    Design and Development of Electronic Document Archiving System

    The study focused on the design and development of an Electronic Document Archiving System for the University of Rizal System. This document management system allows users to organize and access files in electronic format. This developed system was assessed by the teaching and non-teaching staff from the URS Binangonan campus. An adapted survey questionnaire checklist was used to determine the result of the performance of the developed system and administered via Google Form. The questionnaire checklist was based on the ISO 25010 or software product quality criteria, in terms of functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and portability. On the design and development of the system, Rapid Application Development Software Development Life Cycle was utilized. On the assessment of the respondents on the developed Electronic Document Management System, it was found out that in terms of functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, maintainability, and portability, which were obtained with a weighted mean of 3.35, 3.44, 3.34, 3.42, 3.38, 3.49, and 3.31 and verbally interpreted as acceptable. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, it is recommended to modify the performance of the Electronic Document Management System as acceptable with respect to ISO 25010 – Software Quality Standards that were found weak by the IT experts, faculty, staff, and school administrators in terms of functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, maintainability, security, and portability

    Text Messaging as an Instruction Support on Spelling Performance of the Learners

    The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of text messaging on the spelling performance skills of the learners in selected elementary schools. It utilized the descriptive method of research to explore the prevailing or existing condition as to the extent of text messaging and the spelling performance of the learners. The findings revealed in the dictation and written test of the learners that their spelling skills highest frequency was “Good.” Further, the results showed a highly significant relationship between the extent of cellphone use on text messaging and the spelling performance of the learners. However, some of the participants contradicted the views mentioned, according to them, using a cellphone in texting can be used as a tool to enhance the spelling performance of the learners due to the built-in features of grammar and spelling. Therefore, it is concluded that text messaging can be used as a tool to support instruction in the spelling skills of the learners. Further, it is recommended to give full guidance on the proper usage of a cellphone to appropriately correct the learners’ spelling skills

    Design and Development of Student Evaluation System for Faculty Performance in University of Rizal System

    The study focused on the design and development of a student evaluation system for faculty performance in the University of Rizal System (URS). The system is composed of several features pertaining to privileges of different user groups, such as for the system admin, staff, and students. The developed system was evaluated by the respondents from the URS Binangonan campus, which mainly consists of students enrolled in different courses from first year to fourth year level. A survey questionnaire checklist was used to determine the level of acceptability of the design and development of the student evaluation system for faculty performance and administered via Google Form. The questionnaire checklist was based on the ISO25010, or software product quality criteria, in terms of functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and portability. Based on the result of the evaluation, it was found that the developed system was generally acceptable as perceived by the respondents. Moreover, the researcher concluded that the design and development of the student evaluation system for faculty performance was functionally suitable, performs efficiently, usable, reliable, secured, maintainable, and portable. Furthermore, the researcher recommends that the developed Student Evaluation System may be implemented and used as a tool for the conduct of faculty evaluation; improvements or enhancements may be applied to the areas that were deemed acceptable; and finally, further study may be conducted to measure its effectiveness and impact.

    Smart Educational Resource Management: A QR Code-Enabled System with Notification and Alerting Capabilities

    Effective management of educational resources is crucial for ensuring the quality of learning outcomes. However, traditional systems often rely on manual processes, leading to inefficiencies, errors, and delays. This paper presents a novel QR Code-Enabled Educational Resource Management System that leverages Quick Response (QR) codes to streamline these processes. The proposed system uses QR codes to track the availability and location of resources such as textbooks and equipment. Students and teachers can scan these codes with mobile devices to access relevant information, including resource availability, location, and usage history. Additionally, the system features notifications and alerting capabilities that remind users when resources are due or inform them of changes in availability. The system was evaluated using the ISO/IEC 25010 Model Quality Characteristics Framework, which includes functional suitability, performance efficiency, compatibility, usability, reliability, portability, and maintainability. Results indicate high levels of quality in use, with excellent performance efficiency, security, compatibility, reliability, and maintainability. This study demonstrates the potential of the QR Code-Enabled Educational Resource Management System to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of educational institutions. The system\u27s notification and alerting capabilities can further improve student engagement and motivation by providing timely reminders and updates on resource availability

    Spatial Analysis Leveraging Geographic Information System and Kernel Density Estimation for Crime Prediction

