The meaning of life: between contradiction and absurd. (Antinomy of the meaning of life in modern naturalism)
Get PDFThe article attempts to systematize existing approaches to the problem of the meaning of human life. Within the framework of the well-known division into nihilism, supernaturalism and naturalism, analysis of meaning is carried out, which is illustrated by the thought experiment Save Sisyphus. Existing naturalistic approaches are systematized on several grounds, as a result of which the antinomy of the meaning of life is demonstrated. The authors suggest a way of overcoming this antinomy: if naturalism wants to continue the discussion about the meaning of life, it will require changing the paradigm of the search for the meaning of life to the search for the aim of life.El artículo intenta sistematizar los enfoques existentes sobre el problema del sentido de la vida humana. En el marco de la conocida división en nihilismo, sobrenaturalismo y naturalismo, se lleva a cabo un análisis del sentido, que se ilustra con el experimento mental Salvar a Sísifo. Los enfoques naturalistas existentes se sistematizan sobre varios puntos de vista, como resultado de lo cual se demuestra la antinomia del sentido de la vida. Los autores sugieren una manera de superar esta antinomia: si el naturalismo quiere continuar la discusión sobre el sentido de la vida, requerirá cambiar el paradigma de la búsqueda del sentido de la vida por el de la búsqueda del fin de la vida

The present work intends to show how for Nietzsche the deepest forces of vital impulses begin in this initial physiological mutism and derive in the tragic and bottomless demand of hermeneutic condemnation. Contrary to what it might seem, there is in his thought a hierarchy of drives linked to the appropriate cadence of the choreographic. Dance could be understood as the physiological pedagogy of the will to power for anyone who laughs riskily and who frees himself from the reductive moral manichaeism of conscience. Only the seriousness of laughter, without ever intending it, can become an educational testimony for others. The way in which we can best understand this is by looking at the unconscious magisterium of Kazantzakis' old Zorba. Cuando el cuerpo es el interlocutor de la vida ya no es posible otra opción que la afirmación de absolutamente todo, incluso de la negatividad de lo que nos falta.
El presente trabajo pretende hacer ver cómo para Nietzsche las fuerzas más profundas de los impulsos vitales arrancan de ese mutismo fisiológico inicial y derivan en la exigencia trágica y sin fondo de la condena hermenéutica. Frente a lo que pudiera parecer, sí que hay en su pensamiento una jerarquía educativa de las pulsiones que se vincula con la adecuada cadencia de lo coreográfico. La danza podría ser entendida como la pedagogía fisiológica de la voluntad de poder para todo aquel que ríe arriesgadamente y que se libera del reductivo maniqueísmo moral de la conciencia. Solo la gravedad de la risa, sin pretenderlo nunca, puede llegar a convertirse en testimonio educativo para los demás. La manera en que mejor podremos comprender esto será fijándonos en el inconsciente magisterio del viejo Zorba de Kazantzakis
La mortaja como metáfora, la puesta en valor y la estetización de lo íntimo y lo doméstico en La amortajada de María Luisa Bombal
Get PDFMaría Luisa Bombal is one of the most renowned Chilean writers; her avant-garde writing marks a turning point in the history of Chilean literature, and her novel *La Amortajada* is considered groundbreaking in the Latin American context. Given this, we revisit the novel to analyze it in light of the present and renew its reading. To do so, we focus on the intimate and the domestic, which, although evident themes in the novel, have often been regarded in critical studies as aspects that reflect stereotypical and patriarchal views of femininity. Here, however, we aim to show how these spaces, historically associated with women, are valued and aestheticized by Bombal.
We demonstrate that *La Amortajada* is, in itself, a way of speaking about femininity by embodying it in spaces that are not merely oppressive. Additionally, we explore how the shroud can be understood as a metaphor that the author uses to challenge the religious, social, and cultural boundaries that constrained women in her time. Ultimately, this paper draws attention once again to a fertile text that still allows us to reflect on femininity from multiple perspectives and meanings.María Luisa Bombal es una de las escritoras chilenas más reconocidas, su escritura vanguardista señala un punto de inflexión en la historia de la literatura chilena y su novela.
