Sakralisasi Negara: Praktik Ritual dan Konstruksi Sosial Ruang Publik di Jawa Kontemporer
Religious rituals are not merely devotional practices but social processes through which meanings, identities, and spatial orders are produced and stabilized. This article examines the resilience of Sima\u27an al-Qur\u27an and Dhikr al-Ghafilin in Ponorogo, East Java, where large-scale gatherings persist amid urban modernity. Drawing on Peter L. Berger\u27s sociology of knowledge, this qualitative study analyzes how ritual practices become durable social realities through externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that ritual participation reasserts moral order, institutionalizes collective meanings, and sacralizes bureaucratic public spaces, including state-associated venues. Internalization is reflected in participants\u27 embodied piety and moral-emotional attachment. The study contributes to debates on public religion by demonstrating how ritual practices actively re-code public space and sustain sacred meanings within contemporary social contexts.Ritual keagamaan tidak hanya merupakan praktik devosional, tetapi proses sosial yang memproduksi dan menstabilkan makna, identitas, serta tatanan ruang. Artikel ini mengkaji resiliensi Sima\u27an al-Qur\u27an dan Dzikr al-Ghafilin di Ponorogo, Jawa Timur, yang tetap menghadirkan partisipasi massal di tengah modernitas urban. Dengan menggunakan perspektif sosiologi pengetahuan Peter L. Berger, penelitian kualitatif ini menganalisis bagaimana praktik ritual menjadi realitas sosial yang kokoh melalui dialektika eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan analisis dokumen. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ritual berfungsi dalam peneguhan keteraturan moral, pelembagaan makna kolektif, serta sakralisasi ruang publik birokratis, termasuk ruang yang berasosiasi dengan institusi negara. Proses internalisasi tercermin dalam kesalehan yang terlembaga dan keterikatan moral-emosional jamaah. Studi ini berkontribusi pada kajian agama publik dengan menunjukkan peran ritual dalam mengonstruksi dan mengode ulang ruang publik kontemporer
The Role of Brand Love in Mediating the Influence of Brand Image on Brand Advocacy
Increasingly fierce retail competition demands businesses to build long-term relationships with consumers. Brand advocacy is a strategic behavior because it generates credible promotions based on consumer experiences. However, previous research findings on the influence of brand image on brand advocacy have shown inconsistent results. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of brand image on brand advocacy, with brand affection as a mediating variable, in a local retail context. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method involving 130 UD Rahmad consumers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the measurement and structural models. The results indicate that brand image has a positive and significant influence on brand advocacy and brand affection. Brand affection also has a positive and significant influence on brand advocacy and is proven to partially mediate the relationship between brand image and brand advocacy. These findings confirm that brand affection acts as an affective mechanism that strengthens the influence of brand image on advocacy behavior. This study concludes that strengthening brand image and managing consumer emotional attachment are important strategies for local retailers in driving sustainable brand advocacy
Spiritual Capital and Market Identity: The Symbolism of Ungku Saliah in Minang-Pariaman Trade Strategies
This study explores the socio-religious phenomenon of displaying photos of Ungku Saliah, a charismatic cleric from Pariaman, by Minangkabau traders in various Indonesian regions. The research aims to understand the motivations behind this practice and how religious symbols are integrated into modern trade strategies. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected between 2021 and 2024 through field observations and in-depth interviews with traders in Pariaman, Padang, and South Tangerang. The findings reveal that the display of Ungku Saliah’s photo functions as a form of "religious branding" and symbolic capital, believed by traders to provide spiritual protection, blessings (barakah), and a distinct market identity. Furthermore, the study identifies a contemporary transformation where these traditional symbols are now utilized in digital marketing on social media platforms. This research concludes that the practice is not merely an act of piety but a complex negotiation between maintaining local religious authenticity and adapting to pragmatic economic demands in a globalized market
Contesting Western Narratives: A Multimodal Analysis of Al Jazeera’s Terrorism Discourse on the Israel–Palestine Conflict
The escalating Israeli Palestinian conflict since October 2023 highlights the role of media in shaping public perception. Al Jazeera English utilizes YouTube to disseminate information globally, influencing opinions through a documentary video entitled "How Israel Won the West | The Big Picture." This study analyzes the discourse of terrorism carried out by Israel as a form of violation of international humanitarian law. This research employed an explora- tory qualitative approach, utilizing multimodal discourse analysis techniques. The selected documentary video serves as the unit of analysis due to its employment of various modes that influence the discourse directed at the audience. The results of this study indicate that the discourse in the documentary reflects violations of international humanitarian law com- mitted by Israel in the conflict with Palestine. The narrative and visuals presented highlight Israel\u27s actions that are often justified, creating the impression of immunity from humanitar- ian law despite attacking civilians. Strong support from Western countries such as the United States further strengthens Israel\u27s position and hinders the implementation of the law that should be carried out. This investigation advances the field of international media studies by illustrating how Al Jazeera utilized the YouTube platform to contest prevailing Western- backed narratives and to mobilize global public opinion regarding the conflict
Pengaruh Metode Pembelajaran Learning Start With A Question Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran IPS Terpadu
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Metode Pembelajaran Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif, dengan pendekatan Asosiatif. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer yang diperoleh dari penyebaran kuisioner kepada siswa kelas VIII pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu di SMP Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 76 responden. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan Penggunaan Metode Pembelajaran Learning Start With A Question berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Besaran pengaruh penggunaan Metode Pembelajaran Learning Start With A Question Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa sebesar 22,6%
