Get PDFHindi maikakaila ang bilis ng paglaganap ng Katolisismong dala ng mga Kastila sa bansang Pilipinas; isang dahilan kung bakit tuluyan nang naiangkla sa pagkatao ng bawat Pilipino ang kahalagahan ng salitang relihiyon. Isa sa mga patunay ng pagkakaroon ng mahigpit na pagyakap ng mga Pilipino sa Katolisismo ay ang mga heritage church na matatagpuan sa Pampanga. Dahil dito, nabansagan ang mga Kapampangan na hindi lamang mahusay sa kusina, kundi pati na rin sa pagkakaroon ng masidhing pagpapahalaga sa kultura-pananampalatayang iniwan ng kanilang mga ninuno. Ito ang naging inspirasyon ng papel, ang makita ang kultura- pananampalatayang mayroon ang mga Kapampangan noong ika-18 siglo sa pamamagitan ng paghimay sa talasalitaan ng Kapampangan na isinulat ni Fray Diego Bergaño (1690-1747). Sa pamamagitan ng kwalitatibong pag-aaral at deskriptibong pag- aanalisa, ginamit ang talasalitaan ni Bergaño na unang nailimbag noong 1732 bilang pangunahing teksto ng pananaliksik. Inalam at itinala ang mga salitang makikita rito na may kaugnayan sa relihiyon na umusbong sa panahong iyon. Sa tulong din ng panayam mula sa mga paring Kapampangan at ilang taong maalam sa kultura-pananampalatayang Kapampangan, nakagawa ng naratibo ang mga mananaliksik na nagsilbing tulay sa muling pagsilip sa kultura sa pagdarasal, paniniwala sa mga masasamang elemento at sumpa, pagsasabuhay ng pamahiin, tradisyon sa patay, konsepto sa mga bagay na makikita sa loob at labas ng simbahan, at sanhi ng pagkakasala ng mga Kapampangan sa kasaysayan.Ipinakita sa kabuuan ng pag-aaral ang transpormasyong naganap sa kultura-pananampalatayang Kapampangan -- mula sa nakaraan tungong kasalukuyan
Fiber-Reinforced Thermoelectric Tile As An Alternative Source Of Energy
Get PDFUrban heating in modern cities that raises the temperature by 1℃ to 3℃ than the ordinary environment temperature due to the presence of high thermal mass materials present within the environment is a phenomenon called the Urban Heat Island Effect. These materials tend to store huge amount of thermal energy resulting to more humid environment temperature. This study proposes a method of reducing urban heating by converting thermal heat energy to electrical energy using fiber-reinforced thermoelectric tiles. The design of these tiles makes use of the concept of flywheel effect. Materials that possess high thermal mass can store thermal energy when the ambient temperature is higher than the material and releases it back when the ambient temperature is cooler. The study aims to convert the stored heat energy in materials to usable energy instead of being released back to the environment. This is accomplished by employing concrete cement mixed with carbon and aluminum fibers that act as n-type and p-type material, respectively, arranged in a way that one side is exposed to high temperature and the other side to low temperature. Result showed that a temperature difference between 15℃ and 35℃ can induce voltage and current between 0.75V to 1.80 V and 1.15A to 1.28 A, respectively, for a 305 cm × 305 cm tile. Moreover, result showed that while converting the absorbed heat energy, the ambient temperature cools down faster compared to using typical concrete tiles

Get PDFLarawan ng isang lipunan ang pagkakaroon ng mga museo bilang lagakan o repositoryo hindi lamang ng mga kulturang materyal ngunit maging ng mga salaysaying-bayang nakakabit sa pambansang kasaysayan at pambansang kamalayan ng mga mamamayan nito. Gayumpaman, bukod sa naghahatid ito ng iba’t ibang anyo ng kaalaman, kung minsan ay nagiging aparato rin ng mga propagandang maaaring mag-angat o magsantabi sa isang partikular na pangkat. Dahil karamihan sa mga museo ay binuo sa panahong post-kolonyal, maaaring pagnilayan ang namamayaning naratibo, representasyon, at pag-alala sa mga ito. Sa bawat museo, naitatanghal ba ang mga katutubo, kolonyal, o post- kolonyal na kaisipan at pagpapakahulugan? Patas ba ang pakikisangkot ng bayan bilang nilalaman at bida ng mga museo, o tagatangkilik o tagamasid lamang sila sapagkat dinodomina na rin ito ng mga naghahari at makapangyarihang naratibo?
Aambagan ng sanaysay na ito ang napapanahon at makabagong pagtingin sa museolohiyang kakawala sa naghaharing pananaw at pamantayan ng Kanluran—na kadalasa’y nagtanghal, walang humpay na nagbigay ng pagpapakahulugan, sa Silangan nitong mga nagdaang panahon. Bagaman hinugot at isinentro ito mula sa mga personal na paglalakbay, pagsusuruy-suroy, at obserbasyon ng may-akda sa mga museo nang siya’y maglakbay sa iba’t ibang bansa sa Asya-Pasipiko at Europa sa pagitan ng taong 2014 at huling bahagi ng 2019, naglatag naman ito ng ilang kritikal na pagsusuri at pagtingin tungkol sa (1) pagkakahati at nilalaman ng mga museong kanyang narating; (2) kalagayan ng mga artifact (sampu ng mga posibleng isyu rito); at (3) representasyon at layuning “isabansa” ang mga museo, na siyang maaaring ilapat din sa lipunang Pilipino. Liban pa rito, nilayon din ng sanaysay na ambagan ang umuusbong na Araling Kabanwahan—ang pag-aaral tungkol sa ugnayan/pag-uugnay-ugnay ng Pilipinas at ng mga ibang bayan sa labas nito na umaayon sa diwa, talastasan, at tunguhin ng pagka-Pilipino
Ecojustice Education Approach: Using Montes’ “Turtle Season” Short Story to Teach the Intersectionality of Gender and Environment
Get PDFThis paper uses Ecojustice Education as advanced by Martusewicz, Edmundson, and Lupinacci (2015) as an approach to use literature as material to teach the intersectionality of gender and environment through a constructivist module form. Studies including Seager (1999) reveal the link between patriarchal methods and the destruction of nature, illustrating a space where gender politics exacerbates environmental degradation. This paper presents a model for maximizing literature as a reflection of significant human experiences. Here the researchers crafted a way to use literature to marry issues of gender and environment in a palatable form for classroom consumption. The researchers see the model as useful for developing instructional materials that brings together issues tackled by gender and development and environmental education. Through the Ecojustice Education approach, literature is perused not as art for art’s sake but rather elevated as a platform to promote an ecological worldview to shape student consciousness and elicit active efforts from schools and educators to be creative in addressing concerns of gender and environment.