    This study explored the potential of spatial analysis techniques to predict crime hotspots and coldspots within the province of Antique, Philippines. The unique blend of geographical features (coastal and mountainous regions) and socio-economic characteristics in Antique presented a compelling opportunity for the research. Crime data from 2018 to 2023, encompassing direct assaults, homicides, murders, and parricides, was acquired from the Police Regional Office 6. Using Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) software and Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) algorithms, the researchers analyzed these crime records. The findings highlighted a positive trend – a decrease in direct assaults over the study period. However, homicide data presented a more concerning picture, with specific locations consistently reporting higher rates. While murder cases showed a decline, parricide incidents remained relatively low, with occasional fluctuations. In conclusion, this data-driven approach, utilizing advanced crime analysis tools, offers valuable insights for policymakers in Antique. By investing in such technology and adopting data-driven strategies, policymakers can work towards creating a safer and more secure future for their communities

    This study employs a combination of quantitative and experimental approaches to explore the relationship between family dynamics, psychological test results, and academic performance among students in specific courses. Quantitative data collection was conducted using existing student profiles from the guidance office, while an experimental research method utilized the C4.5 algorithm to determine these relationships. The participants were students enrolled in various courses over a specific academic year. The decision tree generated by the C4.5 algorithm was used to predict academic performance based on family dynamics and psychological test results. The study also employed Simple Linear Regression to identify the predictors of academic performance. The accuracy of the predictive model was tested using a confusion matrix, which yielded an accuracy rate of 97%. Additionally, a correlation matrix and regression analysis were performed to identify significant correlates and predictors of academic performance. The findings of this study suggest the potential for positive changes in guidance services, particularly in identifying predictors of academic performance and informing decision-making processes. These findings contribute to our understanding of schooling outcomes in relation to family dynamics and parental migration status

    Enrollment Appraisal Using Rule-Based Decision Support System

    This study explores the development and evaluation of a web-based enrollment appraisal system utilizing a rule-based decision support system for universities and colleges. Designed for the context of Antique, Philippines, the system leverages a two-tier architecture for efficient processing and secure data management. A user-friendly interface guides applicants through the enrollment process, while a secure server and rule-based engine analyze data against pre-defined eligibility criteria. The Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology ensured a user-centered design with iterative development cycles incorporating user feedback. Evaluations using McCall\u27s Software Quality Standard and the International Organization for Standardization and International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 25010 standard revealed the system\u27s strengths in technical aspects (security, usability) and overall functionality. User feedback highlighted areas for improvement in interface design, clarity, and user perceptions of data security. The study concludes that the system offers a promising approach for more efficient and transparent enrollment processes. By addressing the feedback received, the system can be further enhanced to improve the user experience and build trust among applicants

Personal communication, computing, broadcasting, and entertainment heavily rely on multimedia content, which is transmitted through diverse communication and network technologies to reach a wide range of devices. QoS requirements for multimedia services are determined by parameters including bandwidth flexibility, low end-to-end delay, minimal delay variation, and acceptable error rates. These parameters are interconnected and vary depending on the type of multimedia application. However, the QoS needs of multimedia communications cannot be fully met by the internet\u27s basic infrastructure. Mechanisms for ensuring QoS guarantees over the Internet have been developed through extensive research and development. This study examines developments, difficulties, and strategies for improving the transmission of multimedia content over the Internet, providing an overview of the methodologies and strategies used to satisfy QoS criteria in multimedia communications

    A Prototype Development of a Mobile Schedule Viewer Integrating QR Code Technology and Decorator Design Pattern for Effective Dissemination of Class Schedules

    Class schedules undergo continuous changes with each new release, making manual scheduling a complex task. To address this issue, this study proposes integrating a mobile application that enables students to promptly access their accurate class schedules. A prototype mobile schedule viewer was developed to identify and resolve conflicts arising from conflicting schedules. The study confirmed the functionality and stability of the spreadsheet application, as the mobile schedule viewer successfully employed the decorator design pattern and integrated QR code generator plugins. These plugins facilitated the extraction of existing schedule files from the University Integrated Information System (UIIS). The overall findings indicate that the applications are 95 percent complete in terms of degree of completeness (DOC) and boast a record level of accuracy (RLA) of 95 percent
