Membumikan Nilai-Nilai Qur’ani di Pulau Pariwisata: Peran Sosial-Keagamaan Pondok Pesantren Al-Aziziyah, Kapek, Lombok Barat

    No full text
Abstract Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) are not only traditional Islamic educational institutions but also dynamic social agents capable of adapting to the evolving landscape of modern society, including in strategic tourism areas. This article aims to examine the socio-religious role of Pondok Pesantren Al-Aziziyah in localizing Qur’anic values within the conte xt of Lombok Barat, a region undergoing social transformation driven by rapid growth in the tourism sector. Employing a qualitative approach based on library research and content analysis of documents, scholarly articles, and institutional publications related to the pesantren’s activities, this study reveals three key findings: (1) Al-Aziziyah implements an integrative educational system that combines tahfizh (Qur’an memorization), classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), and character development; (2) the pesantren actively engages public spaces through cultural da‘wah initiatives, such as “Kafe Taman Langit,” serving as contextual expressions of Qur’anic values; and (3) its alumni emerge as transformative agents across strategic sectors, including religion, education, and sociopolitical domains. The primary contribution of this article lies in its integration of three academic domains—Qur’anic values, pesantren education, and tourism society dynamics—into a cohesive analytical framework that remains underexplored in contemporary scholarship.

Understanding The Identity of Women Wearing The Niqab in Relation To Extremist and Radical Stereotypes

    No full text
Some people generally perceive that wearing the niqab is closely associated with extremist and radical groups. However, every individual has the right to choose how to dress according to their personal beliefs and values. This study discusses the relationship between the identity of women wearing the niqab and the perceptions linking them to extremist and radical groups. The identity of women wearing the niqab is often associated with the views and actions of such groups. The purpose of this article is to explore the legal arguments regarding the niqab based on the four schools of Islamic thought, to analyze the cultural concepts and interpretations of the niqab across different regions of the world, and to examine the relationship between the identity of women wearing the niqab from religious, social, and cultural perspectives. This study employs a literature review method, using data collected from national and international journal articles and analyzed through the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana.  The findings reveal that the practice of wearing the niqab carries both positive and negative stereotypes. The negative stereotypes tend to portray the niqab as a marker of identity linked to extremist and radical groups. Meanwhile, several positive stereotypes are also commonly attributed to women who wear the niqab, such as piety and devotion, honor and dignity, wisdom and maturity, as well as serving as role models and sources of inspiration. It is important to understand that a person’s identity is not solely determined by their appearance or clothing. The identity of women wearing the niqab can be influenced by religion, community, and culture; however, not all women wearing the niqab are involved in extremism or radicalism. Every individual has the freedom to express their identity in a way that reflects their beliefs, as long as it does not violate the law or human values

    No full text
This study examines the transformational leadership of a female principal at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang, focusing on how her leadership impacts curriculum development and institutional progress. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Findings show that her leadership aligns with four key dimensions of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. These are evident in improved teacher attendance (+30%), enhanced teacher motivation (85% satisfaction), innovative program launches, and reduced disciplinary cases (–50%). The school’s values-based SAKINAH curriculum is implemented through integrative programs such as eco-education, Qur’an-based projects, and student entrepreneurship. This leadership model significantly improves the school’s reputation, achievements, and enrollment. The study recommends structured support for women leaders, contextualized curriculum design, and broader adoption of eco-integrated programs. Future research should explore long-term impacts of female leadership and the replication of this model in other Islamic educational setting

Resiliensi dan Kehidupan Sehari-hari dalam Keluarga Banyumasan: Iman, Humor, dan Gotong Royong

    No full text
This study explores family resilience in the Banyumasan community through a socio-cultural perspective, drawing on Walsh’s Family Resilience Framework, the Double ABC-X Model, and Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. Employing a qualitative approach with interviews, participant observation, and documentation, data were collected from twelve households across peri-urban, highland, and lowland contexts, alongside community leaders, religious figures, and women’s group activists. The findings show that resilience is anchored in gotong royong (mutual cooperation), egalitarian interaction, and the cultural symbolism of the Ngapak dialect. Belief systems shaped by Islamic faith and Banyumasan pragmatism facilitate meaning-making, while kinship-based networks and neighbourly solidarity sustain economic and social survival. Direct, humorous communication reduces ambiguity and enhances collective problem-solving. Livelihood diversification strengthens economic security, whereas migration simultaneously improves material welfare and strains relational and educational dimensions. By linking these dynamics to national policy indicators, the study demonstrates that Banyumasan families exemplify resilience processes that are both culturally distinctive and policy-relevant, offering insights for culturally grounded and migration-sensitive interventions.

Health Security Policies: A Comparative Study Through Constitutional Frameworks and the Insights of Veronica Rodriguez-Blanco

    No full text
In Indonesia, the 1945 Constitution mandates the establishment of health social security. Similarly, Section 15 of Article II of the Philippines’ 1987 Constitution asserts that the state has a duty to protect and promote the right to health for its citizens. Bangladesh’s Constitution, while not explicit, recognizes healthcare as a fundamental human right under Articles 15 (which addresses the provision of basic necessities) and 18 (which pertains to public health). Through a classic socio-dogmatic research method—a type of normative legal research—this study interprets how these constitutional provisions are implemented in practice. While Indonesia’s constitution clearloy requires the state to ensure health security, the government often falls short, lacking sufficient financial supports. In the Philippines, health security initiatives are gradually expanding but also suffer from inadequate funding. In contrast, Bangladesh has not prioritized health security, focusing instead on food security without emphasizing health as a state responsibility. Applying Rodriguez-Blanco’s theory reveals that Indonesia’s approach to social security leans towards an insurance model due to its reluctance to allocate adequate funds. In the Philippines, there is progress, albeit slow and underfund, while Bangladesh’s lack of health security development stems from its prioritization of basic food needs over health provisions