La amortajada es considerada rupturista en el ámbito latinoamericano. En vista de esto, aquí retomamos la novela con el fin de analizarla a la luz del presente y reactualizar su lectura. Para hacerlo, centramos nuestra atención en lo íntimo y lo doméstico, que, si bien constituyen temáticas evidentes de la novela, en muchos estudios críticos han sido señalados como aspectos que demuestran visiones estereotipadas y patriarcales de lo femenino. Aquí, por el contrario, queremos mostrar cómo esos espacios históricamente asociados a las mujeres son puestos en valor y estatizados por Bombal.
Mostramos que La amortajada es en sí misma una forma de hablar de lo femenino, siéndolo, desde espacios que no son solamente opresivos. También, exponemos cómo la mortaja puede ser entendida como una metáfora que le sirve a la autora para cuestionar los límites religiosos, sociales y culturales que cercan a las mujeres en su época.
Con todo, se llama la atención nuevamente sobre texto feraz, que nos permite aún reflexionar sobre el ser femenino desde múltiples ángulos y significaciones

Get PDFThe article shows that Oscar Wilde's life and work can only be understood through the ideal of beauty. As an ideal that resides in the connection between the existing and the artists, this ideal makes the world habitable. Likewise, Wilde's legacy responds to a fecund philosophical- hermeneutic discourse that extends beyond the modern era in which it was conceived, influencing today's postmodern world. This is analysed on the concepts of truth and falsehood present in the author's artistic and existential theory, which in turn reflects the intrinsic link between the writer and his legacy. El artículo muestra que la vida y la obra de Oscar Wilde tan solo pueden ser comprendidas desde el ideal de la belleza. Entendido como algo que reside en la conexión entre lo existente y los artistas, este ideal hace el mundo habitable. Asimismo, el legado de Wilde responde a un fecundo discurso filosófico-hermenéutico que se despliega más allá de la época moderna en la que fue concebido, influyendo en el mundo actual postmoderno. Get PDFThe present article will review some of Richard Rorty's arguments in favor of the elimination or reduction of the concept of truth, especially regarding its normative dimension. First, I will outline Rorty's proposal, and then show some of the most significant objections to his suggestion to transform the search for objectivity into an attempt to broaden solidarity. Subsequently, I will present some of the arguments in favor of Rorty's position, which advocate naturalizing or reducing the normative dimension of truth. Finally, I will argue that, even though truth has an undeniable social dimension, we do not seem to be able to get rid of it so easily.El presente artículo se propone revisar algunos de los argumentos de Richard Rorty en favor de la eliminación o reducción del concepto de verdad, especialmente en lo que respecta a su dimensión normativa. En primer lugar, expondré la propuesta de Rorty, para luego mostrar algunas de las objeciones más significativas a su sugerencia de transformar la búsqueda de la objetividad en un intento de ampliar la solidaridad. Posteriormente, expondré algunos de los argumentos en favor de la posición de Rorty, que abogan por naturalizar o reducir la dimensión normativa de la verdad. Por último, defenderé que, pese a que la verdad tenga una dimensión social innegable, no parece que podamos deshacernos de ella tan fácilmente

We do not reduce matter to the material—instead, we see it as the empty foundation that disintegrates all possible stability, both of the self and the surrounding world. The experience, to a certain extent secretive, searching for this center will be the subject of this article, which will show both the methodological strategies used by the poet to reach it, as well as the encounter of a background that, far from establishing a solid support point that makes poetic activity possible, revealing the impossibility of any stability.Penetrar en la materia, en la obra Residencia en la tierra de Pablo Neruda, constituye un tenso movimiento entre el sujeto lírico y un fondo que, en la caída hacia el centro de lo material, se desvela como un abismo desmesurado. La materia no es reducible a lo material, siendo, en cambio, el fundamento vacío que desintegra toda posible estabilidad, tanto del yo como del mundo circundante. La experiencia, hasta cierto punto hermética, de la búsqueda de dicho centro será lo estudiado en este artículo, en el que se mostrarán tanto las estrategias metodológicas utilizadas por el poeta para lograr alcanzarlo, como el encuentro de un fondo que, lejos de establecer un punto de apoyo firme que posibilite la actividad poética, revela la imposibilidad de cualquier estabilidad