Ano ang signipikanteng layon sa likod nito?
Sapagkat, sa kabila ng malinaw nang mga patunay na hindi lamang isang ‘hobby’ ang pagsusulat ng malikhaing akda, sa kabila ng mga programa at kurso kaugnay ng panitikan at malikhaing pagsulat, sa kabila ng pagkilala sa halaga ng ‘creative industries,’ marami pa ring mga atrasadong pag-iisip ang bumabansot sa mga malikhaing akda at itinuturing ito na mas maliit sa kani-kanilang larangan na pinagdadalubhasaan. Hindi naman na marahil kagulat- gulat ang ganitong pagtrato sa panitikan at malikhaing pagsulat, o sa humanidades sa kabuuan. Matagal na rin namang pinag-uusapan ng mga akademiko at intelektuwal ang tinatawag nilang ‘death of humanities,’—ang humanidades bilang “dying area in desperate need of resuscitation” (Maxwell 78).
Kaya nga’t itong pagtatakda ng Entrada na maglaan ng munting mga espasyo sa ‘poetika’ ng mga malikhaing akda ay pagkilala sa halaga ng panitikan at malikhaing pagsulat bilang isang seryosong larangan na kumakaakibat din sa iskolarling proseso ng paggawa at pananaliksik

Ang mga Diskurso ng Araling Pilipino na Umiiral sa mga Artikulo ng Malay Journal (The Discourses of Philippine Studies in the Articles of Malay Journal)
Get PDFThis paper is founded on the assumption that Philippine Studies has five different discouses: 1) Philippine studies as a neutral discourse; 2) colonial Philippine studies as a discourse that is based on western power and reinforces such power; 3) generic postcolonial Philippine studies as a discourse that critiques western hegemony; 4) Pilipinolohiya as a specific postcolonial discourse that was inaugurated by Prospero Covar; and 5) pantayong pananaw as another specific postcolonial discourse that was inaugurated by Zeus Salazar. Malay Journal, on the other hand, is a scholarly periodical intended for researchers in the field of Philippine studies who use the Filipino language. Currently, it is the most respected journal that is exclusively published in Filipino language, based on the fact that it is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education and listed in a number of international abstracting and indexing organizations. This paper intends to establish which among these five discourses of Philippine studies is the most dominant in as far as the articles of the said journal are concerned. In order to attain such goal, this paper analyzed 50% random sample of the articles that were published from 2011, when the journal had completed its shift towards Philippinestudies, up to 2015, the present complete year of publication for the said journal
Ang Bamboo Organ ng Las Piñas: Pakikipanayam sa Apat na Susing Indibidwal ukol sa Kultural na Yaman ng Lungsod ng Las Piñas
Get PDFThis paper introduces the Las Piñas Bamboo Organ as a cultural treasure. By interviewing four key individuals related to the bamboo organ, the paper discusses the history, present condition, and activities related to the preservation and sustenance of the bamboo organ. Interview, a method of oral history, was chosen to let the people involved share their own memories and experiences that are not usually featured in written documents about the bamboo organ. The following themes emerged from the interviews: (1) the introduction of Father Diego Cera as an organ builder, (2) the motivations in using bamboo as the main material of the bamboo organ, (3) the quality of the sound produced by the bamboo organ, (4) the restoration of the bamboo organ, (5) the beginnings, objectives, and activities of the Bamboo Organ Foundation, Inc., (6) the beginnings and objectives of the International Bamboo Organ Festival and the activities related to it, (7) the problems that the bamboo organ faces, and (8) the importance of training organists. The researchers also identified the implications of the conservation of the bamboo organ in theeconomic, social, ecological, and cultural aspects of the city’s social life based on its potentials for development. This paper can be a useful primary source for future researchers of the bamboo organ and the local history of Las Piñas
