women and girls. The rapid urbanization and agricultural domestic needs of water supply in African Sub Sahara. In Nigeria most state, organizations and institutions could not meet up with provision of sanity quality portable water. The United Nation universal human right declaration of access to clean portable water remains unattainable to most State in Nigeria. The study is carry out in Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai main campus to certain the access of quality water school supply to its users and especially the student, households and the relation to common ailment the study adopted a qualitative laboratory water analysis of the school bore hole the major source of water in the main campus in sample A (water drills from the ground) sample B (water from the Tank after drilling) and sample C (water collected from Tap ready for use) structured key informant interview was administer on the Director personal and planning , and the director school clinic. The findings reveals that the sample of water collected are unfit for human consumption , Borehole the major source of water supply have not been adequately flush to maintain the water quality to meet up the required standard, the connection between student common ailment and the water in uses. The study recommends the provision of an independent water treatment plan source, water treatment, and regular flushing of bore hole to meet the required standard water quality
E-GOVERNANCE AND CALL FOR ORGANIZATIONAL EFFICIENCY IN NIGER STATE
This paper examines the role of e-governance in achieving organizational efficiency in Niger State. The objective is to show the relevance of e-governance to the realization of organizational efficiency. The paper is anchored on technological determinism theory by Thorsten Veblen (2016) as a framework for analysis. The documentary approach is used by researchers through the use of related literatures on E-governance and organizational efficiency in order to enhance effective service delivery in public organizations. Thus, E- governance is all about ensuring transparency, accountability, minimize cost, reduce bureaucratic tendencies, and reduce corruption in a bit to establish sanity in the system of governance, however, organizational efficiency entails using little resources as an input in achieving maximum output. Hence, this study looks at E- governance and organizational efficiency through the instrumentality of ensuring transparent operational activities, accountability, effective and efficient service delivery, reduction of corruption, and deploying electronically gadget in curbing the menace of sharp practices in organization. The paper concludes and recommends the following as impetus for effective and efficient service delivery through the use of ICT, by providing adequate fund to facilitate the operation of public offices, organizing of capacity building to boast the competencies of personnel in an organization, constant enlightenment by the government on the importance of e-governance to the general public in order for citizens to key in the governance
AGRONOMIC EVALUATION OF MAIZE VARIETIES FOR YIELD AND INCOME GENERATION AMONG FARMERS IN LAPAI, NIGER STATE, NIGERIA
The study was conducted in Lapai, Niger State, North central Nigeria to determine the performance and profitability of Local and improved Striga tolerant (SAMMAZ 17) maize varieties in cooperative farmers field. Demonstration plots were cited in 3 cooperative farms where the improved variety and a local variety were planted. All agronomic practices were carried out uniformly and simultaneously on the plots. In addition structured questionnaire were administered on 20 members each of the cooperative societies selected using simple random sampling technique to solicit information on the performance of the maize varieties on their farms. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the socio-economic characteristics of the farmers. t - test analysis was used to compare the performance of maize varieties in terms of growth parameters, yield and yield components, while Gross margin analysis was used to compare the profitability of maize varieties. The results revealed that maize farmers were male, small-scaled in operations. The local maize variety supported high Striga infestation with low yield of 1.7 t/ha, while SAMMAZ 17 yield was 4.4 t/ha under less Striga infestation. The Gross margin for the production of SAMMAZ 17 maize variety was N 254,127.40, while Gross margin for the production of farmers maize variety was N90, 133.57. Based on these findings, SAMMAZ 16 is profitable and it is therefore recommended for planting in Striga farm land in the study area
ASSESSING PERSONAL FACTORS AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIAN POLYTECHNICS
AbstractThis paper examines the inuence of personal factors as the indicators that effect bothhigh employee and organizational performance which has been the central concern oforganizations for decades. The study employed quantitative research, whereby data wasanalyzed using SPSS and PLS-SEM. Also the study used cross sectional method on 302participants from ve polytechnics in three state of North West Nigerian region. Thepaper revealed that self-esteem (SE) and perceived control (PC) had signicance andpositive inuence on the employees (lecturers) performance. However, optimism (OP) hada negative inuence on the employee performance (EP).This paper therefore recommendthat the management of polytechnics should pay more attention in hiring lecturers withhigh personal factors. And let lecturers with poor performance leave the polytechnics orconvert them to non-academics than wasting polytechnic resources to retain them.Keywords: Employee performance, Personal factors, Polytechnics
ANTI-CORRUPTION CRUSADE IN NIGERIA: THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH
Corruption is a global phenomenon. It is not an exclusive preserve of any nation or raceof the world as it transcends across national boundaries. The incidence and the magnitudeof corruption vary in human society. The Nigeria phenomenon has persisted enormouslyand manifested in various dimensions, nature and magnitude since independence in 1960and continued to be unabated despite the various anti-corruption regimes established bythe Federal Government to ght the monster in the country. It is quite sad that the return todemocratic rule in 1999 has not really address the corruption but worsening the situation.This situation in Nigeria cannot be won alone by laws or prosecutions of the perpetratorsby the federal government and its anti-corruption agencies. This paper examines roles ofthe faith-based organizations like the church on corruption. The paper relied on primaryand secondary sources of data collection. The ndings showed that when the churchemploys the spiritual warfare to complement the physical anti-corruption war of thefederal government through the activities of the anti-corruption agencies, it would go along way to halt and abate the corruption that has become a way to life in Nigeria, andresults in superlative socio-economic growth and development in the country. The studypointed it out that in the successful crusade against corruption, the church itself wouldneed to rst do a serious soul-searching purging of acts of complicity in corruption withinthe institution. It is only by this direction that the church has the power of attorney andmoral authority to create desired impact in anti-corruption crusade in Nigeria
IMPACT OF TERTIARY EDUCATION TRUST FUND INTERVENTIONS ON ACADEMIC STAFF DEVELOPMENT: A STUDY OF UMARU MUSA YAR\u27ADUA UNIVERSITY, KATSINA STATE
Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is an intervention agency established to addressthe paucity of funds for public tertiary institutions in Nigeria vis-a-vis train its academicstaff. This paper adopted quantitative method to examine the Impact of TETFundInterventions on academic staff development in Umaru Musa Yar\u27adua University Katsina(2014-2019). The study reveals that TETFund has signicantly impacted on the fewacademic staff (both foreign scholarship and local). It was further revealed that thecontribution of TETFund sponsorship for conference attendance is to a low extent.Therefore, the study recommended that TETFund should review upward the annualallocation for foreign scholarship and make the local scholarship more attractive.TETFund should also make allocations to beneciary institutions based on needsassessment, not equality.
