    EFFECT OF N-POWER PROGRAMMES ON POVERTY REDUCTION IN NIGER STATE

    One of the greatest challenges facing Nigerian economy today is poverty. the menacing of social and economic problem of poverty in Nigeria like many developing countries past governments to introduced N-power programme aimed at reducing poverty in Nigeria particularly State. The study examines the effect of N-power programmes in reducing poverty in Niger State. The study adopted a descriptive survey design with the population of 1612 beneficiaries benefited from N-power programmes. To determine the sample size, Taro Yamane formula was adopted where the study arrived at 377. The study reveals that N-power programmes enhanced socio-economic development for the fact that N-Teach, N-Health, N-Agro and N-Vaids programmes has reduces poverty in Niger State. Yhe study further reveals that skills development, increased beneficiaries\u27 income, employment generation, increased food availability amongst many others. The study however, recommends amongst other that The N-Power programmes such as N-Teach, N-Health, N-Agro and N-Vaids should be evaluated prior to implementation. An assessment would ensure an identification of the operational problems inherent in a proposed programmes and early resolution of such problems. Considering the short life span of the scheme, government should look at the possibility of engaging and absorbing outstanding beneficiaries into the civil service either at state or federal level. This will encourage hard work and enhance effective participation in the scheme

    The study was conducted to explore knowledge management system importance to information technology in an organization. Specifically, to examine the relationship of knowledge management system and information technology in an organization. This paper uses quantitative research approach with questionnaire as the primary source of data collection. To achieve this, we have used both descriptive and inferential statistics to give meaning to the data. The descriptive analysis was done using frequency, percentage and mean. While the Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient was used as the inferential statistics to evaluate the relationship between the variables. The finding from the study indicates that, knowledge management was effective management with the support of standard information technology. The study recommends that business organizations need to structure their knowledge management system within a well-developed information technology foundation

    IMPACT OF ANCHOR BORROWERS SCHEME ON SMALL HOLDER FARMERS IN CROSS RIVER STATE

    Agriculture is the life wire of majority of the people of Cross River State and Nigeria at large. It is the quick means of employment and source of livelihood for most people and households. The study adopt Marxist theory of class struggle to examine the impact of anchor borrowers scheme on small holder farmers in the state. The intervention agricultural programmes reviewed by government of Cross River state through the state Agricultural Service Training include: Agricultural Reforms of President Olusegun Obansanjo Regime, Musa Yar\u27dua Administration, Goodluck Jonathan Regime and Muhammadu Buhari Administration. Survey design was used to collect data from 350 farmers. The finding from the study reveals that there are gaps in the inventions, execution and management of the programmes. The study therefore recommend that the state agricultural training service centre (ASTC) should be revamped by funding arrangement to provide mobility, training, incentives and institutional support in line with national agricultural policies so that it will increase its services to small holder farmers to enhanced it agricultural production

    This study examines the Effect of Disciplinary Procedures and Sanctions on Civil Servants\u27 performance in selected Ministries in Niger State. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the level of awareness of disciplinary procedure, the effect of enforcement of disciplinary procedure, on civil servants\u27 performance and the challenges and way forward for improve enforcement of disciplinary procedure in Niger State civil service. A documentary research method was adopted to elicit information. The population of study was all the 18067 staff from five ministries (Niger State Ministries of Health, Education, Justice, Agric and Natural Resources and Niger State Civil Service Commission. Findings from the study showed that prudency played significant role in the apportionment of disciplinary measures and penalties against some offenders as spelt out in Public Service Rules. The conclusion is that the level of awareness on job expected conducts influences the behaviour of civil servants, sanctions have been enforced to ensure efficiency and competence, copies of regulations and code of conduct are issued to all the Civil servants once recruited, orientation and sensitization are given to civil servants on the rules and regulations in Niger State Civil Service. Among the recommendations suggested are; the Niger State Civil Service Commission should conduct orientation courses for officers nominated into the disciplinary panel to intimate them of appropriate disciplinary procedures as well as the necessity of adherence to ethics so as to save government from litigation that may result from wrong decisionstaken on erring staff

    IMPACT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HOUSING BENEFIT ON STAFF PUNCTUALITY AT THE CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU, ABUJA

