    No full text
Introduction: Anubias sp. “White” is distinguished from other Anubias species by mutation. The leaves are white and green, which is popular and has great market demand. The growth of this aquarium plant is slow.   Method: The combination of adenine sulfate (Ads) and 6-benzyl aminopurine (BAP) into Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. A comparison of three substrate materials, i.e., filter pads (FP), husk ash granules (HAG) and rockwool (RW) were used in ex-vitro acclimatization of the plantlets.   Results: Ads and BAP had combined effects on the plantlets, leaves and roots of the apical bud (p<0.05). The treatment with only BAP at 0.5 mg/L in MS medium obtained the highest number of shoots, which was 7.40 shoots/explant (p<0.05). There is an interaction between 25 mg/L Ads and 1-1.5 mg/L BAP to induce callus. The treatments with HAG were better than the other planting materials in terms of growth performance (p<0.05). HAG yielded the best growth (fresh weight of 0.74 g/plant), which was better than FP and RW, respectively, and showed a significant (p<0.05) difference in terms of root number and plant height except root length.   Conclusion: There was an interaction between 25 mg/L Ads and 1-1.5 mg/L BAP to induce callus. The treatment with only BAP at 0.5 mg/L in MS medium obtained the highest number of shoots, which was 7.40 shoots/explant (p<0.05). The HAG as a planting medium was the optimal ex-vitro acclimatization of Anubias sp. ‘white’ plantlets

EXPLORING THE EVOLUTION OF SUSTAINABILITY SCIENCE UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLEXITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS

    No full text
Objective: The objective of this study are to investigate what and how existing sustainability programs are, to group and map these sustainability programs' main ideas to gain a more constructive and integrated understanding, and to find clues or opportunities to improve efforts to achieve sustainability.   Theoretical Framework: The concept of sustainable development remains complex, ambiguous, and challenging to implement. The global environmental situation is worsening, leading to disasters and unfavorable climate change. Despite numerous efforts such as seminars, research, conferences, and work programs, both locally and globally, the understanding and implementation of sustainability remain unclear. There are differing views on the focus and strategy needed to address the development paradox, indicating a lack of consensus on the true meaning of sustainability.   Method: This qualitative descriptive research employs a two-tiered literature review approach. The first focuses on the historical correlation between development and sustainability, examining early human civilization's development activities during the Neolithic era. The second tier analyzes and categorizes existing sustainability programs, reviewing various research articles on environmental preservation, natural resource protection, impact reduction, and social equity programs since the first industrial revolution. The findings are synthesized critically and comprehensively to identify common themes and core ideas.   Results and Discussion: This study acknowledges the complexity and challenges of sustainability, emphasizing the ongoing relevance of conservation and resilience as core concepts. To address the dichotomy of development, new sustainability programs must also consider the revitalization of natural resources, continuity of ecosystem services, biodiversity maintenance, and resilience building. Approaches such as ecosophy and predictive methods based on dynamic phenomena can contribute (as a clue) to achieving sustainability goals by encouraging holistic thinking, balancing human and environmental needs, and promoting co-evolution.   Research Implications: The complexity and constellation of diverse and intricate sustainability programs can be seen through this research. Although limited, these findings are expected to contribute to Sustainability science through a more comprehensive and constructive understanding of sustainability history and knowledge that has been described. Originality/Value: This study conducts a comprehensive research method covering various disciplines and a broad scope of sustainable development, including its evolution since the industrial revolution and aspects related to history of development. The research result creates a visual map representing the structure of existing sustainability programs, serving as a guide for proposing new research initiatives. This knowledge facilitates aligning new proposals with existing themes, bridging gaps in theories, and fostering the exploration and development of innovative sustainability ideas

IMPACT OF LAW 05-02 ON THE PRINCIPLE OF BALANCE BETWEEN LANDLORD AND TENANT INTERESTS IN COMMERCIAL LEASE AGREEMENTS: BETWEEN THE PROVISIONS OF OLD LAW AND NEW AMENDMENT

    No full text
Objective: This article aims to shed light on the extent to which the principle of balancing the legal positions of the lessor and the lessee has been established in light of the Commercial Law before and after the issuance of Law 05-02, as well as to address the new developments in the approach adopted by the Algerian legislator in the context of providing a legal framework that protects the contractual relationship related to commercial leasing.   Theoretical framework: The Algerian legislator has been keen to devote enhanced protection to the tenant by stipulating the tenant’s right to commercial ownership and renewal of the commercial lease, as well as the eviction notice and the compensation due when the landlord refuses to renew the commercial lease. However, this protection has diminished with the issuance of Law 05-02 amending and supplementing the Commercial Law, through which the legislator introduced a number of important amendments that affected the provisions of the commercial lease, represented in amending the rent and the lease term, especially the requirement of the official form for drafting the commercial lease contract, especially the introduction of Article 187 bis obligating the tenant to leave the commercial premises, and exempting the landlord from his obligation to notify the eviction and the compensation due, which led to an imbalance between the interests of the landlord and the tenant.   Methods: As an analytical study, the methodology of analyzing the content of the legal rules related to commercial leasing was relied upon, whether before or after the amendment, and comparing them to reach the various provisions related to evaluating the extent to which the Algerian legislator balances the positions of the lessor and the lessee. The descriptive methodology was also relied upon, by relying on studies published in this context, in order to list the various points of view presented on the legislator's position on the contract related to commercial leasing, as well as to come up with new results to rely on in discussing the new law.   Research implications: In the context of discussing a deep research problem, which is to estimate the position of the Algerian legislator towards the parties to the commercial lease contract, and their legal positions, through what it has established of rights and duties for each of the parties, the practical aspect surrounding the application of the legal text makes extracting the protective objectives that the legislator has taken into consideration the subject of unstable provisions, are the targeted dimensions purely legal, or do they follow a new legal approach within the framework of the new policies in legislation in general in Algeria. Originality of the research: The article studies the points of failure that may arise between the positions of the tenant and the landlord in the commercial lease contract, and raises the most important challenges facing the implementation of the new direction of the Algerian legislator, especially in the context of encouraging foreign investment, and the advantages that the tenant must enjoy in the context of eliminating the complications that may arise within the framework of these contracts