Meningkatkan Aktivitas dan Hasil Belajar Pembelajaran Ekonomi Siswa Dengan Menerapkan Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan aktifitas dan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI B SMA negeri 1 Suwawa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dalam pelajaran ekonomi. Metode penelitin ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus dengan jumlah siswa 30 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi, tes untuk mengukur hasil belajar siswa, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Aktivitas belajar siswa siklus I menunjukan kategori “cukup aktif” dan siklus II menunjukan kategori “aktif”. Persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa Siklus I Sebesar 53,3% dan Siklus II Mencapai 90%, Meningkat Sebesar 36,7%
(Mis)reading ‘Sharia’ into the Ugandan Succession Act? Edirisa Miyingo v Ismail Ssempijja and Another (Civil Appeal 189 of 2019) [2025] UGCA 273 (19 August 2025)
Section 1 of the Succession Act provides that, “except as provided by this Act, or by any other law for the time being in force, the provisions of this Act shall constitute the law of Uganda applicable to all cases of intestate or testamentary succession.” The phrase “any other law” refers to written law. During the drafting of the Succession (Amendment) Act 2022, a proposal that the Succession Act should provide for circumstances in which Sharia would govern the estates of Muslims who die intestate was considered but not approved by Parliament. Consequently, the Succession Act remains the sole law governing the distribution of the estate of any person who dies intestate. Notwithstanding this legislative position, in Edirisa Miyingo v Ismail Ssempijja and Another (2025) the Court of Appeal held that the distribution of the estate of a Muslim who had died intestate in accordance with Sharia was not contrary to the Succession Act, despite acknowledging that Sharia is unwritten law. This article argues, inter alia, that the Court’s approach is inconsistent with the drafting history of the Succession Act and amounts to an impermissible reading-in of an exception that Parliament deliberately declined to enact
Utilization of Social Media in the Dissemination of Arabic Language Knowledge: A Case Study of Instagram Account @taalum.id
This study aims to describe the utilization of social media, particularly Instagram,in disseminating Arabic language knowledge through the @taallum.id account,as well as to analyze the content strategies employed to attract followers’ interestand enhance their understanding of the Arabic language. The study adoptsa qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected throughobservation, audience engagement analysis, interviews using purposive samplingtechniques, and documentation of four main content categories representingkey aspects of Arabic language learning, namely mufrodat (vocabulary), nahwu(grammar), reading skills, and daily expressions. Data analysis was carriedout through the processes of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing.The findings reveal that Instagram is utilized as a medium for disseminatingArabic language knowledge through the use of short educational videos withengaging visuals, accompanied by Arabic text and its translation. The mainstrategies employed by the @taallum.id account include the use of thematichashtags, interactive captions, and calls to action that motivate the audience to participate actively. The interviews with participants confirmed that the content was regarded as educational, engaging, and motivating for learning, particularly through a visual and contextual approach. Digital Political Communication on Twitter: Analysis of Gerindra Party’s Branding and Voter Engagement in Indonesia’s 2024 Election
Social media confers numerous benefits that exert substantial influence within society, establishing Twitter as a prominent platform for political communication. This research examines the effect of Gerindra Party\u27s Twitter account on shaping voter engagement in the 2024 election. The Gerindra Party maintains the Twitter account named \u27Gerindra\u27, which has published 3,250 tweets and has garnered 679,854 followers. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the Twitter accounts of the Gerindra and Prabowo parties, specifically the accounts of Gerindra and Prabowo. In analyzing the data, the NVivo 14 Plus application is used to explore the various relationships and networks within the version. The data analysis process in this research begins with the data input stage, which retrieves data from Twitter using the NCapture feature in NVivo. This stage encompasses data collected from the start of the active account, followed by coding, exploration, data visualization, data presentation, and conclusion. The study reveals that the Gerindra Party utilizes Twitter strategically for political communication and digital branding, thereby shaping its public image and fostering voter loyalty. It finds that product-oriented and ideological campaigns, including social-issue messages and the “Gemoy” candidate branding, are more dominant than purely candidate-focused content. It also reveals that, despite a large follower base, engagement remains moderate and is driven more by Prabowo Subianto’s personal appeal than by institutional messaging.
Employee Performance Satisfaction, Turnover Intention as an Intervening and Perceived Organizational Support as a Moderation in PT Karya Prima Multisarana
This study aims to analyze the influence of job satisfaction and the work environment on employee performance, with turnover intention as an intervening variable and perceived organizational support as a moderating variable, in PT. Karya Prima Multisarana. The research approach uses quantitative methods with surveys. The research population includes all employees of PT. Karya Prima Multisarana, with a sample of 100 respondents, was determined through saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method in SmartPLS 3. The study\u27s results show that job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance and turnover intentions. The work environment does not significantly affect employee performance, but it does substantially affect turnover intention. Turnover intention has a significant impact on employee performance and serves as a mediator of the effects of job satisfaction and the work environment on employee performance. In addition, perceived organizational support has a substantial impact on employee performance. Still, it has not been shown to moderate the effects of job satisfaction and the work environment on turnover intention. This study emphasizes the importance of increasing job satisfaction and managing turnover intention in an effort to improve employee performance in a sustainable manner
