Get PDFThe practicum management of chemistry teachers at senior high school on the topic of acid-base is quite good, although the majority are monotonous in testing acid-base properties using large amounts of solution. Some schools only limit the practical use of extracts from various flowers with certain color pigments, then tested on several samples and used as natural indicators, but have not paid attention to the number of reagents and estimated waste generated. The purpose of this activity is to improve the quality of classical practicum and the attractiveness of acid-base indicators from materials that refer to the principles of green chemistry. Service activities are carried out in training through the practicum method of making acid-base indicators using purple cabbage extract, sodium alginate, and 1% CaCl2 solution. This training provides a new and innovative description of the formation of purple cabbage extract gel as an acid-base indicator in the form of red balls under acidic conditions and green under alkaline conditions. Chemistry teachers were very happy and felt that this practicum was simple and interesting to be packaged and brought to the routine practicum conducted at schools

Get PDFLipid profile examination including total cholesterol level, triglycerides level and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol reduction is essential to be done as a routine activity quinquennially to prevent someone from the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity. This kind of examination is mandatory for the elderly people to maintain their quality of life. In order to support the government program on the prevention of the cardiovascular diseases, a team of social service of Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Sanata Dharma (FFUSD) was organizing an event of lipid profile examination in one of Christian church located in Kalasan, Yogyakarta. As many as 35 elderly people were enthusiastically participating on the event. A nurse from Poliklinik Sanata Dharma was appointed to take the blood samples, which were further taken to the Biochemistry Laboratory in FFUSD to get analysed. The results were sent to the participants in private. The overall blood lipid profiles of most participants showed good level of quality, indicating that they have been trying to manage their life healthily. However, as much as 62. 8% of participants showed a low level of the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. This was believed due to the food intake which was still rich in oil and fat. The result of the research describes the process of using the main method of social group work through the phases of intervention generally which consist of engagement, intake, contract, assessment, planning, implementation, and termination on the intervention level of the mezzo (small group) and the social service system at Sinar Damai Sejahtera Orphanage. The community service is aimed to rebrand and to promote the Village and to increase the agriculture potencies of Kampung KB Melati. One of the programs which was already planned by the people and agencies related to the village is the thematic village where the people of Kampung KB Melati are going to plant and cultivate grapes in their graveyard this program is called Kampung Peng-Angguran (The Grape Village). Started from identifying the problems, making programs, and the implementation of the programs, the students were working to involve the people of the village. The programs that were planned by the students to support the Kampung Peng-Angguran programs were such as workshop to educate the people on how to plant the grape and the students also helped to facilitate to get the assistances from the government especially the Farming and Food Agency of Salatiga City

The application of independent learning is seen as ineffective because the phenomenon is that students, especially at the elementary school level, use their free time more by playing and doing activities outside of learning activities. This has an impact on the less than the optimal process of material absorption and students' cognitive development to be able to accept learning. Situasi yang disruptif karena pandemi ini memberikan imbas yang cukup signifikan bagi kestabilan ekonomi rumah tangga termasuk juga bagi anggota credit union. Untuk itu memang credit union perlu fokus meningkatkan kapabilitas anggota mereka sehigga mendukung penguatan ekonomi produktif. Peran credit union diharapkan tidak hanya sebagai fasilitas simpan pinjam saja namun bisa lebih untuk meningkatkan kemandirian anggota melalui berbagai macam kegiatan termasuk didalamnya kegiatan yang kolaboratif antar sesama anggota. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat kali ini ini dirancang dalam bentuk pelatihan selama dua hari dengan 8 topik pendampingan. Peserta kegiatan berasal dari 4 credit union dengan jumlah total 150 peserta. Secara umum tahapan ini dilakukan melalui tahapan persiapan, tahapan pelaksanaan dan tahapan evaluasi. Tahapan persiapan dilakukan dengan koordinasi awal bersama pengelola credit union untuk melakukan identifikasi kebutuhan pendampingan anggota. Tahapan pelaksanaan dilakukan oleh tim pengabdi selama 2 hari untuk masing-masing credit union. Tahapan evaluasi menghasilkan rumusan rencana tindak lanjut untuk kemudian diimplementasikan dan dimonitoring pelaksanaannya. Rencana tindak lanjut ini menitikberatkan pada upaya kolaboratif anggota dan peran credit union.
PENDAMPINGAN PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS METODE MONTESSORI BAGI GURU TK KANISIUS DEMANGAN BARU
Get PDFThis community service activity aimed to assist teachers at Kanisius Demangan Baru Kindergarten about Montessori method-based learning so that teachers can apply it in their respective classes. The method applied in this service is the discussion method by explaining the material to be delivered, the question and answer method is used to explore the teacher's understanding of the material to be given and the workshop is used to train and guide teachers in compiling learning videos that are integrated into the classroom. The results showed that the Montessori method of teaching mentoring received a positive response. The teacher clearly understood the material presented, especially the daily life skills area and the sensorial area. For language and mathematics materials, teachers need to get further assistance. The data result also explains that the Montessori method is effective and can be developed in Kanisius Kindergarten, Demangan Baru. In addition, the Montessori method is also relevant to the learning process and curriculum used by Kanisius Demangan Baru Kindergarten in collaboration with reflective pedagogy