Construcción de la dialogicidad en trabajos escritos de estudiantes del profesorado de Literatura en Uruguay
Get PDFThe construction of the authorial voice in relation to other authors (dialogicity) is a challenge for writers of academic texts. Since literature is constructed through a dialogue among multiple texts, the complexities of dialogicity are increased. Literature teacher education students must express their position towards the concepts of the different authors referred in their texts. This paper studies discursive patterns in the construction of dialogic stances in the field of literature teacher education in the Uruguayan context. Methodologically, the article has a qualitative perspective through two case studies of texts written by students as evaluations in a teacher education course. The corpus is made of the two texts written by these students. This work is framed by Systemic Functional Linguistics, using the system of appraisal focused on the semantic area of engagement, which enables the identification of statements that open or close the author’s voice or other voices and their positioning towards the topics addressed. As a result, the study of the engagement categories and their lexicogrammatical realizations allowed us to characterize patterns that conform four stages: Presentation, Development, Profiling of author’s voice, and Positioning. Likewise, it was detected a systematic use of mental and verbal processes that introduce the authors studied, though they conceal the students’ voices. In this way, a meta-voice is constructed that consists of the authors saying what other authors are saying, to create a stance that responds to the demands of the academic task. In conclusion, this article constitutes a first step into how dialogic stances are constructed in the field of literature. Therefore, this study is a double contribution: on the one hand, it adds literature to the academic fields that have been studied from the system of appraisal. On the other hand, it offers students of literature teacher education a characterization of how texts construct dialogicity in their discipline. As a projection, there is room to develop this work in future research with an increasing corpus to consolidate and deepen these results.La construcción de la voz autoral en relación con otros autores (dialogicidad) es un desafío que enfrentan todos los autores de textos académicos. Dado que la literatura se construye en el diálogo entre múltiples textos, las complejidades de la dialogicidad se ven incrementadas. Los estudiantes de profesorado de literatura necesariamente deben posicionarse con respecto a los conceptos de cada autor referido en sus escritos. Este trabajo analiza los patrones discursivos en la construcción de la dialogicidad en el campo de la formación en literatura en el contexto uruguayo. Metodológicamente, nos posicionamos desde una perspectiva cualitativa, a través de dos estudios de caso de trabajos escritos realizados por dos estudiantes como evaluación de un curso de profesorado. El corpus corresponde a los textos producidos por estos dos estudiantes. Este trabajo se enmarca en la Lingüística Sistémico-Funcional, utilizando el sistema de valoración focalizado en la región semántica del compromiso, que permite identificar en los enunciados de los textos la apertura o cierre de la voz autoral a otras voces y su posicionamiento con respecto a los tópicos abordados. Como resultado, el estudio de las categorías de compromiso y de sus realizaciones lexicogramaticales nos permitió caracterizar patrones que configuran cuatro etapas: Presentación, Desarrollo, Perfilamiento de la voz propia y Posicionamiento. Asimismo, se detectó el uso sistemático de procesos mentales y verbales que introducen los autores estudiados, aunque se ocultan las voces de las estudiantes. Se configura así una metavoz, según la cual las autoras hablan de lo que hablan otros autores para cumplir con la demanda de la tarea académica
Comportamiento argumentativo del ChatGPT 3.5: similitudes y diferencias con la práctica argumentativa humana
Get PDFThe development of artificial intelligence (AI) has opened a new debate about the linguistic capabilities of this technology and its potential impact on all dimensions of human activity (Brynjolfsson and McAfee, 2014).
