    Compressible Euler equations with time-dependent damping in the critical regularity setting: global well-posedness and strong relaxation limit

    We investigate the relaxation problem and the diffusion phenomenon for the compressible Euler system with a time-dependent damping coefficient of the form µ (1+t) λ in R d (d ≥ 1). We establish uniform regularity estimates with respect to the relaxation parameter ε and prove the global wellposedness of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem. In addition, we justify the global-in-time strong convergence of the solutions towards those of a general porous medium-type diffusion system, with an explicit rate of convergence, and for ill-prepared initial data. The core of our proof relies on a refined hypocoercivity framework combined with a new time-dependent frequency decomposition, both adapted to handle damping terms with time-dependent coefficients. This enables us to treat the overdamped regime λ ∈ (-∞, 0) and the underdamped regime λ ∈ (0, 1) for any µ &gt; 0, and also the borderline critical case λ = 1 under the improved condition µ &gt; 2ε 2 .</div

    Full-scale experimental and numerical analysis of pavement surface layers responses to different loading conditions

    International audienceWhile base pavement layers have been often studied due to their main contribution to fatigue resistance, less studies have focused on surface layers. This study investigates the mechanical response of surface layers under different loading conditions, including different axle configurations: single and tridem axles and different interface bonding conditions, using experimental and numerical approaches. Two fullscale pavements with different types of surface layer materials, were subjected to those loading configurations. Strain gauges and optical fibers embedded at different depths were used to analyze strain responses under varying surface layer temperatures. Results show that tridem axle generates higher strains, due to the interaction between the closely spaced wheels. In addition, one structure presented a well bonded surface layer, leading to compressive strains in the surface layer; on the other structure interface debonding developed tensile strains at the bottom of the surface layer. Numerical predictions using Viscoroute©2.0 captured the effects of axle configurations and interface conditions

    A Node-Place-Accessibility-Ridership-per-Time Model to Evaluate Micromobility-friendly Transit-Oriented Development Potential in the Hauts-de-France Region

    This study investigates the development potential of station areas in the Hauts-de-France region through an extended version of the Node-Place Model (NPM), aiming to support micromobility-friendly Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategies. We introduce the Node-Place-Accessibility-Ridership-Time (NPART) model, a multi-criteria framework that captures the interplay between public transport provision and the socio-economic, spatial, and functional characteristics of station environments. The model incorporates advanced geostatistical analysis and machine learning tools. NPART advances the original NPM framework through four major extensions: (i) a novel application in a polycentric and under-researched region; (ii) the integration of design quality and dynamic ridership data; (iii) a differentiated analysis of walk-and-ride and bike-and-ride station areas; and (iv) the development of a spatial typology based on accessibility and intermodal potential. Our findings highlight the ability of the model to reveal hidden development opportunities, especially in intermediate station areas. A typology of rail-served zones was established, distinguishing three classes: rail-oriented, adjacent activity, and car-centered areas. Half of the stations fall into the intermediate category, showing promising potential for M-TOD initiatives supported by walking and cycling. The NPART model demonstrates strong potential as a planning support tool for regional authorities. By identifying spatial disparities in multimodal accessibility, it provides actionable insights for refining TOD strategies and prioritizing investment. This contribution is particularly relevant in the French context, where quantitative TOD and M-TOD assessments remain rare despite pressing sustainability goals

    Dans le domaine de la réparation et du renforcement des structures métalliques, le collage structural est de plus en plus utilisé dans des conditions environnementales sévères, y compris le milieu marin. L’étude de l’évolution des propriétés mécaniques des assemblages collés se révèle primordiale pour prédire leur durabilité à long terme. L’objectif principal de ma thèse est de développer une méthodologie de caractérisation des assemblages collés soumis à différents vieillissements résultant d’une immersion dans l’eau, du fluage et des conditions de vieillissement couplant ces deux phénomènes. L’accent est mis sur l’évolution des propriétés d’interface, connue comme étant le point faible de l’assemblage collé. La méthodologie développée s’appuie sur la mécanique linéaire de la rupture afin de déterminer les propriétés mécaniques de l’interface. Pour atteindre cet objectif, une nouvelle configuration d’éprouvettes a été développée afin de répondre aux exigences des trois types de vieillissement étudiés et des essais de caractérisation mécanique. Cette géométrie a été développée et validée par le biais d’une campagne expérimentale d’essais de mécanique de la rupture. Ces essais sont instrumentés à l’aide d’une fibre optique permettant d’obtenir des mesures réparties de déformation, ainsi que par la corrélation d’images permettant de déterminer, de manière directe, les lois cohésives d’interface

    Minimal tori in R^4

    We describe tools for the study of minimal surfaces in R^4; some are classical (the Gauss maps) and some are newer (the link/braid/writhe at infinity). Then we look for complete proper non holomorphic minimal tori with total curvature −8π and a single end immersed in R^4. We translate the problem into a system of 10 quadratic or linear equations in 11 real variables with coefficients in terms of the Weierstrass function ℘ and give explicit solutions for these equations if T is a rectangular torus. For the square torus, we have a complete answer with a unique family of solutions generalizing the Chen-Gackstetter torus in R3. On the other hand, we show that there is no solution on the equianharmonic torus.30 pages, 4 figure

    Reducing the impact of TRWP emissions by understanding their nature and environmental dynamics

    International audienceThis presentation illustrates the links between the physicochemical properties of tyre-road wear particles (TRWPs) and the strategies available to us to reduce their emissions and effects. It details these properties in order to highlight societal solutions (based on populations, behaviour and policies) or structural solutions (based on land use planning, innovation and the market). To do this, the presentation addresses different scales, ranging from sources (tyres, road surfaces and vehicles) to the territories traversed (urban and rural areas). It highlights the considerable inertia and lack of appropriate standards (such as Euro 7) to effectively reduce this emerging pollution. Despite this inertia and in the absence of a single solution, a range of levers has been identified. These levers are mainly in the hands of road planners, soil and water cycle managers in urban areas, tyre and road material manufacturers, and motorists.Cette présentation illustre les liens entre les propriétés physico-chimiques des particules du contact pneu-chaussée (TRWP) et les stratégies à notre disposition pour réduire leurs émissions ainsi que leurs effets. Elle détaille ces propriétés afin de mettre en lumière des solutions sociétales (basées sur les populations, le comportement et les politiques) ou structurelles (basées sur l'aménagement du territoire, l'innovation et le marché). Pour ce faire, la présentation aborde différentes échelles, allant des sources (le pneumatique, la chaussée ou le véhicule) aux territoires traversés (zones urbaines et rurales). Elle souligne qu'il existe une grande inertie et un manque de normes adaptées (à l'image de la norme Euro 7) pour réduire efficacement cette pollution émergente. Malgré cette inertie et à défaut d'une solution unique, un panel de leviers a été identifié. Ces leviers sont principalement entre les mains des aménageurs routiers, des gestionnaires des sols et du cycle de l'eau en zone urbaine, des fabricants de pneus et de matériaux routiers, ainsi que des automobilistes

    Search Schemes for Approximate Pattern Matching: An Overview

    International audienceWe provide a brief survey of results on solving the approximate pattern matching problem using search schemes, as introduced by Kucherov et al. (2016). We demonstrate that search schemes constitute a flexible and versatile tool that enable the specification of various search strategies, including several known filtering methods. We present approaches for designing efficient search schemes and for implementing them effectively. Finally, we conclude with experimental results comparing multiple search schemes on DNA sequencing data using the Columba software by Renders et al. (2021)