    This study investigates the impact of the implementation of housing benefits on staff punctuality at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Abuja. The research explores employees\u27 perceptions of the housing benefits program and its influence on their overall commuting experiences, motivation, job satisfaction, and commitment to fulfilling duties in a timely manner. Survey research design was adopted, with a total strength of 301 staff and 172 sample size, Implementation theory was proposed by Eugene Bardach,, was adopted as the framework. Data collected through a structured survey reveals a mixed response, with a significant portion of employees expressing positive views, while notable dissenting opinions and undecided responses are observed. The findings revealed that majority of respondents attested housing benefit have significantly improved employee housing need and punctuality in the Code of Conduct Bureau, Abuja. The study recommends enhancing communication strategies, implementing targeted surveys, and conducting focus groups to address concerns and optimize the program\u27s effectiveness. These recommendations aim to foster a positive and supportive work environment, ultimately improving staff punctuality and overall employee satisfaction at the Code of Conduct Bureau

    Mediating Effect of Employee Wellbeing on the Relationship between Technological Change and Employee Performance of Manufacturing Companies in Kaduna State-Nigeria

    This study aims to determine employee wellbeing as a mediating effect on the relationship between technological change and employee performance of Manufacturing Companies in Kaduna state, Nigeria. The study is a cross-sectional study and a survey research design was employed. The sample population of this study comprised employees of 25 selected manufacturing companies in Kaduna state. Data were collected through a structured online survey questionnaire. The hypotheses tested found that technological change has effect on employee performance. Technological change significantly related to employee wellbeing. Employee wellbeing is positively and significantly related to employee performance. Employee wellbeing significantly mediates the relationship between technological change and employee performance of Manufacturing Companies in Kaduna state, Nigeria. Study shows technological change benefits employee wellbeing by empowering staff, reducing workload, enhancing job satisfaction, and balancing work and personal life, emphasizing the importance of supportive work environments

    A Qualitative Study on Administration and Financing of Secondary Schools in Niger State

    On administration and financing of secondary schools in Niger state, the study has the following objectives; to explore the pattern of Administration in Niger State Secondary Schools, to describe the nature of Funding Secondary Education in Niger State, and to explain measures to be taken in handling the issues of Administration and funding of Secondary Schools in the State. A qualitative methodology was used so as to get an in-depth response from the participants on the phenomenon. A total of 4 participants were selected for this study. Two principals and two teachers, all the participants have been in the teaching profession for the past 15 years. The findings revealed that, government is not providing the required services in the administration of secondary schools in the state, and there is also serious inadequate funding which is hindering the success of school administration as well. The participants recommend that, government should provide the required funding, facilities and avenues that will facilitate effective and efficient administration at secondary school level in the state

    Empirical Analysis of Stock Market Development and Macroeconomic Indices in Nigeria

    This study examined the long-run relationship between stock market price and some macroeconomic indices in Nigeria. The time series data on stock market price, foreign exchange rate, inflation rate, broad money supply, corruption perception index, and credit to private sector between 1980 and 2021 were used for the study. The data were subjected to diagnostic tests before estimation. To this end, the autoregressive distributed lag method was used to estimate the model.  The results of unit root and Johansen co-integration tests showed that stock market price in Nigeria is majorly influenced by macroeconomic factors in the long-run. All the included explanatory variables were found to have a significant effect on stock market price, except inflation and corruption perception index. It is recommended that the monetary authorities and policy makers should be more concerned about the changes in inflation rate due to its negative impact on stock price in Nigeria. To this end, unproductive borrowing by banking sector and/or public expenditure on unproductive items should be discouraged and, businessmen should pay attention to movement of foreign exchange rate, broad money supply and credit to private sector in their decision to invest in stock market in Nigeria

    Board Attributes and Stock Returns of Listed Industrial Goods Companies in Nigeria

    The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of board attributes on stock returns of quoted industrial goods companies in Nigeria. A sample size of eleven (11) firms listed in the industrial goods sector of Nigerian Stock Exchange as at 2021 and the study applied a panel analysis. Board independence, board size and board financial expertise were used as predictor variables, and findings shows that board size, board independence and board financial expertise have positive significant effect on stock returns of quoted industrial goods companies in Nigeria. From the findings, the study recommended that the board of directors of industry goods firms should increase their monitoring capacity towards discretionary behavior of management activities by increasing the number of experts in accounting and finance on the board to at least three in order to improve the quality of earnings