Aspects such as the massive collection of data to train AI models have raised concerns about the privacy and security of information, due to the risk of misuse. In order to assess similarities or differences between AI and human linguistic abilities, this work specifically analyses argumentative behaviour in terms of the viewpoints adopted by Chat GPT, version 3.5, in the face of a controversial situation expressed in a moral dilemma of the D.I.T.’ questionnaire (Rest, 2013) and is compared with a similar sample of human adults (Noemi, 2019) subjected to the same discursive task. The research followed a comparative multiple case study (Flick, 2020) through a mixed methodology (Johnson and Onwuegbuzie, 2004), combining a quantitative approach with a qualitative one. The results show that 100% of the IH sample take a position (for or against), whereas only 23.4% of the GPT chat sample do. The results encourage us to think that the differences found could be explained by the AI’s weakness in context sensitivity (lack of relevant pragmatic competence) and the lack of a self-involvement process to face moral reasoning tasks.El desarrollo de la inteligencia artificial (IA) ha abierto una nueva discusión sobre la capacidad lingüística de esta tecnología y su potencial impacto en todas las dimensiones de la actividad humana (Brynjolfsson y McAfee, 2014). A fin de evaluar similitudes o diferencias entre la capacidad lingüística de la IA y la humana, este trabajo analiza específicamente el comportamiento argumentativo en términos de los puntos de vista que adopta Chat GPT, versión 3.5, frente a una situación controversial expresada en un dilema moral del Cuestionario D.I.T. (Rest, 2013) y se compara con una muestra similar de adultos humanos (Noemi, 2019), sometida a la misma tarea discursiva.
La investigación siguió un estudio comparativo de casos múltiples (Flick, 2020) a través de una metodología mixta (Johnson y Onwuegbuzie, 2004), que combinó un enfoque cuantitativo con uno cualitativo.
Los resultados muestran que el 100% de la muestra de IH emite un punto de vista (a favor o en contra), mientras que de la muestra producida por el Chat GPT, sólo el 23,4% lo hace. Los resultados animan a pensar que las diferencias encontradas se podrían explicar por la debilidad de la IA de ser sensible al contexto (falta de una competencia pragmática relevante) y la inexistencia de un proceso de autoimplicación para enfrentar tareas de razonamiento moral

This meticulous analysis results in a reflection that outlines the lines of argument that this manuscript shares with other documents belonging to the group of Tlaxcala sources that recount the conquest of New Spain.El Códice entrada de los españoles en Tlaxcala es un documento de contenido visual que, a pesar de sus anecdotarios, no ha sido debidamente atendido por los historiadores.
Este artículo indaga a través del cotejo de sus sugerentes trazos con otras fuentes (como los conjuntos documentales del Lienzo de Tlaxcala, y la obra de Diego Muñoz Camargo) acerca de los problemas historiográficos que presenta este manuscrito: su autoría, su fecha de creación, y la intencionalidad con la que fue creado.

Detección de marcadores discursivos: el caso de los conectores causal-consecutivos y su polifuncionalidad
Get PDFDiscourse markers have been the subject of multiple studies in the last decades, and their definition and classification have been deepened in the more general field of particles, that is, the invariable parts of discourse.
This article describes a methodological proposal based on a mixed methods approach for the automatic detection of parenthetic discourse markers using an English - Spanish parallel corpus. We propose an algorithm that identifies traces of a discursive marker function of a unit and, if applicable, its polyfunctional character.
The results of the study are presented targeting the specific category of consecutive connectors. In the first place, the algorithm defines the eventual discourse marker’s condition. Then, it points out whether it belongs to the specific category of consecutive connectors, and, finally, it detects if there are indications of polyfunctionality.Los marcadores discursivos han sido objeto de estudio de numerosas investigaciones en las últimas décadas, y se ha profundizado en su definición y clasificación en el ámbito más general de las partículas, es decir, las partes invariables del discurso.
En el presente artículo se describe una propuesta metodológica basada en un enfoque mixto (cuali-cuanti) para la detección automática de marcadores discursivos parentéticos a través de un corpus paralelo inglés-castellano. Proponemos un algoritmo que identifica indicios de una función de marcador discursivo de una unidad y, de ser el caso, su carácter polifuncional.
Se presentan resultados de un estudio dirigido a la categoría específica de los conectores causal-consecutivos. El algoritmo en primer lugar determina la eventual condición de marcador discursivo de la unidad, luego señala si pertenece a la categoría específica de conectores causal-consecutivos y, finalmente, señala si hay indicios de polifuncionalidad
